Waiting for NHS24 to call me back.

On day 2 of coamoxiclav for antibiotics for kidney infection.

Don't feel too horrific but temp still 40c 1 hr after Paracetamol

Supposed to be going on local holiday today.

Managed to pack.

Do you think they'll let me go or will I have to go to hospital?

Been waiting ages and stressed out

Did you not ask for decent painkillers?

I suffer from water infections regularly, the twice I've ended up with it in my kidneys I've been in tears with the pain. I ended up on oramorph with the last one.

Gaggleofgirls · 09/04/2017 01:25

Good glad they're checking, yes I'd imagine any reductions in symptoms is a good sign.
Try and enjoy your holiday! Keep having paracetamol every 4hrs for the temp and tons of water, but steer clear of ibuprofen. All stuff they've probably told you 😊 Xx

UnbornMortificado · 09/04/2017 01:26

Just to reiterate the sepsis thing, my niece age two got it from a water infection. 2 GP's and an ambulance crew missed it, we nearly lost her it was horrible.

(I'm not slagging any HCP's off, apparently it can be easy to miss in children)

Please be vigilant.

Strangely they told me to take ibuprofen, and diclofenac.

Neck wasnt extremely sore until last night when I took cocodamol and diclofenac and used heatpads. I get sore back anyway. Thought it was just that again..i suspect i have had more UTIs than i thnk recently :(

I think I have stayed out of hospital as have not got to tbe oramorph/vomiting stage. But stuck in the high fever one.

Am being vigilant as terrified. Taking temp every hour

Dont know why i said my neck there. Obviously i meant my back. I get a lot of neck and back pain, so am possibly quite inured to pain.

Stop ibuprofen! I was taking it and it masked the sepsis for days!! It wasn't until after I was told you should never take anti inflammatorys with antibiotics!!!

LouKout · 09/04/2017 01:41

Ok ..was thinking of stopping anyway as it hurts my stomach.

LouKout · 09/04/2017 01:43

Didn't take anything until yesterday in fact..then OOH Dr said must keep fever down

OP posts:
Gaggleofgirls · 09/04/2017 01:58

I was given paracetamol every four hours for the fever. Just strip off and keep yourself cool and well hydrated xx

LouKout · 09/04/2017 02:03

Thanks, will do. Wasnt even sure why she was so insistent i reduce it

Just saw GP. Still got infection grrr. Changed to amoxicillin as coamoxiclav was upsetting stomach. Bloods and more urine sent to local hospital, fingers crossed we can keep enjoying holiday.

This is an epic tale now

SorrelSoup · 10/04/2017 17:56

Oh no! How do you actually feel?

bloated1977 · 10/04/2017 18:05

ammocillin will do nothing for a kidney infection. You need Cephalexin. This is the only thing that stops my kidney infections.

LouKout · 10/04/2017 18:17

Not sure why she gave it. I suppose because coamoxiclav was working a bit but upsetting my stomach.

OP posts:
LouKout · 10/04/2017 18:49

I have actually felt better today but very sore and temp 38 so not exactly amazing.
