Hi, im really struggling at the moment, since sept last year iv been suffering with a lot of symptoms (ill list them below) iv seen the doctor numerous times and a neurologist who told me its anxiety. The problem is because my doctors know I suffer with anxiety I feel like there dismissing alot of my symptoms and they could be missing something serious like MS. I did have a shocking year I lost 2 of my much loved family members 😭 but these symptoms came out of nowhere, im not helping myself by googling but I cant help it I feel like I need reassurance. I have an amazing support system but im scared there no longer interested. Im a mum of 3 but I hide all of my worries from them, I never want them to over worry like I do. Advice would be much appreciated as to what you think my symptoms are.

@Starrr123 I'm on topiramate and carbamazepine for the headaches/migraines and the neuralgia, it's got better but it's still there. I haven't spoken to the neurologist since this time last year, he was supposed to call me in October, but didn't, I've been trying to chase it up but no one gets back to me. How are you?? Have you spoken to anyone about it are you on any medications? Have you seen a dentist about the facial pain? It could be a tooth on a nerve or something. It was the dentist who mentioned the trigeminal neuralgia with me then the neurologist confirmed it x

@Chubbymummy12 maybe you need go up the dose ? Its so shit isnt it :(
My dentist refered me to the oral max who said tmj and now saying neuralgia!
The neurologist sAid (over a year ago ) when pregnant . To try gabapentine so i may try it now! Mine ztarted since having covid and being pregnant! It sucks. I hate it sooo much! X

@Chubbymummy12 also how would u describe your pain. Xx

@Starrr123 I can't go up a dose without speaking to the neurologist it's such a pain, the gp have increased it as much as they can as per his instructions, and have actually gone 25mg over in the migraines ones but refuse to increase any further. And I can't get hold of the neurologist, I'm just going round in circles so I just have to avoid the triggers and cope. My neuralgia feels like burning in the jaw spreading up the side of my face, I also get what feels like zapping electric shocks, it causes a migraine, makes my nose and eyes water, it's just horrific. Il bite down on some solid chocolate then just stand there silently with my eyes and nose streaming while the side of my face is burning and zapping. Or if I'm out on a cold rainy windy day, I find it hurts in my ears and the side of my face and it set off the electric type shocks. The air con in shops triggers it too, especially Aldi and especially in the summer! Hope some of my waffling on helps x

Just an update for you all...
I had a brain and cervical spine mri done in July and got my results back a few days ago, they have said it's all normal thankfully 🤗 so anxiety has a lot to answer for. I'm on 10mg of amitripyaline now which helps drastically with my sleep and my symptoms have settled a lot. Not 100% but id's say 80%. I'm going to try and move on from all of this it's been 2 years of worry, panic, fear and grief.

As your vitanin d was low, I'd start with that and get some 2000iu/50mcg strength ones and take everyday the whole year through to slowly raise and maintain levels. These are very reasonably priced in Home Bargains or Savers. A good multivitamin could also help. Stress is definitely playing it's part here and some of the symptoms you are having could also be types of migraines . I get all these symptoms when under that level of stress. Go back to the GP and insist on more tests if you are still concerned, take care.

@Chanletch87 how are you know on the amitriptyline? :) x

Chanletch87 · 12/05/2023 14:43

@Starrr123 really well, iv just gone up to 20mg because it stopped having a positive affect on my sleep so I'm hoping this will work better for me x
