Well, they say that a heart attack feels like severe indigestion! If it's bad enough that you feel the need to lie down, call an ambulance!

Either of the others is more likely though. Have you had a larger-than-usual meal today? Your insides are probaly all a bit sensitive atm.

Hope you're OK. What would I do without you?!

I've had Glandular Fever, I had acid reflux straight after. If it's chest pain that you have and you have not had it before you must phone for an ambulance. It doesn't matter if it's indigestion or not, they won't mind. It's better to be safe.

Have a glass of lemonade, or failing that a packet of Love Hearts. My dh swears by them for 'funny feelings like indigestion'

brrrrmmmm · 27/04/2008 19:13

Have you got any antacid you can take? Try this first, and let us know!

blinkingthreetimes · 27/04/2008 19:17

Maybe as you have been ill and probably feeling a bit low you may be having a panic attack .
I have them a lot and once got rushed to hospital with a suspected Heart attack only to be told it was panic attacks according to my dr the pain is exactly the same

Hope it feels better soon if it's really worrying you go to a&E just to be sure

take some gaviscon - if it goes then you know it's indigestion.
does it feel worse if you take a sharp breath in? if it does - likely to be lung related. are you coughing? if you're bringing up chumnks might be chest infection.
is it crushing, central pain? does it travel up your neck? jaw? shoulder? arms?
if it is phone an ambulance.
does anything make it better? or worse?

I have pain in my chest under my rib cage on both sides. I have been to see a Gastro, had all necessary nasty tests, he says it's IBS, I think it's nerve damage from the Glandular Fever. I do also have IBS (it's the dodgy tummy that gives this one away), I'm slowly loosing weight and am almost constantly tired. I wouldn't mind but I've been like this for 16 months and I hate feeling like this. I have plans for my future that don't involve having ME. Glandular Fever is a nasty illness, you should ask your GP to refer you to a virologist so that he can do some tests and try and find out what it has done to you.

You could feel like you are calm but it's still panic attack - I have them and half the time I'm thinking 'but I'm not panicking' but that's def what it is.

Cammelia · 27/04/2008 20:15

How long did you have glandular fever for Cod?

Gobbledigook · 27/04/2008 20:16

And when you've all finished diagnosing cod - can you tell me why I've suddenly gone deaf in one ear?!

Sorry to hear that, what have been/are your main symptoms?

Gobbledigook · 27/04/2008 20:21

Yep - it's gone now. Thanks doc.

avenanap · 27/04/2008 20:24

They didn't show up when I was ill, it took time to develop. I just felt tired. I took a few weeks off training and went back after christmas. I managed a week then was off sick as I was picking up alot of illnesses from the children. I remember having a temp of 41 which was really odd. I did have pain in my back when I was diagnosed with Glandular Fever, it was where my pancreas is, I still get pain there. I also get it on the other side, where the Gall bladder is.
