For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Honesty is a good thing, zippi.

Good morning all, especially Bero

Cake in Berlin would be fantastic, I've never been to Berlin, only much further south. When I stayed with a friend in Germany we sometimes had cake for breakfast

From the last thread:

"I am annoyed by:

loud eating/ chewing
gulping & slurping while drinking
unnecessarily dramatic sneezes
sniffing"

UR are you me? Dp does ridiculous sneezes which drive me to distraction and he says, "that's just the way I sneeze"

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2008 08:30

morning
Paps I have fab supplement called Kiki superfood which is well worth the money (hope others whom I have forced it on would agree )
I think a lot of supplements are sold in a kind of pyramid way and I would be very mistrustful of those. Bit snake oilish, isn't it

Melon, pear, orange, raisins, kiwis
am full of fruity goodness

Avi how have they got the nerve to charge £300 when someone else is taking the space anyway? What did you actually book him in for and what time scale did it all happen in? I can't believe they're charging you the full whack when he hasn't had the sessions and they have another child waiting

except they arent loud they just go away of drawn attention to

I said to the woman it sounded pyramid scheme and she very quickly said, oh but pyramid schemes are illegal and said hers was a pointed down pyramid growing upwards... and is network marketing... ah sounds like the same thing love!

I don´t like sniffing, especially when done to express disapproval (my mums habit!)
I don´t like over stimulation so sometimes music can get to me. Though am out on Friday night to see a very noisy rock band called the mint chicks. Am the sober driver for a group of drinkaholic females!

berolina · 20/05/2008 08:47

Morning all

I actually have cake for breakfast today - left over from the weekend

Did you finish your application, Zippi?

It's funny UR, because I definitely did/do have OCD (I am 'recovering' - I prefer to borrow the term 'remission' from oncology myself), but when I did that big long test thing people linked to a while back for all sorts of conditions, it said 'you would probably not receive this diagnosis' . I don't have a lot of the traits,. just some in abandon. OCD is bloody awful tbh, and carries such a stigma. It is one of the few MH terms it is still acceptable to fling aroubnd in a casual way on MN , for example. Rightly or wrongly I am very proud of myself for squashing that demon.

Tatties · 20/05/2008 09:03

Oh I want cake now

Franny I don't remember you eating noisily. In fact thinking about it, that sort of think only really bugs me when I am living with it so you lot can make as much noise as you like Oh dear I am not very easy to live with

OsmosisBanana · 20/05/2008 09:49

i'M BACK!

Oops.

Not much F&V the last few days, but lots of exercise.

Have been painting and sanding and other DIY type things. Also a bit of running. Hateful way to occupy ones self.

Uh..

Rasps / Bluebs / oats ./

nasty lentil soup for lunch

cyteen · 20/05/2008 10:00

Oh how the fruity have fallen. MOving house over the weekend has meant that meals have been of the snatched/convenience/whatever I can make with half my kitchen equipment variety. And I just had a filthy jam doughnut from the baker's to supplement my Shredded Wheat.

On the other hand, I've had the exercise part licked - mental dusting+vaccuuming frenzy at the old house yesterday, lifting and carrying stuff in and out of houses and cars over the weekend, walking to work this morning (1 hour, including final push uphill). Am off to the market at lunchtime to stock up on fresh stuff before I start flaking refined sugar from every pore.

OsmosisBanana · 20/05/2008 10:05

i AM GOING TO tHE Gower this weekend to go camping with a bunch of ex punks. Must start taking milk thistle tonight.

alarkaspree · 20/05/2008 10:15

Good morning. I'd like to join in please. Have been meaning to for a while but every time I think about it the thread has got so long I can't read to the end.

So today I can read to the end of the thread, but so far have had a paltry nectarine and some muesli with raisins in. Probaby about 1 1/2 portions. Will try to improve on that at lunchtime.

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2008 10:15

right update on MrsC's final treat - they have not sent it and are not answering emails or phone calls so I am trying to get the money back through my credit card company
very sorry about this to all concerned - it looked like such a good idea
I will sort it out and try to arrange something equally nice (suggestions on postcard please) but it is taking a little time
will keep you all posted
sorry again, I feel responsible as was me that arranged it

OP posts:
Tatties · 20/05/2008 10:42

It was a really good idea though, don't be sorry, it's not your fault!

TigerFeet · 20/05/2008 11:21

about being let down on MrsC's treat. Hardly your fault though Fran.

Fruit salad of apple, grapes, pineapple & orange (2 portions)

That's it so far

We have veg going brown in the fridge so I feel a pan of soup coming on. It's farking cold enough for soup again [grrr][brrr]

Good luck with the application zippi

Bero if we can't get to you for cake could you please send me us some over?

TigerFeet · 20/05/2008 11:22

TigerFeet · 20/05/2008 11:23

TooTicky · 20/05/2008 11:58

Have had some fruit bread. Have bought fruit. Am reluctant to buy veg because of mouse in veg/pan cupboard.

TooTicky · 20/05/2008 12:19

So, in a tentative way, who might be interested in some kind of picnic/gathering in the southwest? Open to ideas about time/place

TooTicky · 20/05/2008 12:20

Or mid south. Or south coast? Most of you are miles away, aren't you?
