Testing

OP posts:
sunnywong · 26/01/2007 13:51

does it involve an orifice?

foxtrot · 26/01/2007 13:51

spill....

MrsMills · 26/01/2007 13:51

2 orifices?

Kaloo20 · 26/01/2007 13:52

Now I have to 'watch' this thread .....

Beauregard · 26/01/2007 13:53

We are listening!

Blu · 26/01/2007 13:53

Is that you, willNEVERtell?

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 13:53

Ok good

Basically my IBS has now cranked up to a point where I have soiled myself 3 times in 2 days. I have kept my child off school because I can't walk him there. Fucking marvellous. I have told NOBODY, not my partner, mother, even my DOCTOR. HOw can I go to the doc and say, "Hi, I know I am a woman in my 20's but I soil myself and don't even realise sometimes." I can't

Please please just give me some sympathy and please don't tell me to tell anyone because I really would rather die.

OP posts:
sunnywong · 26/01/2007 13:53

leakage or trapped foreign object?

MrsMills · 26/01/2007 13:53

must be a long story

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 13:54

Yers leakage. that's bad isn't it, when someone is joking but they are RIGHT!

OP posts:
deegward · 26/01/2007 13:54

No sorry you can never beat me on this one.. last year had to have a test which involved a catheter, lots of jumping up and down, and a pampers mat on the floor.

No more needs to be said, and I win the most embaressing thing ever in your life, and btw, the doctor was good looking too.

sunnywong · 26/01/2007 13:54

oh you poor love

right, now you've had some sympathy can we take the piss a little bit just to take the edge off it?

deegward · 26/01/2007 13:55

oh sorry, by the time I had typed you had put yours down.

beansprout · 26/01/2007 13:55

You have a problem with your digestive system and it is doing what digestive systems do. Please go and talk to your GP, you really don't need to manage this on your own. It's horrible that on top of all the physical discomfort and inconvenience, that you are feeling ashamed and lonely too. GPs really have heard a great deal worse!

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 13:55

No cause I'm crying. take the piss later when Ive gone to be.

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/01/2007 13:55

bless you

are you sure it is IBS and not Crohns or Ulcertive colitis

do you take any meds?

it might be worth subscribing to the NACC , which is a national support group for people with inflammatory bowel disease as they have lots of people in the same boat

what diagnostic tests have you had?

CountessDracula · 26/01/2007 13:56

Are you sure it isn't IBD not IBS
Sounds much more likely tbh

NotQuiteCockney · 26/01/2007 13:56

Ugh, poor you.

You really do have to talk to your doctor, although you don't have to get into that much detail. If you're soiling yourself, I'm guessing the problem is diarrhea? I gather there are some good treatments for IBS these days? (I used to suffer a bit, but it's pretty good since I a) stopped a stressful job and b) started eating a lot better.)

Also, how is your pelvic floor? That would be a factor, I'd wager ...

CountessDracula · 26/01/2007 13:56

ooh snap Lulumama

sweetmonkey · 26/01/2007 13:56

you aren't on your own

i suffered with ibs for years and even though i didnt properly shit myself without meaning to sound gross it was more froth and to be honest i dont think you can control it.

i was embarrassed to begin with too but at the end of the day i wanted it sorted more

you really should go to your docs who might be able to give you something to control the ibs.

it really is worth it. you are not alone

MrsMills · 26/01/2007 13:56

I think you already know the answer to this, and it's not one that will go away.

I know it's a cliche, but the doctor really has seen it al before and much much worse. Be a very brave girl and please make an appointment.

itsmeNDP · 26/01/2007 13:56

Oh, will never tell

I know it is mortifying but please go and see your doctor or your local incontinence specialist nurse. They are very sympathetic and really helpful and very professional. You shouldn't be suffering this in silence , after all, how long can you realistically hide it for ?

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 13:56

Doc knows I have IBS andn he knows the ahem CONSISTANCY but not it's spiteful little after effects

OP posts:
sunnywong · 26/01/2007 13:57

sorry, misjudged the tone

seems like you are going to have to go to your doctor, or a locum so you never have to see them again

lulumama · 26/01/2007 13:57

i have crohns and have had many unpleasant and distressing tests. but less distressing than the pain and illness i was going through

please see the doctor...it is so important if your bowel is not functioning correctly, there will be things that can help

(((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))
