I'm pondering because I'm really ill!
I have pneumonia.

My go to food when I'm really poorly and do t fancy food is always soft boiled eggs and soldiers!
Followed by soup .

What makes the best thing ever when you feel like absolute crap?

Rice pudding. Cold out of the tin with a spoon. I only eat it when I’m ill but we have a tin the cupboard just in case! That and soup was all
i could eat for a week with a dental
abscess recently- could hardly open my mouth and couldn’t chew.

JingsMahBucket · 04/12/2022 21:57

Also, I hope you feel better soon @stillvicarinatutu. Feeling sick is terrible sometimes. I hope you don't have the shivers. Bleah!

I’m getting over proper, actual, diagnosed, couldn’t leave the house for 2 weeks flu.

Meals have mainly been:

Tomato soup and cheese on toast
Boiled egg and soldiers
Butternut and sage soup and crunchy bread & butter
Cheese omelettes
Peanut butter or Marmite on toast and tea
Porridge.

Last night I really fancied chicken Ramen soup and there’s a brilliant Vietnamese near by. My god, it was heaven! Hot chicken broth, silky noodles, chilli, coriander, bean sprouts, ginger, spring onions, lime and more chilli and more coriander. With chicken. And an egg. And a vegetable gyoza.

For a ‘first meal back’ it’s was nectar. Genuinely think it’s made me feel slightly better.

@YellowAndGreenToBeSeen I just saw your post! We're just the same. There's something about ramen and pho that just do the trick. It's the stock/broth that works magical wonders too.

If it's a cold type bug then Heinz tomato soup and cheese toastie.

Anything sickness related and it's got to be salt and vinegar crisps or oven chips. Bland carbs are the way through!

HowCanIPayItForward · 04/12/2022 22:03

Soup and toast
Cheese on toast.

Quveas · 04/12/2022 22:38

It's not a food, but lucozade! I know it's just sugar water really, but when I was a child (1960s) it was sold by chemists for sickness, and came in a bottle with fancy wrapping. It was expensive, and a real luxury. So when I'm ill my head knows it doesn't really do anything, but it still makes me feel better, warm and comforted, and reminds me of my mam.

Greenbeanmcgee · 04/12/2022 22:41

Jewish chicken soup. My Jewish friend has an old recipe and my goodness it is the best ever.
I have even bought Kosher chicken soup in a large supermarket. That is good too. Feels like pure goodness when I am ill. Love it.

Thinkwicebeforeyouleavemylife · 04/12/2022 22:44

Toast.
Dry cheerios.
Pasta and cheese
Spaghetti hoops

Blisterlip · 04/12/2022 22:45

Toasted English muffins if not too bad or recovering from sickness
Lucozade only if super poorly

oviraptor21 · 04/12/2022 22:45

For flu or a cold - custard - not too thick though.
For sicky bugs - salt and vinegar crisps. One every half hour to hour or so.

SouperNoodle · 04/12/2022 22:46

Fish fingers, mash and spaghetti hoops. It's what my mum made me when I was sick as a kid and it's stayed a comfort food.

par05 · 04/12/2022 22:46

Toast with butter salt and pepper and Lucozade , lucozade also for hangovers and craved it during pregnancy!
