Sorry about the caps.

My phone doesn't support all of the Zoe app for blood glucose monitoring. I knew this before I ordered it, knowing, worst case, I'd get get my microbiome done and the blood tests for fat.
@wombat27a

So, what next? Does he have to have the Zoe app and then where do we go?

Once it's on his phone, will it record my blood glucose?

Sorry for appearing so clueless on this.

AND if anyone has a moment, can you take me through DAY 1 as they say this is the busiest day and allow time for it all. What will I have to do?

Thank you @Jezzballs2000 and @amazonianwoman found a 10% discount code online and have signed up now.
January feels a long wait!

You eat 3 for breakfast and 2 for lunch,m. They are hard going! Very sweet. With the blood test I’d be prepared to use more than one lancet as I also have very thin fingers (ring size H) and it was a real ordeal to get enough blood in the 5 min window! In the end I did all 3 fingers!

Thank you! @Hollyhead I'm a ring size G and a half, or an H!

I am worried about the lancet as I know it is going to be hard work getting enough blood! Course when I nick my shins shaving it pours out!

So pleased my thread is still going and of course all the help form you guys and @Wombat27A

I think we've cracked the sensor and using another phone, and it's almost ready for my first reading. Day 1 is tomorrow.

Has anyone else found the sensor a bit annoying- the plaster? I've put the sensor right on the back of my arm but the plaster cover is so big it's really pulling - I've had to cut a little off one edge.

I found the health questionnaire very time consuming earlier today.
One thing I am going to feedback is that they don't have a category for gluten-free bread, or lactose free dairy (which I eat.)

So for the sandwiches bread questions I put that I didn't eat those, as what I do eat aren't wheat, but all other cereals and lots of additives to make it all stick together.

It's a little bit annoying, as they do ask right at the start if you are intolerant to any foods but then don't include those options on the food lists.

(There is also a big difference between allergies and intolerances, and they aren't distinguished.)

If anyone is reading....

how do you contact Zoe for help, with any questions?

Is it on the app and if so, where?

Also, has anyone eaten fewer than all the muffins?
I think I will feel quite ill eating 5 in one morning.

Is it possible to reduce this number at all- has anyone asked them?

Chat is under the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner on the app.

Can I ask how you managed to get the kit? I signed up and got added to a waiting list a few months ago but haven't heard anything since. Am I missing something? Thanks!

DonNotKeith · 17/11/2022 09:41

@Nightskyatnight - I signed up to the waiting list at the end of July and had my invite this week! - With the kit due to be sent to me in January.

Nightskyatnight · 17/11/2022 10:46

Thanks @DonNotKeith . Bet you can't wait to get started!

Anyone already doing it can you help me answer a couple of queries...

  1. Is the blood fat test/poop test only done once? Or can you do a before and after test to see how things change after following the advice from Zoe?
  1. How do you say you want a blood sugar monitor? I can't see any option on how you opt in to that. Does it just come as default?
  1. Would you recommend signing up for the 4 month subscription or do you get most of what you need to know in the first month?

Thanks!

I was waiting a few months ago. Every now and then they sent me an email saying 'not long now' etc. I think that I had to wait around 6 months.

I'm very much a newbie with this but will try to answer. I'm on Day 1 of testing and about to eat my lunch muffins.

1 The poop test is for your gut health (microbiome.) The blood test is - I think- for the fat test ^after you have eaten the muffins' ( there are two sorts and one has more fat than the other.) You only do the tests once.

From what I understand, you are guided through which foods to eat to increase gut health, once your poo is analysed. There is a scoring system where you have to try to reach at least 50 points of 'good' foods a day (that work for you.)

2 Blood sugar monitor. I think it's more about opting out otherwise you get it. But there is a definitely a yes/no option.

3 Can't answer this yet but I've signed up for one month as I have been trying to do the 30 plants a day for some time (pre joining Zoe) so I feel I may be able to do it myself once I know what suits my health.

the 30 plants a day

30 plants a week! (getting carried away with it all) 😂

@Nightskyatnight i can give you a referral code if you'd like one. @Wombat27A kindly gave me one. Send me a PM if you'd like. i put that sensor on on monday but applied it wrong and now waiting for a new one and another set of muffins. Frustrating to have to wait!

Hope today went well @LisaLovedUp!

I am torn between two mindsets of 1) i should start improving my way of eating to be more zoe aligned and 2) i should eat what i want while i'm still an innocent 🤣🤣

LisaLovedUp · 17/11/2022 20:28

Ah, thanks @Jezzballs2000 !

I think you should just start and see what it shows up rather than trying to 'improve your diet' for the app because you may not be accurate with what you think is good or bad foods for you.

I have done day 1 which was a challenge.
I was nervous about messing anything up.

The muffins are horrible. I really struggled to eat 3- dry as dust and very sweet. The lunch ones are fluffier and were easier, but I couldn't eat anything 'real' till around 3pm. I was feeling quite full still but also desperate for some fruit or veg - or anything like real food!

I contacted them about something and they said that although you are supposed to eat the muffins in 15 mins, they will allow 90 mins max.

The blood sample was fine and I found that soaking my hands in hot water first really helped. I was expecting a problem as I am not a 'bleeder' when doing finger pricks, but this worked.

MadameLeotta · 19/11/2022 12:31

Hi, I couldn’t manage all 3 morning muffins, I honestly thought I’d be sick if I tried to force the third one down and when I logged them there was the option to record I’d only eaten 2. I wasn’t aware though that you could spread them over 90 minutes if needed and so was desperately trying to cram them into the 15 minutes! I hated them and still felt quite ill the following day.

I’ve got 3 days left of my cgm and then will just be waiting for my results. My diet is really terrible though, I skip meals and then grab toast or something convenient. I’m going to use the time whilst I’m waiting for my results to start planning some meals and getting more organised (I’m a very reluctant cook but am thinking of getting a slow cooker).

Wombat27A · 19/11/2022 18:09

An Instant Pot is good for batch cooking. I not a fan of slow cooking but IP & freezer is a good combo. Plus good for eggs, veg, etc.

MadameLeotta · 19/11/2022 19:41

Ooh what’s the difference? I’ll have a look at them…

MadameLeotta · 19/11/2022 19:42

I’m guessing from the name that they’re quicker 🤦🏻‍♀️

Wombat27A · 19/11/2022 23:15

Pressure cooker but also does a lot of other things, including slow cooking. It's really good, especially if you get distracted. 😁

MeandT · 28/11/2022 16:39

@MadameLeotta curious to know what level your blood sugar went up to if the muffins made you feel that unwell?

I've read about people getting really big spikes, but I didn't get over about 5.8 with the muffins, even though a few other meals have taken me over 7. Weirdly, exercise seems to make my number go higher than anything else - wondering if anyone else saw this, or am I just a real weirdo?!

DorothyVallens · 15/12/2022 09:21

Hi, does anyone have a referral code by any chance? Please PM if possible! TIA.

How's everyone getting on?

I've almost stopped recording my daily food as it's very difficult on the app when I cook from scratch.

I have found my scores interesting, but the actual quantities are way out, as I'm guessing for some of them and I think their 'portions' are hugely higher than what I'm eating.

I had to entre every single veg for a stir fry I'd made and without weighing each item it was pretty impossible to be accurate.

I'm not sure if they are counting carbs in fruit and veg.
Today I had very few carbs- 1 oat cake, 1 small portion of brown rice (about a tablespoon), and a tiny slice of choc brownie (home made and reduced sugar.)
I did have carrots, peppers, mushrooms, salad, nuts, fruit, eggs, fish etc.

My carbs for the day came to over 80gms which makes no sense at all.

Some of the things I ate 'can't be scored on the app'.

Hello! I never saw your post @LisaLovedUp! How is it going! and you @Wombat27A ? I got my results just after Christmas and probably should have waited until a bit after the break as i haven't been very motivated and barely open the app. So feels like a bit of a waste! I am pleased to see i had good sugar and fat and biome. It makes me feel ok about porridge or toast with the morning, as long as i include plant food/ fibre with them, whereas before I went with every fad diet going convinced keto etc was the best for me. I think it's really all about fibre!
