I find this all so confusing. My iron level (I assume ferritin?) was 10.5 in Jan, just before my mmc was discovered and I had a erpc, docs weren't concerned. I'm now 6wks pg again and I asked the gp about it who ordered another test. Ferritin is now 2.9... I'm on 2 a day iron tablets to be retested in 2 months.

I was poorly, passing out etc 5-6 years ago with anaemia but can't remember my levels. I haven't been poorly like that recently though, but do often feel like I've got no energy (but that just seems normal for me) but 2.9 sounds pretty low, is it? Is that the only result that matters?

My sister was diagnosed with coeliac a couple of years ago, and although I have no digestive symptoms or pain like she did, I am beginning to worry there could be something underlying. I'm a bit annoyed because I think that an erpc when I shouldn't been 14+1 (baby stopped growing around 8 wks) can't have helped the situation yet no one mentioned iron levels to me.

Sorry for the epic post, and sorry so many have such a struggle to get information and to get it under control. All my adulthood I've felt 'weak' and like I struggle with tiredness but it's not debilitating so I assumed that it was just 'me' - and I'm getting cross now, at 30, that this hasn't been taken seriously and I could have felt so much better! I think I need to make a gp appt just to discuss this having armed myself with as much info beforehand.

I meant, 'when I should've been 14+1'....

Do it pintoftea!

I'm kind of where you're at attitude-wise & am going to see my GP for a proper chat in a few weeks time.

Thanks handsup

Does anyone know if they test for coeliac disease as a routine thing when they do the endoscopy / colonoscopy? Or does it have to be specifically requested?

You need to press for them to look into the root cause of this.

they have my periods ..its not as low as before ferritin 14 HB 28 suggesting i take iron pills 5 days around my period to maintain it , and I'm taking spatone 2 sachets a day see if that helps ...

back in 2 months to re check ...

i did ask when i was there if she thought was anything els other than periods and she said no and its very common in women to be low iron with fairly heavy periods and looking at my past levels I'm always on the low side ...so she then suggested i take the iron to replace my loss around that time and re check to see how its all going ...so i guess she is doing all she can .. :-/
maybe I'm one who just is low ... Hmm in july was 9 and 24 so its slightly better ..
