I'm pondering because I'm really ill!
I have pneumonia.

My go to food when I'm really poorly and do t fancy food is always soft boiled eggs and soldiers!
Followed by soup .

What makes the best thing ever when you feel like absolute crap?

Porridge, eggs, yogurt, soup, chocolate! And hot cross buns, based on the last time I had covid. In fairness, I didn't eat for a week first, but made up for it afterwards.

@YellowAndGreenToBeSeen I just saw your post! We're just the same. There's something about ramen and pho that just do the trick. It's the stock/broth that works magical wonders too.

Absolutely. The broth, the chilli and the coriander. Soul restoring combination.

Toast. Sonetimes with marmite or if it’s good bread just with salted butter.

Aria999 · 04/12/2022 23:06

Toast with butter and marmite.

Aria999 · 04/12/2022 23:07

I hope you got someone to look after the dogs and / or the care you need!

talkingmorenonsense · 04/12/2022 23:09

Tomato soup and toast.

Oneofthosewsillydays · 04/12/2022 23:13

Mini cheddars, cheese, biscuits, and never want toast or anything heavy. If it was a throat issue I'd want hot soup or a very spicy curry.

BellePeppa · 04/12/2022 23:13

Noodle soup (ramen). It’s always the thing I want to eat when I’m ill. Just typing it makes me want to eat it. A good ramen is the best dish ever.

Oneofthosewsillydays · 04/12/2022 23:13

Or a hot chilli

Season0fTheWitch · 04/12/2022 23:22

Ritz crackers, bourbons dipped in coffee and cheese toasties

justasking111 · 04/12/2022 23:48

Digestive biscuits and lots of cups of tea

MimiArm · 05/12/2022 00:08

Homemade noodle soup:

Dollop of oil in pot and two cinnamon sticks and one star anaise

Add chopped onions and peppers

Add very finely diced ginger (about a square inch worth)

Add very finely chopped garlic

Add very finely chopped red chilli (one small one)

Add chicken breast chopped onto small pieces

Mix and let fry for 5-10 mins

Add water, two chicken stock cubes, sliced carrots and stick of lemongrass

Lightly boil for an hour

Remove cinnamon sticks, star anaise, lemongrass stick and add in noodles for last 5 mins

Awakens the senses brilliantly (IMO) and makes me feel instantly better!

  • If you could be arsed making it that is
mackthepony · 05/12/2022 01:52

Buttered cold toast with cheese slices on top. Crap orange cheese

DrMarciaFieldstone · 05/12/2022 01:54

My mum’s homemade clear chicken soup, and white toast, spread with thick, real butter

OlleOskiFelle · 05/12/2022 01:56

Another one for marmite on toast, also buttery jacket potatoes and soup.

Logicalreasoning · 05/12/2022 22:23

marmite on toast... I don’t eat it most of the time, even though I like it, I don’t eat toast enough to warrant having it, but if I get sick I always send someone to get some.

FlamingJingleBells · 05/12/2022 22:25

Mashed potatoes with lots of butter

stillvicarinatutu · 06/12/2022 22:51

That noodle soup sounds amazing but I cannot be arsed to cook .

I've just had a hot toddy and 2 more soft boiled eggs with soldiers.... Omg . So nice . My cholesterol will be dying but I don't care .

I'm wondering why I don't eat soft boiled eggs more often.....
