Trapped wind is no laughing matter

It's agony. I'm always bloated but this is awful and really need pearls of wisdom. It's eight at the top of my stomach, chest, under my left ribs. Definitely "just" wind as diagnosed by gastro. I've taken loads of windeze, charcoal, tried colpermin and mint tea. Tried arse in the air. How I can I shift it??

Lie flat on your back, arms above your head and stretch for five minutes, your feet, legs, stomach, arms - everything!

Should clear it, you’ll know 5 minutes after you stand up. Works every time.

HermioneWaslib · 22/12/2018 19:40

I’ve reluctantly recently taken up the low-fodmap diet for wind issues and it’s making such a difference xx

Fuzzywig · 22/12/2018 19:44

Huge pack of love hearts or other similar fizzy sweets

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 22/12/2018 19:46

When I get this I stand up, bend down to touch my feet as far as I can. Relax there and let my tummy hang for a few seconds. (The key is to really relax everything) then when you stand back up you should be able to fart it out. Works for me every time.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 22/12/2018 19:49

It sounds like it could also be your gall bladder. Definitely not gall stones?

Hoddykins · 22/12/2018 19:52

Hot water bottle/microwave heat pack is the only thing that helps me

puppypalavas · 22/12/2018 19:57

I get on forearms and knees and rock back and forth. I stick my bum in the air and rock for a few minutes.
Works every time.

Medicaltextbook · 22/12/2018 20:04

I curl up almost fetal position lie on left side. A hot water bottle may not work but it makes me feel better.

carameldecaflatte · 22/12/2018 20:14

Ugh it's awful!
As soon as I feel it coming on I drink very hot water with apple cider vinegar. Also keep moving, rocking, stretching (moaning, crying, etc) until it passes.
You have my sympathy. Flowers

keepingbees · 22/12/2018 20:27

I swear by Rennies. I have IBS and get some bad symptoms and painful trapped wind. They've never not helped.

MrsJayy · 22/12/2018 20:30

Boiled water couple of mugs full I have started to take probiotic capsules and i am so much better than i usedto be.

avoschmado · 22/12/2018 20:46

Thank you. Currently in the foetal position. Dh has no idea how desperate I am to fart 😂

OP posts:
edwardcullensotherwoman · 22/12/2018 20:52

Get DH to rub or pat your back, behind the area where you can feel the wind. Long term I'd say get some peppermint cordial, I be always found that in some warm water to be 10 times more effective than mint tea (introduced to me by a lovely old fashioned midwife when I was crying with post surgery gas!) Hope it passes soon OP!

MummySharkDoDo · 22/12/2018 21:03

Lying on my back with my knees up and a few pillows under my bum works for me!

ShadyLady53 · 22/12/2018 21:07

Peppermint oil works wonders for me Blush

Hushnownobodycares · 22/12/2018 21:10

I Dr Googled this when I was desperate.

Hands and knees with arse in the air for about ten minutes or so. Did the trick then but I've no desire to see if it works on a regular basis.

SymphonyofShadows · 22/12/2018 21:18

I’ve found that I have to get my knees right up and pressing in for the arse in the air to work

Watto1 · 22/12/2018 21:20

This may sound ridiculous, but can you stand on your head? Works for me!

picklemebaubles · 22/12/2018 21:21

My digestion has been much better since introducing lots of probiotics.

Funnyface1 · 22/12/2018 21:32

Milk of magnesia.

RefuseTheLies · 22/12/2018 21:36

Downward dog. Always need to fart afterwards in yoga class!

SPR1107 · 22/12/2018 21:42

Hands and knees and roll backwards to sitting on ankles and back up again.

And swinging off the door frames, hold on and just try and stretch out as much as you can

KarBB · 22/12/2018 22:04

Yoga (you can find specific exercises for digestion online) & walking help me. The FODMAP diet helps me too though life is too short so I rarely follow it as carefully as I should.
I take Buscopan for IBS as soon as I feel some cramping coming on after a heavy meal or stress & it really helps.
Oh and warm baths too!

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 22/12/2018 22:42

Lie on your back bring your knees up to your chest wrap your arms around them then roll to the right hold roll to the left hold and repeat works every time for me

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 22/12/2018 22:47

A couple of cups of hot water sort me out. Or Andrews salts. Sympathies OP, it's horrible.
