Waiting for NHS24 to call me back.

On day 2 of coamoxiclav for antibiotics for kidney infection.

Don't feel too horrific but temp still 40c 1 hr after Paracetamol

Supposed to be going on local holiday today.

Managed to pack.

Do you think they'll let me go or will I have to go to hospital?

Been waiting ages and stressed out

Temp over 39 despite antibiotics would be an indication for hospital - sorry Sad

If you are otherwise well you might get away with a change of antibiotics.

LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:12

That's what I'm fearing.

Am well as you can be with a high fever I guess

Be very mindful of sepsis symptoms x

LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:14

Yes I definitely am, thanks :)

Is that what they advised you - hospital? Antibiotics take 48 hours to start working effectively so seems a little early to assume they are not working. Is holiday abroad?

LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:17

Havent advised me yet ..am waiting for call.

Holiday is,local thankfully but somewhere a bit more remote so thought I'd call for advice before going since no response at all yet to ABs

OP posts:
LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:17

Sadly nhs online advice for kidney infections is to seek advice if no response in 24 hours not 48

LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:24

Argh she said she'd advise not going but if I want to anyway I shd see someone at OoH so going there 1240

OP posts:
LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:29

OP posts:
LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:36

Her manner wasn't very kind really

OP posts:
LouKout · 08/04/2017 10:45

She said she wouldn't go so I have to listen to that

OP posts:
LouKout · 08/04/2017 12:44

Yay OOH gp said I should go as long as i call nhs 24 if no better tomorrow or get worse. She said there are perfectly good drs there.

LouKout · 09/04/2017 00:56

Please just go to hospital and get tested. I was in literally the same situation and didn't go in until I felt horrendous which didn't happen for a good 3-4 days later. I don't mean to scare you but I very nearly died from sepsis so I'm a bit over wary on things like this.
I'm sure it's nothing but please get checked just in case xx

LouKout · 09/04/2017 01:02

I was at hospital yesterday :) but yes due to go again today if not better. Have been seen every day this week, just cant seem to shift it.

OP posts:
LouKout · 09/04/2017 01:03

Is confirmed kidney infection, on antibiotics.

OP posts:
Gaggleofgirls · 09/04/2017 01:14

I had to have IV antibiotics to shift it plus another dose of oral once out. The docs didn't check for sepsis until it was almost too late, I'm sorry I'm so manic about it I just wish I'd asked why it wasn't shifting despite the symptoms at the time.

LouKout · 09/04/2017 01:20

No it's fine, i am grateful. They are checking each time for sepsis. Just hoping it shifts with thr oral ABs but if not looks like it will be IV ones. Not great on holiday but better than sepsis i know.

Am hoping the fact my back is less sore is promising. But still feel rough.
