Yes, it’s great - and the apple flavour is the best one. I took it when pregnant (you can take two sachets when pregnant), and it really helped boost my iron levels then..

I tried floradix before but my body didnt absorb it.
I hope it absorbs this 1

I tried this a few years ago when my ferretin was 17, and it didn't work for me unfortunately. I'm now taking an iron tablet I bought on Amazon (ferretin currently 33). Hoping it helps!

Get ferrous fumarate on prescription, it's much more effective at replenishing ferritin. Spatone had no effect on mine at all. I was tested every three months.

minisoksmakehardwork · 22/04/2024 17:26

I'll let you know when my latest set of bloods come back. Even if there's no difference there, there was a real term difference in how I felt - a lot less 'anaemic' than previously.

I just had the regular ones though. I found the slightly metallic taste not too bad and take a vitamin c supplement anyway.

Did you take it with Vit C? That helps absorption.

Anyone with low feretin should do a Qfit test

To check 4 colon polyps

I have had 3 x colonoscopies in the last yr

OP posts:
JeepSleeHack · 22/04/2024 18:07

Did they find anything at the colonoscopies?

RespiceFinemKarma · 22/04/2024 18:21

Yes, I was better in around 1 month and still have half a box so if I dip again and feel tired or worn out I'll take them again for a week

RespiceFinemKarma · 22/04/2024 18:22

And FYI you can get Spatone with Vit C in it, so no need to take with orange juice, just pop it in your bag and have it on the go

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 22/04/2024 18:35

If your ferritin is clinically subnormal, spatone is highly unlikely to boost your levels into normal range. It's fine for maintaining levels when things are in range if you are prone to iron deficiency anaemia but it isn't good enough to reverse it.

Plus, if your hb is in range but your ferritin isn't, that means you aren't the iron, so ingesting a load of supplements isn't that helpful. You need to find the underlying reason for the ferritin issue.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 22/04/2024 18:38

Sorry, I edited that because I thought I'd missed a word but then realised I hadn't so edited it back Grin

Remoteaccess · 22/04/2024 18:44

Is the

RespiceFinemKarma · 22/04/2024 19:00

Yes, I should have said I used this was after the GP had given me 30 days of ferrous sulphate - I felt a lot better but not quite 100% after those, so kept up with these.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 22/04/2024 19:58

I've also realised that I missed the word storing from my post ("that means you aren't storing the iron"). FGS.

Surroundedbyfools · 22/04/2024 20:04

I’ve never seen this. I might try it. My ferritin levels have been so low since having my 2 boys. Lowest in pregnancy it was like 8 and now I think it’s crawled right up to 23 ! I didn’t even realise it got as high as in the hundreds !

Knockerknocker · 22/04/2024 20:07

I’m interested in this . Mine is 16? But it was within range (just) by the nhs standard but I am constantly knackered?

Cloverforever · 22/04/2024 20:11

The three arrows supplement shown above is very good but can only be ordered direct from the states, and mine took a month to come. Pricey but worth it.

LipstickedPowderedAndPainted · 22/04/2024 20:20

Spatone did nothing for me and I found the taste vile to boot. It always took me an eternity to get levels up again with multiple different treatments. I was told to eat eight dried apricots a day by a doctor which i have done and my iron and ferritin haven't dropped again since. Something else to add in to the steak, spinach and egg yolk diet!!
