I don't know. Do you really want the details? It's not painful, for a start

tissy · 26/01/2007 13:58

ok, first lots of sympathy

If you can't tell your doctor, how about a continence nurse? Ring up your local large hospital and ask the switchboard if there is one. There usually is. Then speak to her. She will have heard it all (and worse before). You GOT to tell someone if this is interefering with your childs schooling, otherwise you'll have the EWO round, and you don't want to tell them all about it, do you?

deegward · 26/01/2007 13:58

Again same advice from me, although what I went through was embaressing, now all sorted I am sooo glad I had it done.

jalopy · 26/01/2007 13:58

willNEVERtell, how awful for you. Please tell your doctor. This won't be the first time he/she has heard of it. This is not only have a major impact on your life but also your child's too. Be brave, nothing is going to shock your GP, honest!

WanderingTrolley · 26/01/2007 13:58

Given the circs, could you get a home visit from your gp?

And can you invent an excuse and ask a friend to do the school run?

And your gp will have treated patients with your symptoms, honestly. Doesn't take the embarrassment factor out for you, but you really won't be judged by your gp.

lulumama · 26/01/2007 13:58

yes, CD....i think that it is more likely IBD not IBS...and it is treatable, to a point ! certainly to help you get through this ...

Gingerbear · 26/01/2007 13:58

Fellow IBS sufferer here:

For disaster aversion - immodium.

Have you tried mebeverine? My only problem with taking it is trying to remember to take it 20 mins before food.

Being pregnant is great as I get at least 10 minutes warning these days before I need to clear all paths to the loo. (unless for a pee - that is a different story)

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 13:58

It's ok Wong I love you because you are flippant

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/01/2007 13:59

do you have any blood or mucous in your poo?

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 13:59

I just don't think I can go to my doctor who has known me since I was nine, and say those words.

OP posts:
saltireneepsandtatties · 26/01/2007 14:00

Oh poor you. You really do need to speak to your doctor though - or a different one perhaps?

itsmeNDP · 26/01/2007 14:00

I know a continence nurse and she is fabulous. I feel awful thinking of you going through this and feeling ashamed of something you don't have control over and that you can get help for.

lulumama · 26/01/2007 14:00

can you afford to see a private GP?

or see a different doctor at the practice?

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 14:01

No blood or mucous, no pain, lots of wind, always worse in the morning, varies (tmi coming) between mustard yellow and carroty orange, and is consistancy of soup

OP posts:
sunnywong · 26/01/2007 14:01

and usually a little bit tipsy by this time of night

WigWamBam · 26/01/2007 14:01

Oh my love, you know the answer already, don't you. You really do have to see the GP about this - they can't help you if they don't know the extent of the problem.

They will be able to help you if you ask for help; isn't it worth the initial embarrassment if it means you can be treated?

Your GP will have heard it all before, and won't bat an eyelid.

itsmeNDP · 26/01/2007 14:02

You can see any other doctor in your practice, it doesn't have to be the one you are registered with.

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 14:02

Will try to ring a continence nurse now. I didn't think of that. Thanks guys.

OP posts:
WanderingTrolley · 26/01/2007 14:02

Another gp at the practice? Can you speak to your gp on the phone - not being face to face can make it easier.

Such a horrible thing to go through - much much sympathy.

lulumama · 26/01/2007 14:02

do you think you might have an illness on top of it at the mo ? or food posioning>

itsmeNDP · 26/01/2007 14:02

Well done

willNEVERtell · 26/01/2007 14:03

i don't think I can say it to anyone's face TBH.

OP posts:
lulumama · 26/01/2007 14:04

poor you......

glad you are going to call the nurse x

sunnywong · 26/01/2007 14:04
