Week 11 is 'read the box'

Learn how to read the Ingredient List and the Nutrition Facts panel on packaged products so you can make healthier choices. Roadmap for Success Both the Ingredient List and the Nutrition Facts panel should be used in conjunction with one another, as each provides different types of information. When used together, they provide a window into the quality of the food, the quality of the ingredients, and the nutritional balance of the food.

We are continuing with:
1 drinking water
2 getting better sleep
3 moving more
4 keeping a food journal
5 being positive
6 taking a multivitamin
7 having a buffer zone between outside and inside
8 eating more veg
9 finding time alone
10 stretching

Flowers Sirona. I have been fasting to the evening and then eating something, but I used to do it fine when I did it regularly. Is bridge any good for lower backs?

DrDiva we are having issues with dd2's school, it is really stressful. Trying to be positive and calm: channelling Headspace and yoga!

OddSocksHighHeels · 09/03/2016 16:51

DrDiva Flowers thanks for taking over the threads. I'm back out of hospital now and will be having a catch up. Stretching sounds good to me after the amount of lying around I've been doing!

Hope everybody else is doing wellSmile

DrDiva · 09/03/2016 17:00

Trying to post to say hello to Oddsocks and keep being told my message is invalid Confused

OP posts:
DrDiva · 09/03/2016 17:16

Well that one worked so let's try again!

It's lovely to see you again Oddsocks and I hope you are feeling better. Have a big hug! Stretching does sound like a good one to start back in with... Must do better myself!

Weird. Any attempts to bold or use punctuation other than a full stop or exclamation marknstillnresulted in not being able to post. Anyone else having this?

OddSocksHighHeels · 09/03/2016 17:51

I'm not too bad, how are you?

Mine has been posting fine so far (wait for this not to post now!) have you asked in Site Stuff?

Pointlessfan · 09/03/2016 18:00

Welcome back oddsocks!

I did read packaging in the supermarket yesterday and out of the things I bought I was pleasantly surprised how normal the ingredients were!

DrDiva · 09/03/2016 18:05

Oh it's sorted itself out now! I think my phone was just too excited to see you Grin

OP posts:
Sirona · 09/03/2016 18:27

Glad to see you back and you're feeling better OddSocks!

Ah that doesn't sound as bad quirky, for some reason I always thought 5:2 was 5 days of food and 2 days fasting.

That's reassuring pointless

Still not feeling 100% but have made my vegetables and water today, my thinking being it'll help my immune system to be eating healthy.

gingercat02 · 09/03/2016 20:40

Good to have you back OddSocks hope you are feeling better Flowers

margaritasbythesea · 09/03/2016 22:23

Hello oddsocks !

Struggling to keep up with thread as one by one the house is going down with this.bug. Doing ok with the things though.

Hope you recovered from your fall

margaritasbythesea · 09/03/2016 22:27

Sorry that was supposed to say Sirona at the end.

Finally managed to eat some of my mother's day chocolate cake today. Rather unfaithfully to this thread, I did not read the ingredients, though dh did read me the calorific information just after I finished it. Thanks dh Hmm

margaritasbythesea · 09/03/2016 22:30

Ooo and figured out my weird knee. It's not my knee that hurt but my calf. Lots of stretches making it better. I will never not warm up properly before a run again, which I did about three weeks ago.

I'll stop now Blush

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 10/03/2016 00:01

Oh Socks darling, so nice to see you Flowers

A good week for you, gentle stretching.

Dr tech have been buggering around, we no longer have < > , I suspect the other twiddles are coming out in protest.

No need to stop margaritas, stream of consciousness is good, and nice to read.
Funny that transfer of pain thing isn't it Smile

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 10/03/2016 00:02

oops, there they are still!

quirkychick · 10/03/2016 07:11

Hello Oddsocks good to see you back. What happened, are you alright now?

Rubbishy sleep here, even when dd2 sleeping well, I am still hot! I am trying to adjust my maca powder, but you are supposed to do it gradually as it's a stimulant (didn't realise this to start with and I gave myself a headache - like a caffeine overdose Blush).

My daily yoga dvd from Shiva Rea has arrived, so I look forward to starting that, then I might go back to the Yoga with Adriene on You Tube.

Cooking from scratch, so I know what's in things. I am usually quite picky and dp often gets told off for buying stuff that is too junky Grin.

DrDiva · 10/03/2016 07:53

They have taken out those thingies?! (Do they have a name, other than greater than and less than?) how are we supposed to do stage directions now?

Water was terrible yesterday, crashed and burned on lc in the evening, and lost my cool entirely in the morning (mainly over the nursery issues). Hmm oh well, today is another day. LC breakfast consumed, water ready to go, and am doing 1-2-1 tutorials all day so have a bright smile pasted on!

At least I managed over 16,000 steps. Hmm

OddSocksHighHeels · 10/03/2016 08:16

Thank you all. quirky I've been on a psych ward, I'm not too bad now - I even managed to laugh at myself for the crazy stuff I was saying when I was first admitted. What's maca powder?

Dr they're called creepy wee brackets on here, I don't know if they have a real name too. I'm not happy about them being gone though, I like to overuse them!

NightWanderer · 11/03/2016 09:18

Glad to have you back OddSocks Smile

Hope you are doing ok.

quirkychick · 11/03/2016 09:24

Oh, glad you are feeling better Oddsocks, that sounds scary. Maca powder is a supplement that is supposed to help with perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms like annoying hot flushes that keep waking me up at 4:30am. Still trialing it, though.

Much better sleep last night, probably as we got through yesterday, which involved dp having his wisdom tooth out and a serious meeting with new ht at school. Just relieved we got through the day. Hope your nursery issues get sorted DrDiva.

Sirona · 11/03/2016 11:58

Glad you're feeling better OddSocks. A little humour at yourself doesn't hurt either :)

Sorry the maca powder isn't helping straight away quirky. I never knew it was a stimulant.

Hope you get the nursery sorted soon DrDiva, sounds stressful.

I had exactly the same thing with my shin margarita. Kept thinking it was shin splints and resting for weeks, turns out it seems to be coming from my calf. Long as I do proper calf and soleus stretches it goes away. Glad you got it fixed anyway. I'm thinking of trying a sports massage, see if that will help too.

quirkychick · 11/03/2016 16:57

Sirona thanks, have upped the dose to 3/4 tsp, so will see if that helps! I just need to do it slowly.

Trying out my "Daily Energy" yoga dvd, in the interests of regular stretching... yesterday's I could do but I worked up a sweat as the "flow" was quite fast, the abs not so much - my legs are just too tight, so hopefully it will help with flexibility. Today's needed a lot of modifying! Mostly backbend, which I'm fine with but with wide-legged variations, which I can't do, but might try with a strap next time. Blush.

I've done something I needed to do for ages, which is get fitted for a new bra(s). I was a bit desperate, but have been putting it off, as I usually see it as a chore. However, following advice on the Style and Beauty boards, I went to Bravissimo and my boobs look 20yrs younger! That and having my hair done on weds means I look better this week. Superficial, I know, but it's good to feel good about yourself Smile.

DrDiva · 11/03/2016 17:50

quirky how did your meeting with the head go? We have one next week!

You are all inspiring me to do yoga or Pilates or something. Hmm. Also of staging a bra intervention on myself as I can fit a fist under my strap Blush

LisaMumsnet · 11/03/2016 18:06

What a fab idea - I agree it's all too easy to just put off doing good things till tomorrow. I am smiling as I have already mastered several things on the list - nothing like a sense of achievement before you have to do some actual hard work. Good luck with this - off to stretch now myself...

quirkychick · 11/03/2016 20:12

Me too, LisaMumsnet I was also doing lots of these things too.

DrDiva I think the meeting went OK with the new head, as ever, it was a case of communication. We have had almost daily phonecalls about dd2 and were pissed off annoyed, but school have in fact been tracking her day/behaviours/triggers to come up with a plan. Would have been helpful if they had told us before hand. Luckily, I had spoken to the SENDCO already and had taken lots of outside advice. Unnecessarily stressful, though.
