i ve got a really really bad foofy

its very sore, swollen, bright red, extremely hot and now i can see/feel a few spots
i cant sleep properly, im literally screaming in pain and its making me feel really dirty. i ve had thrush and it doesnt seem to feel as if its thrush, its seems to be spreading towards my bum now and im dreading having to go to the toilet.

i really dont want to go the docs cos im a young mum and i dont want them to think its a STI or STD from sleeping around (there s no offence meant but in my area its really common) im with ds father and we're getting married so its not like i ve been with any one else. i ve even looked on the internet to see if its anything to do with ingrowing hairs.

the only way i can describe it is its like a mix of thrush, piles, and a heat rash.

its soooo embarrassing but i can hardly walk and its getting me down.

has anyone had simular?? i ve been under a lot of stress recently and feeling really down. so this could be why im under the weather sorta thing.

please help me.

You need to go to the docs.

SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 20/03/2008 10:46

Have you treated yourself for thrush?

It does sound like a really bad dose of it.

If that doesn't work, and you have to go to the docs, the only way they would assume it was an STI would be if it was an STI - they would be able to diagnose it properly and treat you properly.

But first of all, get some canestan and see if it works.

mishymoo · 20/03/2008 10:47

You need to see GP - can you not ask to see a female GP? GPs have seen far worse things in their time!

GreatAuntieWurly · 20/03/2008 10:47

cool bath to ease the soreness but I really think you will have to go to gp or at least see the nurse. They wont think anything bad of you.

avenanap · 20/03/2008 10:47

Go to the doctors. Please! It sounds so sore and they have seen it all before, and worse. I don't know what it is but you really need to go. I hope you are feeling better soon. Please go to the GP.

Buda · 20/03/2008 10:47

Agree. Def doc I'm afraid. And don't be embarrassed - they have seen it all before and then some!

Kewcumber · 20/03/2008 10:48

go to the doctor. 10 minutes of embarassment vs putting up with it - isn't that a clear decision?

My2Weegirls · 20/03/2008 10:48

dr's have seen and heard it all. they will not judge you. make an appt now!

ska · 20/03/2008 10:48

and these days you might be able to see the nurse practitioner, tehy are usually lovely. you MUST go, you will get worse notbetter without medication and tehy have seen it all honest (f-in-law is GP)

brimfull · 20/03/2008 10:50

you can go to your local std clinic
you don't need a referral to go,just turn up I think, maybe worth ringing first though

they've seen so many manky foofies that they won't bat an eyelid

brimfull · 20/03/2008 10:50

btw meant to say it doesn't matter if it's not a std, they'll still deal with it

boudoiricca · 20/03/2008 10:52

Please make an appointment and go to the GP. They won't be judgemental - they will diagnose what the problem is and give you the correct treatment to sort it out. I don't think this is something you'll solve yourself with Canestan. As avenanap says they truly have seen everything before!

Please book and go today before the long weekend. You don't want to be in agony until Tuesday!

Indith · 20/03/2008 10:52

Do go, you really sound like you need to. Get some canestan cream on there to ease it. Also bath with salt in may ease things a little and tea tree oil is very soothing. Get a panty liner and put a drops of tea tree on it, it really helps and I 've found that with thrush at least it sooths for far longer than the cream.

NotQuiteCockney · 20/03/2008 10:53

Please go to the GP.

And yes, sexual health clinics can deal with anything like this, I've gone to them for thrush. (Which it could be tbh, thrush can be quite alarming.)

Do you have flu symptoms?

procrastinatingparent · 20/03/2008 10:55

I had an infection which was misdiagnosed as thrush; when I went back to the doctors again because it wasn't getting any better, the meanest least sympathetic GP in the practice took one look, said, 'You poor thing', and sent me straight to the hospital where even the acute gynae clinic were taken aback and said it was a very bad infection. It took mega-antibiotics before it cleared up, and I was very miserable.

So, you have to go to the GP, they really have seen it all, and don't think that it is just bad thrush. Go as soon as you can because it won't get better on its own.

Lots of leg-crossing sympathy for you.

Twinkie1 · 20/03/2008 10:57

Go and get a pack from the chemist of the canestan pessary and the tablet you take and some canestan cream and then on the way home buy some natural yog - take tablet, insert pessary and slather liberally with yogurt.

Try and not eat yeasty things too - bread marmite etc and sugary things until it has cleared up!

If that doesn't work go to the GP.

boudoiricca · 20/03/2008 10:59

I don't think there is an advantage in us getting symptoms and trying to make a diagnosis on here.

Chicky you do need to go and see a professional - nurse, GP, clinic, wherever you feel most comfortable. If you had an infected swollen cut on your finger that wasn't healing you'd go get it fixed. A doctor will see this in exactly the same way!

OrmIrian · 20/03/2008 11:04

Go to the GP. You know you have to...

Try tea tree oil. Dilute it in warm water to bathe the area. Or even dab it on neat - it will sting like hell but it will ease the soreness

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 20/03/2008 11:05

Get thee to a doctor young lady, I had to go once after an allergic reaction to a bedroom toy . They were very sympathetic and I felt a hundred times better.

You can't leave this til Tuesday.

grouphug · 20/03/2008 11:05

bless you, unfortunatley this sounds like it is past self treatment, however a quick visit to the GP and they will give you antibiotics to help you. I don't think any one goes through their life without getting some kind of problem down below.

ChickyChickyChooChoo · 20/03/2008 11:06

yeah i know your all right but i d feel soooo embarrassed. it def not a sti. my DP hasnt got symptoms of it its just me. i ve been taking showers cos i dont know how painful it will be to sit in the bath as its raw at the moment. it started as just a sort of scratch feeling. in fact i blamed DP and said he should cut his nails but when i had a look the wasnt anything but redness which makes thrush a possibility.
