Pops your feet get bigger the more you run and you should also get a bigger size running show than your normal size.

i don't think you should run until you get the shoes, it's a shame you couldnt get the right shoes in th first place. I'm not condoning getting yourself into debt but could you put them on visa and pay next month, being able to run would take your mind off the other money hassles (bloody cars so expensive). but until you get them maybe don't run or go to local leisure center gym and use running machine. I know it's boring on treadmill but it's easier on your knees. Also with the run walk thing, that is actually a ligitimate and very effective race technique, some marathon runners have done sub 3.30 times by running at about race pace for 1 mile then a half mile walk then off again. obvioulsy i'm not encouraging you to sprint one km then walk a bit but it's a possible way of doing it.

Veggiemummy · 12/08/2007 12:56

ps i havent run since the tri last sunday but we are going to Derby again overnight so i'm packing my shoes and doing my fav little run up there tomorrow morning.

LittleSarah · 12/08/2007 17:53

Hey kids, hope you're all well.

YOU CAN DO IT POPSY!!

Planned to run 4 miles today and thinking about it last night really lost motivation. Kept thinking about bad run on Thursday and justifying having a day off and then telling myself to get a grip and just do it!

In the end, I did it. Phew. Was tiring, but kept slow (43.40mins) and steady and felt okay actually. So pleased I actually went back out as I'm feeling more confident about the whole thing again.

popsycal · 12/08/2007 18:29

wow - those shoes are an excellent find...

I have also just found a cheque that I have not cashed yet for £30 (from the council in payment for using real nappies....) and if I then sell some of said nappies which I have stopped using AGES ago on ds2.........

No run.
I was thinking of getting myself down to the leisure centre actually - I used to LOVE the gym. Think I will book myself for an induction this week and go. I get discount too being a council employee

I don't have a visa card (after many years of running up bills) but if I get this cheque in first thing tomorrow, and transfer some money from one account to another temporarily, maybe I can get them.
Wonder how quick they deliver

popsycal · 12/08/2007 18:33

I also want to just say thank you again - to saggarmaker for taking time to find my shoes and to everyone else for the brill advice and encouragement......

mamamoo · 12/08/2007 19:05

I looked at Natterjack.co.uk have some Brooks Adrenaline from £34.99 but I didn't have time to go through all to see if size 8...did come across a 8 and a half

I sell my cloth nappies and wraps at www.thenappylady.co.uk they get snapped up really quickly!

well done for getting out there little Sarah!

popsycal · 12/08/2007 19:09

mamamoo - I have trawled through most of the sites listed on runners' world - there were a few cheaper pairs than fifty quid (and on ebay) but not in my size....
will have a bit more of a look when ds1 is in bed - and if not I will get the ones that saggar found i think....
and then getting taking photos of nappies

popsycal · 12/08/2007 19:17

found saucony omni 5 on ebay
for cheaper.......
Need to see if they are different from omni 6.....

popsycal · 12/08/2007 19:52

woohooo!!!

I have ordered them! DH also has a cheque for £10 that needs cashing.
I am a happy bunny

Wallace · 12/08/2007 20:17

Really chuffed - I did 7.5 miles today. Took me 1h21. I found it not too bad at all

popsycal · 12/08/2007 20:30

wallace - that is amazing!!! well done!!!

How did you build up to it? WHat have you been doing in the weeks before?

DoubleBluff · 13/08/2007 20:21

Weel after two weeks of doingnothing but drinking wine and lying on the beach, went out tonight and managed 3 miles in 1/2 hr.
Am making myself enter the Cardiff 10k on 09/09 which gives me less than 4 weeks to get prepared so as so many of us a have 10ks int the next few weeks lets keep each other motivated!
I am going to trry the RW 10 k schedule.
The rqce is described as flat and fast, how fast is fast?!!!

Wallace · 13/08/2007 20:50

wELL DONE db

popsycal - thanks I do a long run once a week. This was the end of week 5 of my schedule. Week 1 the long run was 3 miles, week 2 was 40 mins, then 5 miles, then 60 mins, then 7 miles (i did extra half)

mamamoo · 13/08/2007 22:08

Just done 7.3 miles in 1h 20, is the longest run from my schedule so nice to know that I don't need to do more than this! Wasn't too bad but got back to DH about to phone police (he thought I was doing a half hour run!)

popsycal · 13/08/2007 22:14

i want tio run

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2007 22:45

not long now pops and you will have those shoes, take the first couple of runs easy too to see how your legs are, don't look at your distance just run a set time.

did a 5km run this morning in 27and half minutes. I have decided not to do the seaford tri but would like to give myself 2 challenges, to keep trinaing without the motivation (fear) of a race and to do a 25min 5km. I have always wanted to do it am sure i could but will have to get on the running machine and do some sprint training and maybe some hills down in greenwich park too (aaahhhh). I will keep up the swimming and a little cycling to keep me sane but am really wanting to prove i can do this. I also wouldnt mind losing the 7km that seems to have set up house and wont leave post birth (2yrs ago mind).

well done wallace. Pops i would have been interested in the nappies but DS has decided that he would like to start toilet training now. Has used the potty and toilet with no accidents and without having to be prompted for the pat 2 days now, tomorrow we leave the house without nappies on, wish me luck.

well done wallace and mammamoo for the long runs, doublebluff 3miles in 30 is pretty good after the 2 weeks off, must have been the wine. and littlesarah well done for getting out when you didnt fancy it, good motivation.

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2007 22:50

ooh meant 7kg of fat that has set up house not 7km. i don't know even know how much 7kms of fat would be.

DoubleBluff · 14/08/2007 19:42

Conjures up all sort of images!
Well done Wallace and Mamamoo.on those distances.
Have just paid my money to do the Cardiff 10k so no backing out now!

Wallace · 14/08/2007 19:57

lol veggiemum at 7 km of fat, think that's what I have round my belly...

pops - hope you're able to run again soon. Are you selling nappies, btw?

DB - when is your 10k?

popsycal · 14/08/2007 20:04

Wallace - I am selling nappies if I get my arse in gear and list them and get photos sorted. DS2 only used them for a short while so they are in good condition.

I am hoping to get out for a run tomorrow.....

mamamoo · 14/08/2007 20:47

20 mins only tonight...enough after last nights effort! Feeling tired no more running now til Fri I think.

Popsy you don't have any XL motherease airflow wraps do you?

DoubleBluff · 14/08/2007 21:31

Wallace my 10k is 9th Sept. Not that far away unfortunately!

popsycal · 15/08/2007 07:37

Mamamoo - I do. They are white. One is second hand and well worn but still usable. The other was used as a night wrap for ds1 2 years ago for just a few months......

Veggiemummy · 15/08/2007 14:22

aaaahhhhh this toilet training thing is not easy not helped by DS not liking wearing underpants, he just wants to be naked.

anyway just yoga for me tonight, i sooooo need it. i think i am getting a massage sometime this week by a friend so happy about that. also having some trouble with hips and left hamstring have a referral to physio so will see how that goes.

DebitheScot · 15/08/2007 14:29

Back from holiday where I did no exercise at all except walking around. Played badminton last night and will try to go for a 30 min ish run tomorrow. I'm going up to Dundee next week and while I'm there will go to the running shop there that my mum uses to get myself a new pair of shoes as I want to get them fitted properly (I'm sure there must be a good running shop near here but don't know where). I've been running in trainers that I've been wearing for non running stuff for about a year and the arch on my right foot has been sore on and off since I started running again and I suspect those trainers aren't helping.
Then I'll have to get down to some serious training when I get back.
