ZOE NUTRITION TESTING- ABOUT TO START- ANYONE HELP ME? Teccie help needed

LisaLovedUp · 12/11/2022 10:06

Sorry about the caps.

My phone doesn't support all of the Zoe app for blood glucose monitoring. I knew this before I ordered it, knowing, worst case, I'd get get my microbiome done and the blood tests for fat.
@wombat27a

So, what next? Does he have to have the Zoe app and then where do we go?

Once it's on his phone, will it record my blood glucose?

Sorry for appearing so clueless on this.

AND if anyone has a moment, can you take me through DAY 1 as they say this is the busiest day and allow time for it all. What will I have to do?

@Wombat27A

Maybe you can help me? or refer me back to the thread?

Sorry, a line went missing when I edited it.

The question is....can I use my partner's phone for the blood glucose monitoring?

Another poster said I could.

How will that work because obviously I've now scanned the bar code on the pack and all the instructions etc are coming to my phone.

Have I totally messed up?

Hello, I think it's ok as the app uses login details provided by Zoe, so as long as he doesn't mind you using his phone for the monitoring, that would work? It doesn't use any of his personal details, if that makes sense?

I'd ask the Zoe chat about if you can then use your phone for the coaching or borrow his as it doesn't take long to do each lesson.

Wombat27A · 12/11/2022 11:17

I'm not techie, by the way, you need some of the others off the thread!

Are you all sorted with the other bits? So coffee with your muffins and secure your poo hammock.

LisaLovedUp · 12/11/2022 11:28

This is so kind of you @Wombat27A and I really appreciate it.

So- taking me back to basics, would he download the app and then what next?
Without unpacking to glucose monitor and putting it on, I'm not sure how it works!

I only know that as I've scanned the bar code on the pack , my app says I'm ready to go and it will talk me through what to do when I start (which won't be till mid week next week.)

Does he have to scan the barcode as well so the info comes on his phone?

My muffins are in the fridge and TBH I'm not enjoying eating them as I'm not that keen on muffins but there you go! At least it's not a camel's penis as in 'I'm a celebrity''!

The poo thing doesn't bother me as I'm over 60 and have already done a poo sample for NHS testing!

oops- muffins in freezer (and will eat next week.)

Yep, you need the Zoe app and also the Libre app. Zoe give you the login details for the Libre app.

You just "press" the monitor on the skin of your upper arm and it sits there. I was ok with the plaster, which surprised me as I'm allergic normally. I kept it pretty dry for the two weeks, showered with my arm in the air! You then wave the phone at the monitor and it records the score. It holds 8 hours (?) of data, so you don't need to do it all the time but it's good fun, so I was always playing with it.

There's was a foldout leaflet in my pack that gave the order to do things on which days, it's good to have a real good read of that as it took me a bit to get my head around it. Then just do the bits as they tell you.

I also had a look on YouTube for info and watched a few US preview videos as there wasn't a UK one, might be by now.

Wombat27A · 12/11/2022 11:42

Totally missed the entire paragraph about barcodes, er, can't remember that bit! Sorry....

chutneypig · 12/11/2022 11:57

Are you planning on using the Zoe app on your phone and the Libre app to monitor the glucose on your husband's phone? I thought the barcode was to tie your whole kit to your Zoe account, but I'm not 100% sure. So I'm not sure your husband would need to scan the code.

If everything's in the freezer I'd second what wombat said and try to contact Zoe via the coaching, so you're sure you're starting off right.

LisaLovedUp · 12/11/2022 13:15

Thanks so much both of you @chutneypig

Obviously it's a costly process and I want to try to use the glucose monitor.

I have another option which is my DD giving me her old phone (typical!) which I could have and use as mine, so I could either wait till I see her (she doesn't live near me) or use my partner's phone for the glucose monitoring.

BUT you are right and it's best to contact them to check as I don't want to waste my money.

I've just put my monitor on this afternoon and I definitely think it's possible to use someone else's phone to monitor the CGM - the Zoe app gave me a unique email and password to sign into the Libre app with so it doesn't necessarily know that the Libre app I've signed into is on the same phone as my Zoe app with the scanned kit. They're separate but connected through the username (which is different to the barcode bit). So in summary, when you start the CGM bit - have the instructions up on your phone which has the Zoe app and then download the Libre app on your husband's phone and when it says input the username etc into Libre you just do that bit on your husband's phone.

I'm already obsessed with scanning it

texican · 12/11/2022 17:57

Really apologise - your partner not husband. I tried to go back and check but my phone wouldn't let me!

LisaLovedUp · 12/11/2022 19:45

@texican You're so kind- thank you FlowersThat all helps. Do let us all know how you get on! I may not begin till early-mid next week as it says although time for your first day. I'm really excited about it!

Hi everyone I’ve literally just started - in the middle of the tests today, just need to do the fingerprick test now and then im free! I found the muffins way too sweet so im really looking my forward to eating something savoury after the final test. Thought the poo hammock was fine and yes the cgm is quite addictive, my blood sugar yesterday was much lower than I’d thought it would be it was consistently 3.2-3.5 all afternoon until I ate dinner.

LisaLovedUp · 13/11/2022 20:59

@Hollyhead I am not looking forward to the muffins! Tell me- do you eat them all at once, as a 'meal'? Or spread over the day? (I've not logged in yet to the app as I'm waiting a few days to start.)

I read that the 3 muffins have a total sugar of 39gms which is WAY more sugar than I'd eat in a day!

I am slightly worried about the finger prick test. Ages ago I tried to use those lancets for an iron test (at home) and I wasn't able to get all the blood necessary. (I have very small hands and my fingers don't appear to like to bleed!)

I can get a couple of drops (I've used a home glucose monitor before and the lancets there get a couple of drop to test the glucose.)

OP posts:
Hollyhead · 14/11/2022 20:39

You eat 3 for breakfast and 2 for lunch,m. They are hard going! Very sweet. With the blood test I’d be prepared to use more than one lancet as I also have very thin fingers (ring size H) and it was a real ordeal to get enough blood in the 5 min window! In the end I did all 3 fingers!

Jezzballs2000 · 14/11/2022 20:45

I just got my kit (thanks to @Wombat27A ) and will start in the next few days. I am still trying to work out what day to start.

Work back from the busiest day, which is Day 3 (do check!) as it does take a bit of organisation. Also think about post times for poo, blood, etc. Good luck!

Jezzballs2000 · 15/11/2022 07:34

I am having trouble with the sensor and it's not reading my glucose despite putting it on last night. i am currently eating the muffins. do you think it's all void?

Definitely give their support a shout, it doesn't sound right. It should take a while to calibrate but should show something.

Jezzballs2000 · 15/11/2022 13:08

@Wombat27A thank you! I went into full panic mode. They are sending me new muffins so I'll have to do it again 🤢 and if the sensor doesn't start working they will send me a new one.

Wombat27A · 15/11/2022 14:06

Ha, ha, I'm a bit of a indiscriminate cake lover, so I was ok with the muffins but that 1st lot is quite the challenge. 😊

Glad they supported you in a timely manner. 👍

chutneypig · 15/11/2022 15:10

My sympathy @Jezzballs2000 - having to go through that first set of muffins again is a challenge.

I'm afraid I'm out of codes @DonNotKeith or would have been happy to oblige - hopefully someone can help

amazonianwoman · 15/11/2022 20:46

I have one last referral @DonNotKeith if you're interested. Mine is a link with my name in the link, so message me privately if you'd like it Smile

Has anyone bought a second glucose monitor? Can't bear for mine to run out tonight after 2 weeks!
