Very embarrassing problem..

Have namechanged..

sometimes when I open my legs, there is an awful smell. Really bad.

Once, I was out with a friend and the smell was so bad, she actually said 'this bar smells disgusting', when it was me..

It makes no difference if I have showered or bathed, if I have used soap or shower gel or nothing at all. I cannot find any reason for this, and it has only started happening in the last few months.

Does anyone have any ideas? I feel so, so but I don't know what to do.

If it helps, the smell is foul. Like rotten, almost.

Oh god

if it is following your mc it could be left over 'product' as they call it imperative to get it seen too

avenanap · 13/05/2008 13:21

There must be a nice female Doctor there? Write it down if you can't say it. It will be ok, honestly. It will just be like going for a smear . You should get it checked though.

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:23

Is there really, really nothing I can do other than go to the doctor or nurse? I really can't do that, and so will have to live with it.

I know you will all think I am being stupid, and I completely agree. But I really, really can't go to the doctor, even if I was to hand over a note. I would feel even more stupid. I have never been for a smear test either. I have serious 'issues', and everytime I try and go, I have a panic attack, last time ended up in hospital as I had the panic attack at the doctors and they took me off in an ambulance.

I really cannot go.

sorry but LOL at "The Smell"
get to doctor
see a female one
idea always worse than the reality

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:24

God if Iw as reading this, I would think I was being irritating and stupid. I would say 'get over yourself' to me.

I can't explain it, but I cannot go to the doctor.

You must go. What happened when you gave birth?

binkleandflip · 13/05/2008 13:25

get hypnosis. GO FOR SMEAR TEST. Do not jeopardise your health in this way - its is very foolhardy. Quite apart from the social outcast aspect of smelly genitals this could be indicative of a real health problem that you need to address sooner rather than later.

Take it you didnt have a D & C after the MC then? How did the dr check you then to make sure you had fully miscarried?

Rowlers · 13/05/2008 13:25

seriously?
what's all that about then?

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:25

Tinker - worst experience of my life. Without, getting into too much detail, I was in a psychiatric unit a few months later with PTSD.

Really horrific birth, which is where these problems have come from.

If it's an infection, there's no knowing what damage it could cause if you leave it. You run the risk of all sorts. Is there a friend that can go with you?

I'm being very honest with you and truthful. You really do need to get this seen by a nurse or a doctor. It's not that bad, it's not going to be uncomfortable. Explain to them that you are extremely anxious about being seen, they will understand. If you have an infection and it spreads then this is the last thing you will want. They will have to do something down there anyway. There isn't anything else you can do.

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:28

Binkle - I have been wondering that myself.

Basically, I passed a very large 'clot' (which looked like a seahorse) and went to the doctor. He did a pg test, and said it was positive, and so i must have miscarried. They told me to go to hospital the next day, I did, they did a blood test and said it was less than 5% pregnancy hormones, so i definitely wasn't pregnant anymore, and they sent me home.

Thats all that happened.

blushface please go to the doctor...surely after having a baby not much is embarrassing?

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:30

Its not the embarrassment of the doctor though. I really, cannot get there. I have tried, believe me.

I know I sound totally sad and pathetic, I know. It makes me cry to feel so weak and stupid to even think these things, let alone type them out. I feel so pathetic. But I can't.

NorksDrift · 13/05/2008 13:30

Sweet heart, you must go to a doctor. I promise you they will have seen and smelt it all before and won't care. It's not going to clear up on its own by the sound of things and is probably bacterial vaginosis as lou says.

avenanap · 13/05/2008 13:30

There's a possibility that there's still some tissue left over, this is what is causing the smell. Please go.

Rowlers · 13/05/2008 13:31

Will your gp phone you at home?
Mine will do this and it may be a way to start sorting this all out without having to face anyone in person at the start
What are your fears? Having to talk about it or spread?

PuppyMonkey · 13/05/2008 13:31

It's just a thought, but you do wear cotton undies only don't you? Some of the other fabrics can have a nasty effect down there as I recall???

avenanap · 13/05/2008 13:31

Phone them up and ask them if they can come out.

MargaretMountford · 13/05/2008 13:32

oh please go blushface - really you could make yourself very ill if you don't get it sorted..we'll pester you until you do...

yes,septicaemia- would be very serious -really you must go

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:34

Oh I couldn't even have them come here. Tried that. Had a major panic attack.

God I sound so pathetic.

read that link Norks - not sure it would be bacterial vaginosis - its not really a 'fishy' smell (well, maybe a bit but more a 'rotten' smell) and none of the other things really ring true..

I only wear cotton underwear, yes.

Sorry for being so pathetic. I guess if I can't do it, I will have to live with this smell. Sorry.

Goodness mmj - He wouldn't be an orphan, his dad is not dead!

And if it was anything serious, surely in 5 months it would have given other symptoms, no?
