Don't panic. I went to gp the other week because I've been getting pins and needles in my left arm (from the elbow down forearm and into fingers) for about 2 weeks now. He thinks I might have trapped a nerve (possibly not known about it at the time) and the nerve is still recovering. I have to go back in a couple of weeks if it is still the same - which it is at the moment. Very annoying and disconcerting, but DO NOT PANIC.

suzywong · 14/04/2004 13:23

don't want to worry you but are you sure you're not PG
I had exactlt the same before I knew I was PG with DS2.

Codswallop · 14/04/2004 13:24

Not a twat. I had the same feeling when having bad panic attacks and anxiety. I got asked if I had it. will you come on line later and let me know what they say , I am going to worry now. I cant have my coddy get ill.

Codswallop · 14/04/2004 13:26

Absolutely certain you're not going to spawn?

Freckle · 14/04/2004 13:27

Are the pins and needles constant or do they come and go? Mine are intermittent and I get a feeling of pressure around the armpit at the same time. GP spent a fair bit of time examining all around armpit but didn't find anything. I had to admit that I'd spent most of the preceding 2 days with my right hand up my left armpit convinced I'd find a lump. Reflexes in left arm a bit sluggish too, which might be down to a damaged nerve - or not....

melsy · 14/04/2004 13:27

Thats what I thought. Something up anywere elase in life?? I am trying not to get all spiritual on you!!!!

Codswallop · 14/04/2004 13:27

constant up to wrist

Could be carpal tunnel syndrome. It's not exclusively linked to pregnancy

lou33 · 14/04/2004 13:38

Carpel Tunnel Syndrome?

fairyfly · 14/04/2004 13:38

Peripheral (sp) nerve damage maybe, my mum has had it for years. She has pins and needles in her hands and feet, but is fine apart from that. If you want anymore info, i will ask her. Good Luck.

M2T · 14/04/2004 13:40

It's too much Mumsnetting!!

Seriously though, I hope it's nothing.

Thomcat · 14/04/2004 13:42

Yeah the P*&N sounds very much like carpel tunnel.
Poor you

melsy · 14/04/2004 13:45

I asked my strange question to see if you have stuff going on that might affect you physically in the hand/ arm & was not trying to lower the tone or going all hippy dippy trippy on you!!!

I get it when I have RSI flare up!! YES too much mumsnetting. My hand goes all tingly and numb. Do you do any sports or something repetetive with that hadn ??

popsycal · 14/04/2004 13:46

very bizarre question here......but do you have a small child in a cot?

melsy · 14/04/2004 13:48

Dah brain Iam , just realised carpal tunnel is RSI. Deep heat, hot baths, anti inflammatorys. Or a strong whisky !! You may have a bug that is not related , and if this is a weak spot it just makes it flare up.

Easy · 14/04/2004 13:49

If today is the first time you've had the P&Ns it could just be that you slept in a funny position last night, perhaps from being blocked nasally?

Don't panic about one-off symptoms. My dh has something different every-other day, could be a walking medical textbook.

Hope you feel much better soon

M2T · 14/04/2004 13:50

Is it?? I mean is RSI actually Carpel Tunnel?? I thought you could get an operation to ease Carpel Tunnel.... never heard of any treatment for RSI though.

melsy · 14/04/2004 14:40

Its a related syndrome & yes is a little harder to treat. Someitmes osteopaths & physios ccan be good for it. I have had it on and off for many years.

popsycal · 14/04/2004 14:42

coddy - going back to my bizarre question
when ds was about 5 months old, i got this too and it took months to go away....i got it by trapping a nerve in my arm pit - from hanging over the cot

melsy · 14/04/2004 14:45

Pops ive found that it has come back , I thought it ws too much typing on my pc!! hadent thought about the lifting out of cot bit.
