Hi, im really struggling at the moment, since sept last year iv been suffering with a lot of symptoms (ill list them below) iv seen the doctor numerous times and a neurologist who told me its anxiety. The problem is because my doctors know I suffer with anxiety I feel like there dismissing alot of my symptoms and they could be missing something serious like MS. I did have a shocking year I lost 2 of my much loved family members 😭 but these symptoms came out of nowhere, im not helping myself by googling but I cant help it I feel like I need reassurance. I have an amazing support system but im scared there no longer interested. Im a mum of 3 but I hide all of my worries from them, I never want them to over worry like I do. Advice would be much appreciated as to what you think my symptoms are.

I have very similar symptoms OP and also have severe anxiety at times, I have also wondered about MS but I think anxiety can take its toll physically. My symptoms also worsen before my period don't know if that's the same for you?

Chanletch87 · 29/07/2021 16:31

@TuesdayRuby thank you, Im going to have my neck seen too, if thats where all these symptoms are coming from then hopefully it will be sorted ASAP, its definitely worth a shot x

@Chanletch87, I'm under doc for anxiety, not pains though. Very similar pains to you, last 2 weeks I've had a bit of a 'flare up' as I call it, really stiff painful neck, shoulders and joints to the point where I can't sleep cos of the pain, headache, pain over my left eye and like theres a tight band over my nose, acid reflux, etc but then last couple of days I feel like I'm going to come on and symptoms have got loads better. Like a previous poster said could be peri menopause but I'm 46 so definitely more in that age bracket than you. Could be also just be a general hormonal thing though and just gets heightened by the anxiety iyswim?

@Chanletch87 Me too! I’ve been suffering with tingling legs and feet, sometimes they feel like they’re burning. Tonight my right leg has been aching like I’ve walked a lot (which I haven’t). I’ve had a neurological exam by the GP and nerve conduction studies at the hospital, which turned up nothing but carpal tunnel in my hands (that started recently too). I’ve had all my vitamins and thyroid checked too and they have all come back normal. I’ve also developed dry eyes and blepharitis, which I’ve never had before. The latest thing is abdominal and upper back pain, which I am currently having investigated. I’ve also got two slipped discs in my lower back, which I am seeing a chiropractor for, they think the tingling is connected to my discs but the GP and nerve conduction studies didn’t agree.

I also suffer from anxiety, which has increased 10 fold with all the unexplained health issues 😥 It’s really awful isn’t it, I keep worrying that I’ve developed MS too… 😭

I have the same, seem to start when we had that hot weather and hasn't stopped. Did message my Doctors and took photos but as I had already had my bloods taken not long ago and they were fine, they said to leave it and see how I got on. Funny thing with me is my legs/feet don't seem to tingle and annoy me at night, just during the day off and on. I also have dry eyes/bleph, dry mouth, just put it down to peri-menopause. Maybe the peri-menopause is the cause for my legs to start miss-behaving?? Ugh, nuisance. I also suffer from anxiety.
It's awful when doctors are so dismissive, I feel for you OP. Have you had your bloods checked? Also at the same time they can check for any possible vitamin or mineral deficiency.

Michelleheidi · 15/08/2021 07:48

@Chanletch87 just wondering if your symptoms have got any better? I have the exact same symptoms as you for months now, I also have suffered with health anxiety since October 2020 but I have also developed a weird twitching sensation under my left eye for the last 9 weeks.. I was with my gp 2 days ago and she said she’s fairly certain that the twitch is just stress and so is all my other symptoms but because I’m after getting myself so worked up about ms he has referred me for an mri just to put my own mind at rest I just can’t settle myself worrying that this is a serious illness. Even tho the chances are it’s more than likely anxiety cause it I’m driving myself absolutely mad I can’t think of anything else 😭

Chanletch87 · 15/08/2021 08:49

@Michelleheidi hi, I know how you feel have you got all my symptoms? I actually went to a chiropractor on Friday he said im suffering with Sternocleidomastoid which is tense muscles around neck area he pressed in them and it sent shooting pain down both arms 🙄 which is whats causing my weakness, and tingling in face and hands also the pressure in my forehead. Im now seeing him weekly. I know some of my symptoms are anxiety but its the anxiety that's making it worse. Iv personally give up with my gp so I'm trying to find solutions myself, he did say that this isn't ms though because I told him about my concerns. I could be waiting months for an mri and my mental health cant cope with that x

I also have all the symptoms you have. The digestive ones are driving me insane atm. I am back and forward to the gp (frustrating telephone consultations which are getting me no where fast). I too am told that it’s stress/anxiety but it’s such a vicious cycle because the more I suffer from the symptoms the more I am stressing that it’s something bad. I just feel crap from head to toe.

Chanletch87 · 15/08/2021 09:20

@Thewholeshackshimmy its awful isnt it, because I'm always in a state of worry the symptoms never go. I was sick of the doctors just giving me antidepressants and upping my dose so I'm trying to find other ways to get answers because I know its not just anxiety. Im now off antidepressants and taking cbd and seeing a chiropractor. If it works then great if not ill have to just wait for the mri and see what they say x

Apparently MS is one of the most self diagnosed illnesses with people who suffer from anxiety because the symptoms mimic each other. Which doesn't help us who are concerned we have it and have to wait month and months for it to be ruled out. I hate feeling like this, I feel like its impacting my whole family 😭 x

@Chanletch87 I go to physio. I had another flare on Monday and Tuesday and was at physio on Tuesday afternoon. She did massage, cupping and traction, also had dry needling. It's fantastic. Got up Wednesday and could move again. When I had the first session of dry needling in June all my head pressure had disappeared.

Michelleheidi · 15/08/2021 10:47

@Chanletch87 yes I hav every one of your symptoms but some are slightly different like my back and neck pain are just on my right side and the pain comes and goes.. I do also have an eye twitch that I have had for 9 weeks now that’s under my left eye thats probably the symptom I’m most worried about as I know it can be related to ms, I had he worse headache last night behind my right eye aswell of course I’m im Googling all these symptoms together and ms just keeps coming up 😭I’m constantly crying thinking about all this… my gp said I will be less than 4 weeks waiting for my mri so at least I will get that done soon, she also booked me in for bloods this week to rule out any vitamin deficiencies and anemia I did have bloods done in February and my iron levels wer quite good but my vitamin levels were not checked.. maybe it might be worth my while going to see a chiropractor

Michelleheidi · 15/08/2021 10:55

@Thewholeshackshimmy I’ve been having severe digestive issues too my gp done a stool sample and had it tested for h pylori bacteria which only came Bk Friday and was negative so she has ruled out a lot of infections through that, she did tell me anxiety can flare up digestive issues so she is putting these issues down to anxiety too it’s just a viscous circle 😭

Chanletch87 · 15/08/2021 11:29

@Michelleheidi I had my bloods done and my Vit D was low but not low enough for a prescribed supplement so I got some myself I also take b12. I google everything and end up in a mess, I know I shouldn't but I cant help it. The only reassuring thing iv found is the anxiety centre website it has a full list of symptoms some sound so bizarre but it shows what anxiety can do. Im trying to keep away from it all, the chiropractor made me cry on Friday when he said I know what it is and it can be fixed 😭 thats all iv wanted to hear in nearly 12 months, I honestly thought I was going insane. Im glad your not waiting long for an mri though that should put your mind at rest x

Chanletch87 · 15/08/2021 11:32

@Bluearsedfly36 iv heard a lot about dry needling, I think after my chiropractor sessions end im gonna book in for that. Im a dog groomer so this will probably help keep everything loose. Im glad your feeling better after your session. X

@Michelleheidi

This is from the anxiety centre website

Twitching can affect ANY muscle or group of muscles in the body, including those in the head, face, eyes, mouth, neck, shoulders, back, chest, abdomen, stomach, esophagus, groin, genitalia, arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, toes, etc.
Muscle twitching anxiety symptoms can persistently affect one muscle, group of muscles, or groups of muscles only; can shift and affect another muscle, group of muscles, or groups of muscles; and can migrate all over and affect many muscles or groups of muscles.
Anxiety muscle twitching can come and go rarely, occur frequently, or persist indefinitely. For example, you have muscle twitching once in a while and not that often, have it off and on, or have twitching all the time.

Hope this brings you some reassurance xxx

@Chanletch87 I was taking vitamin b12 and vitamin d for a couple of months but I stopped thinking that they could be causing some of my symptoms but thinking back now I was sleeping better and was a bit calmer when I was taking them so after I get my bloods done this week I’m going to start taking them again and see how I get on.. I’m the same I google absolutely everything I hav diagnosed myself with so many serious illnesses in the last 10 months it’s shocking and my gp is really good she has sent me for every single test I have asked for and been panicking about just to rule things out and calm me down but she has always tried to reassure me that this is all down to anxiety and it will clear itself up if I stop worrying about it but obviously the only way is for her to get me the all clear on these tests I’m sure when she sees me or my name coming up she thinks to herself this mad one again I wonder what illness she has this week 🙈 thank you so much for that information about the twitching the doctor has tried to convince me that stress is a huge factor in twitching I just need to accept it but this post definitely backs up what she has been saying to me.. I’m going to hav a look on that website now and see can I settle myself a bit, thank you so much 🥰

NotWanting · 15/08/2021 12:11

Just wanted to say that I have MS and with today's medication it really isn't that bad. Obviously when I was first diagnosed it was very scary but 4 years on and I rarely even think about it. Work full time etc.

Chanletch87 · 15/08/2021 12:15

@NotWanting im sorry you have MS but its amazing that there's so many wonderful treatments now. I thinks its more the unknown we worry about. I think of MS and think the worst but its Obviously not like that for everyone x

Chanletch87 · 15/08/2021 12:18

@Michelleheidi its so scary how our minds work. I hope you feel a bit better after reading through that website. Even if its just temporary reassurance its better then nothing. It helps knowing your not on your own with all of this (well I find it helps anyway) im just hoping for a day where ill be worry and symptom free x
