Trapped wind is no laughing matter

It's agony. I'm always bloated but this is awful and really need pearls of wisdom. It's eight at the top of my stomach, chest, under my left ribs. Definitely "just" wind as diagnosed by gastro. I've taken loads of windeze, charcoal, tried colpermin and mint tea. Tried arse in the air. How I can I shift it??

It is horrible to be in such pain but hopefully one way or another you’ll be sorted so you can then crack on with Christmas. Don’t worry x

Peppermint cordial & soda water, works for trapped wind, heartburn, IBS, nausea or nearly all stomach problems, I used to work behind a bar & the landlady used to swear by that & also Angostura Bitters, a tiny drop & soda water for stomach & bowel problems. I've had a lot of Laparoscopies & always use Rennie Deflatine to get rid of the gas that they use for those.

Peppermint oil is given to women who have c sections, who have trapped wind.

And it's effective within minutes.

And normally doesn't come back.

But as you've already tried tea and capsules, I'm starting to wonder if this isn't actually something else?? More serious? You might need to see a GP?

Sympathies, OP. I am prone (and have had my own fart-birthing threads in the past!) and you’re right, it’s bloody painful. I nearly took myself to A&E with the worst episode, convinced it had to be something worse after several hours of pretty much everything suggested on this thread. Just as I was debating how to get there, dropped the biggest fart you’ve ever heard. I cried with relief Blush

I saw an ooh GP. He felt my stomach, listened to my heart and checked my pulse as I was worried that it had gone to my breast bone. He said I'm having a flare up of acid on top of trapped wind. I already take esomeprazole so he's given ranitidine on top and said it's probably time for another endoscopy as it's been years.

Ah op I had awful trapped wind for 3 days after my csec whilst in hospital. As in I was crying it was so bad, worse than the pain from the surgery itself. Peppermint liquid didn't cut it.
In the end my friend came in and gave me loads of sugar free stuff and orange juice which basically gave me the worst diorreah of my life a few hrs later, but also cured my trapped wind Blush
Would have been okay if I wasn't in hospital!
I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi how are you feeling today ?

avoschmado · 24/12/2018 09:00

Thanks for asking @MrsJayy. I've had two doses of ranitidine now which has definitely helped. Seems it's a flare up of gastritis along with trapped wind but it's definitely easing touching all wood.
