Colonoscopy prep what kind of hell is this

This is my 2nd colonoscopy 1st with plenvu my last one was moviprep. I don't know if iv just blocked out the horror of the 1st one but this seems so much worse the taste I honestly can't cope it's mango flavour and it has this weird aftertaste and just trying so hard not to 🤮🤮 please distract me story's, jokes anything xx

Mango makes a nice change from orange though!
Have you got lots of loo roll and some bum wipes ready?

Can you put the next lot in the fridge. Straw so you don't have to taste it.

I will never forget Picolax….. the fact that it warms up in the glass when you add it to cold water defies belief. And the taste 🤮🤢🤮

Yeah, but at least Picolax is only in 150ml of water or something - it can be downed in one or two and it's over. Infinitely preferable to litres of the bloody stuff.

My last one was lemon, not had orange

It depends when your colonoscopy is. If it's ok the morning and you have more prep to take I wouldn't be too concerned.

The mango is gross but I'm afraid I found the 'fruit punch' second one way worse 🤢

Make it up tonight and put it in the fridge overnight. It might help.

Make sure you are close to a toilet. Take your clothes off. I ended up sitting in my dressing gown on a big bath towel rushing to the toilet every time I felt the urge. Have a supply of wipe and loads of toilet rolls. Have some old towels to catch poo drips too.

oh blimey. i have to take my first Plevu at 5pm tomorrow, colonoscopy Friday morning. But what I really want to know is how come coke is ok to drink tomorrow (fast day) - makes you wonder what the heck is in coke that it gets a pass!

Vaseline or something similar on your bum .
Drink the vile stuff through a straw.

Picolax, put it in the fridge for a couple of hours and then sip alternately with diluted squash (not black current)

@stoppedwindows I had an afternoon colonoscopy a couple of months ago and had absolutely zilch downstairs action until about 9am the morning of the procedure! But when it started, it reeeeeeally started 😬

I once saw a lady actually propelled across the room with the force of her evacuation in hospital - it’s incredible stuff !

As others have said it’s always better really cold and drank with a straw - if you’re pooping clear you can stop though and not have it all

I hope I never have to have another one. I can not keep it down very well so I was sipping it , gagging , sometimes going to the toilet and sometimes vomiting. Then worry that I haven't had enough. The actual procedure is a breeze . I have sedation and enjoy the lovely sleep afterwards.

Yes, I second this. I didn’t actually finish the second dose it was so vile. Sorry, that’s not helpful. Misery loves company etc etc.

I once had an enema, that was so much better than drinking these preps.

A reminder to slather your poor hard-working bum in Vaseline or the like so as not to add raw, chapped skin to the general misery of it all. Good luck OP!

I had the joy of the lemon moviprep last month. One good thing is that the procedure itself is far nicer than drinking what seemed like litres of the foul stuff while trying not to heave.

Mine took a while to work both times so don't panic, it will come!
