I'm pondering because I'm really ill!
I have pneumonia.

My go to food when I'm really poorly and do t fancy food is always soft boiled eggs and soldiers!
Followed by soup .

What makes the best thing ever when you feel like absolute crap?

When ill I would kill for a bowl of original recipe Kellogg’s coco pops but thanks to Jamie Cunting Oliver I can’t have them.
Twat.

Marmite on toast

Same.

That mix of salt, carbs, and fat from the butter holds life and limb together.

I also crave orange juice ice lollies... presumably for the vitamin c.

saltrock123 · 04/12/2022 07:57

Marmite on cream crackers.

Believe it or not, Pringles.

I’m getting over proper, actual, diagnosed, couldn’t leave the house for 2 weeks flu.

Meals have mainly been:

Tomato soup and cheese on toast
Boiled egg and soldiers
Butternut and sage soup and crunchy bread & butter
Cheese omelettes
Peanut butter or Marmite on toast and tea
Porridge.

Last night I really fancied chicken Ramen soup and there’s a brilliant Vietnamese near by. My god, it was heaven! Hot chicken broth, silky noodles, chilli, coriander, bean sprouts, ginger, spring onions, lime and more chilli and more coriander. With chicken. And an egg. And a vegetable gyoza.

For a ‘first meal back’ it’s was nectar. Genuinely think it’s made me feel slightly better.

MissMarpleRocks · 04/12/2022 08:03

You feeling any better vicar?

I’ve got pneumonia also. 4 weeks in. Forcing myself to eat. My go to is cheese on toast. Proper comfort food. And Lemon & ginger tea or hot chocolate. Actually I’ve probably survived on the hot chocolate the most these last few weeks.

Iamacatslave · 04/12/2022 16:22

Toast with marmalade.

Neverknowinglysensible · 04/12/2022 16:27

Not all at the same time, but bread and butter; quavers crisps nibbled very slowly; beef consommé.

Truffle55 · 04/12/2022 16:32

Apple pie and custard - I think it stems from when I was a child and my mum used to do stewed apples for me when I poorly as it was easy to eat. When I had a bout of depression a few years ago when my husband left I got through so many apple pies it was daft.

just to add though, when I had a severe chest infection I found I went off the idea of eating meat and was completely vegetarian for the entire time I was really ill and for sometime after too.

very strange…..

tobee · 04/12/2022 21:55

Scrambled egg sandwich.

Get well soon

JingsMahBucket · 04/12/2022 21:57

Spicy Korean or Japanese ramen. Or Vietnamese pho. Pho feels like a truly healing soup to me.
