Namechanged.

Last night I wet the bed. I don’t mean a quick rush to the loo. I mean a full gush and my side of the bed from my waist to my ankles was soaked.

I was so shocked/ashamed/embarrassed that I just lay in it. I couldn’t wake DP and tell him.

I managed to get my soaked shorts off without disturbing DP and he’s gone to work now so the bedding is in the wash and I’m showered.

It was about 2am.

WTF?

Is this in anyway normal? Should I be worried? WTF?

Has this ever happened to you?

I think you need to discuss with your GP.

Soliciting other people's stories online is not going to help your individual health.

nellly · 13/07/2018 07:14

I once wet myself with out warning while riding a bike. I went to the GP and I had a very serious urinary tract infection which had spread to my kidney and was effecting the muscles. Bizarrely, despite normally being a bit of a wimp it had only caused very mild discomfort so I hadn't realised. Go see a GP they will be able to advise Thanks

Limpopobongo · 13/07/2018 07:29

Oh i think this could happen to anyone. You have some kind of semi dream and somehow you lt go. The key to it is, do you have any other symptoms and does it keep happening? if yes to either, consider GP discussion. If not, watch and monitor.

MissTulipan · 13/07/2018 07:32

Could be UTI, that can cause sudden wetting in children. I had sudden wetting as a teen. I never told anyone as too embarrassed and it went away. Go to GP armed ready with urine sample. Reception can give you a sample bottle in advance of apt.

Slartybartfast · 13/07/2018 07:34

i woudlnt go to GP for this one off.
pehraps you were in a very deep sleep

Dottydodaas · 13/07/2018 07:57

Thank you for these words of wisdom.

Dripfeeding here as still in shock.

I am a very, very deep sleeper. DP says it is my superpower. I sleep through thunderstorms and firework displays.

I have really vivid, involved dreams.

I am post-menopausal now, I think and I know that can change things.

I only drink decaffienated tea and had no alcohol yesterday and don’t use un-prescribed drugs.

Going to buy a waterproof mattress protector today.

Do you think I should tell DP?

You could get some of those bed pads to go under your sheet too. I would mention to dp that you are having an issue. Aren’t bodies lovely, always something unexpected.

it is up to you whether you tell your DP
no one can answer that question

Dottydodaas · 13/07/2018 08:30

Well thanks. I already feel like shit and came here for some advice and reassurance and now I’m in tears because you think I’m a creepy cunt.

What a very nice person you must be.

I might wet the bed but sheets can be washed but you’ll always be a deeply unpleasant, rude, obnoxious person who has no empathy for others.

Fuck off yourself.

Don't feel bad - I've had problems for years and still manage to (mostly) keep it from hubby ... he probably just thinks I change my clothes a lot. Ignore the troll love

cathyandclare · 13/07/2018 08:52

This happened to me once, I was dreaming that I was going to the loo and I did. It was years ago, never happened before and hasn't happened since, I too was mortified!

They do if they wear shorts in bed?

juneau · 13/07/2018 08:58

I would go to the GP about this, as it's clearly a new issue and you want some advice and reassurance. Plus, a whole wee, as opposed to a small trickle, is something you should get checked out as adults don't usually do this. I know some have a problem after heavy drinking, but as you weren't then you should get some advice.

Re: mattress protector - will your DH not this? I know I would. They're very hot too, because they're rubberised/plasticised.

RestingButchFace · 13/07/2018 08:59

lamagreyhound They might if they were wearing shorts as part of a pyjama set, I have several vest/short pyjama sets.

Look I have no idea what a pee troll is.

I have no idea why I’m being attacked in this way.

I wear shorts in bed with a vest top. Therefore, they are shorts. How else would you like me to describe them?

OP posts:
susurration · 13/07/2018 09:02

Well i wear shorts in bed? Does that make me a bloke trolling forums?

OP, it may just be a one off. If you have other symptoms like pain or a temperature then it might be worth a GP visit. How is your pelvic floor? I've known a few women with weak pelvic floors whose have got worse after menopause.
