Good evening all,

The old thread had nearly run out when I posted so I have taken the liberty of starting a new one before it fills up completely.

I hope the title is OK - there isn't actually that much room, I was trying to fit in that people should come along even if they haven't been diagnosed yet.

If you're new here welcome to the Tamoxigang thread. This is a great place for anyone with any type of cancer (it originally started out as those taking Tamoxifen for breast cancer, hence the name, but has expanded). Please introduce yourself and make yourself comfortable! You're more than welcome here if you haven't been diagnosed yet too, sometimes people find it helpful to talk through their fears whilst waiting for results. And we will hold your hand until you find out, and hopefully wave you on your way with an all-clear :) Flowers

There is almost always someone around to chat, or to answer any questions. Nothing is off-limits here. This is somewhere to offload any fears and frustrations, in a safe place where someone will have been there before.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the gorgeous summery weather Flowers

Hope your day isn't dragging too much nanny. Thinking of you.

Sciatica much improved I'm pleased to say

lovebeingananny · 02/12/2015 14:25

Today couldn't be any slower if it tried marshy, although I have reached the no eating and drinking part! So the countdown begins. Then it's just the joyous 1 litre of water to drink at 5pm, and then hoping and praying things aren't delayed Wink

Glad to hear things are improving for you. Flowers xx

mrsrhodgilbert · 02/12/2015 15:50

Crikey nanny, have you not had it yet? I've been thinking about you and came to see if it was all over. Hope it goes smoothly and that your nurse comes up with all the right answers tomorrow.

fresta · 02/12/2015 16:51

6pm? That's very late for a scan!

gingeroots · 02/12/2015 17:37

Oh nanny ,I'm another one who's been thinking of you all day .How unbelievably unlucky to have such a late scan ,makes it such a long day .

Good that you'll be talking to BCN tomorrow .

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 02/12/2015 18:48

nanny I hope they were running on time. It's a pain they didn't think to do the full body one first time round to save the extra hassle. I hope you get the results ASAP :)

Marshy glad your sciatica has improved.

Themodernuriahheep I hope your radiotherapy is going OK so far, and that the mask is not too unpleasant Flowers

Lifeoverboard I hope you're recovering well Flowers

Waving to everyone

lovebeingananny · 02/12/2015 19:28

Hi all, out by 6.20! Although I did arrive early. Longest part as I predicted was getting the cannula in. My veins went into hiding, so after one attempt and lots of poking around, he decided to put it in the vein on the inside of my wrist OUCH! I was very glad when it was over and removed. Although by the time I had walked back to the changing room my wrist was swelling?! I checked with the nurse who said it was just the bruising! So that's going to look good tomorrow.

But it's over with, thank goodness and I hope and pray it's the last scan I will need for a long time! Thanks for all the kind thoughts, now if you would all like to wait for the results with me, that would be great Wink in a virtual sense of course!!

Hope you all had a good day xxxx

Marshy · 02/12/2015 19:39

Glad it's all over nanny and hope you are relaxing a bit tonight xx

mrsrhodgilbert · 02/12/2015 19:42

We'll definitely be waiting for the results with you nanny and let's hope they come quickly. You deserve a very long time away from hospitals, hope your nurse is helpful tomorrow and you have a very good sleep tonight.

Marshy · 02/12/2015 19:52

Sending all a virtual hug tonight...

royalmama · 03/12/2015 04:39

Nanny..here is wishing your results ome back good and we can celebrate virtually :)

fresta · 03/12/2015 13:33

Nanny, good luck with your nurse today!

I seem to be having delayed side effects from the Tax. Wondering if it's hormone related as haven't had my period- puffy eyes, swollen ankles, slightly nauseous. Sore swollen boob too from the clip. And next cycle due tomorrow so started on the steriods in prep which give me indigestion Anyway, trying to focus on Christmas as a distraction and shopping for lots of lovely things for dd. She is so excited now the advent Calendar has come out! Xmas Smile

lovebeingananny · 03/12/2015 13:52

Hi all, have appointment with oncologist for results in 2wks Sad joys of having a doc who only works one day a week Sad feeling a bit fed up with all this.

lovebeingananny · 03/12/2015 13:54

fresta sorry to hear you are feeling a bit rough Thanks xx

mrsrhodgilbert · 04/12/2015 08:28

Two weeks is quite a wait. Is there any chance your nurse will call you if results come through earlier? Maybe some are more happy to do this than others. Not the best lead up to Christmas though, I really feel bad for you.

lovebeingananny · 04/12/2015 09:40

Hi Mrs, my BCN is away next week, so the first she'll hear about it is Monday 2 days before my scheduled appointment. I am secretly hoping that IF it's all clear she will call me. I did ask if she was allowed to call if it was clear, but like she said the problem then is, if she doesn't call I will be panicking and expecting the worse. So in theory having a set appointment is less stressful. Just wish it was next week, not the week after. But having said that, at least by waiting I will have the FULL results, as discussed by the whole team, rather than just his opinion which is then changed when it's discussed....if that makes sense.

After talking to BCN I did discover that I was 'lucky' to get away with just a CT scan. As there was talk of doing a bone biopsy!!!! But my oncologist said I had been through enough, and he thinks it's worth looking in more detail, before we go down that route! Which on the one hand I am grateful for, but on the other, I'm starting to feel that they were more concerned than they were letting on?! But maybe I am just reading too much into it!

Anyway work is busy, and my days off are fully booked up with Christmas things...so I haven't really got time to worry. Other than late at night! So it could be worse! I'm sure the 16th will be here before I know it!

Hope everyone is doing okay, wishing you all a very nice weekend. Xxxx

fresta · 04/12/2015 10:38

Oh Nanny, you really do seem to have a hard time with your team, your nurse seems to have a lot of holidays! Let's hope all the Christmas activities make the two weeks fly by!
Just having my chemo now, I have a good book, iced water and the other ladies are quite chatty which helps pass the time. On my own today as DH is working away!
Have a lovely weekend everyone, I'll be making the most of it an getting some Christmas prep done before the side effects kick in and wipe me out for the next week!

Lilymaid · 04/12/2015 11:02

Nanny Two weeks of Scanxiety is not fun! I asked my Oncologist about a bone biopsy recently as I was concerned that my cancer may have changed from hormone receptive (none of the hormonal tablets I have been prescribed seem to have done any thing other than make me ache). He said he would only do this if my current treatment (Epirubicin) didn't work as it wasn't very pleasant! Hope your scan results show as OK and that nothing like that

Marshy · 04/12/2015 19:11

Thinking of you nanny. Waiting for results is truly a special kind of agony.

I have my annual check up on 21st December. I'm hoping for a pat on the head and no doubt on the the plastic boobs and to be sent on my way....

lovebeingananny · 04/12/2015 21:43

Marshy let's hope we both get some good news/the all clear before Christmas Wink xx

lovebeingananny · 04/12/2015 21:48

fresta hope the Chemo went okay! That's another one ticked off Wink

Lily fingers crossed your current treatment does its job xx

Mysillydog · 05/12/2015 07:55

Good luck everyone with all your treatment and waits. It's my last day at work today. I didn't sleep well and I have a late one tonight with the Christmas party.

I'm feeling a bit scared and emotional today. I saw my BCN yesterday. Some of my pre op blood came back a bit wobbly. She also showed me breast prostheses and they are so heavy. I don't think I will like wearing those.

lovebeingananny · 05/12/2015 12:30

Hi mysillydog I only had a lumpectomy so haven't needed a prosthesis, but I have a couple of friends who I met during treatment. Like you they found them very heavy. Both ladies now use, and I know how weird this will sound, but a knitted knocker Grin have a look on line. They find it lightweight, soft and more comfortable.

Fingers crossed your bloods sort themselves out and you get through the surgery soon. Sending you a ((((((((gentle hug)))))) Thanks xx

royalmama · 06/12/2015 03:10

mysillydog sending you good vibes nd hoping all goes well with your surgery.
fresta chemo sucks but counting the doses as they pass is the best thing:)
marshy hope you get good news from your annual check.
nanny keep busy busy busy ! It will pass and hopefully there will be no cause for further anxiety.
To everyone else enjoy the weekend.

gingeroots · 06/12/2015 08:47

Leslie noticed on another thread that you were suffering at the moment and going through a bit of a bad patch .You're always so kind and supportive of everyone else and don't mention your own problems .

Anyway ,I'm thinking of you ,hoping it eases soon and that a Christmas tree may be helping to distract you . You've been through so much ,for such a long time ,you so deserve a break .

Flowers Flowers Flowers

love and strength to everyone feeling ill ,worried and enduring the special hell that is waiting for test results .
