Fantastic news zippys :)

Well the Difflan has had an amazing effect and I'm eating solids again. Huzzah!

Great news zippy, I'm very happy for you.

I've just been for my injection of radioactivity pre surgery tomorrow. It was absolutely fine, bit of a sting for a few seconds but nothing worse. Looks like I'm near the top of the operating list for the morning so hope to be home in about 24 hours from now.

Nurse at pre med said maybe no driving for up to a month for lumpectomy and clearance of 3 nodes, but then admitted that she actually didn't have a clue. Neither did any of the others! So we shall see. I've been told the pain afterwards is manageable with paracetamol/ibuprofen. Does that sound about right?

Yay zippy :)

Mrs glad it went ok, best of luck for tomorrow we'll be thinking of you. When I had my lumpectomy I didn't go down till 3pm and still just managed to get home that evening. See how you feel about driving but I would think a month is the very most time you will need. I had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy then node clearance later but after both I only took paracetamol it didn't hurt nearly as much as I'd thought. It did take a couple of days to get over the GA, as I'd never had one before I didn't realise that.

mrs thinking of you tomorrow.

I have my blood test tomorrow to determine whether my neutrophils are high enough to have chemo on Thursday. Very nervous as I really don't want to delay. But then I know from some of you and others on other sites that this is not unusual.

really am very happy to her that you are getting back to normal after treatment but I am a little confused as I thought you had liver mets ?

Fab news zippy.

Glad you can eat again normal.

How did the scan go zombie?

Good luck tomorrow mrs.

Had pre assessment today and the lump has shrunk from 18mm to 12mm so going in the right direction. Bloods are good to go. Feeling quite well and have just eaten too many chocolate fingers. Oh well- doubt I will be eating very much after thurs!

IamtheZombie · 20/05/2014 20:45

It was fine, thanks, Speedy. Results and treatment planning on Thursday afternoon. Zombie's best friend arrives from Dublin that morning so will be able to go with her.

Serena Seroma has made her 4th appearance and will be drained Friday at 11.00am. Zombie will be able to update the surgical team then. There will be a MaccyD breakfast on the way to hospital. Grin

Yey for lump shrinkage Speedy.

Now my mouth is healing and I need to put on weight, I may treat myself to a MaccyD tomorrow too Zombie.

Thanks for that MAS does the fact they found remains of a tumour in my liver, mean that I can't get back to some sort of normality?! I chose to wait and watch! In other words do nothing!! So maybe in some people's eyes that means I can't move on, or that I have failed at beating this! But to wait and see, was one of my options and after 9 months of this crap, I think I'm allowed to have a break!

Report
weebarra · 20/05/2014 20:50

Good luck tomorrow Mrs.
Glad your day went ok Zombie - think you have to get Ms Seroma told that she is not welcome!
I've done too much again today - my mum and DSis are here to help, but I find it so hard not to do anything, so I did the school run with DH doing the pram bit, washing, cooking. I am sore, so I know I need to do less.

Mrs, good luck for tomorrow, and Newnormal, I hope your blood test allows you to go ahead for Thursday (I've got mine as well).

Really good luck for your results on Thursday, Zombie. I'm glad you've got a friend to keep you company.

Great news on the shrinking lump, Speedy! Well worth some cheerful chocolate finger eating.

Thanks for all the good wishes for the chelsea flower show. I got there. Got a bit stressed by the crowds, and by the realisation of how different this year was from others for me (and hoping but not confident of future years), but some lovely things to see.

Really - I bet you look great with short hair! I'm back at work now and constantly being told how 'great' my hair looks - so frequently now that I'm starting it believe it! Go on, post a piccie of yours and I'll show your mine!

really I am absolutely sure that would not be what MAS meant, as she is one of the loveliest people I have ever had the pleasure to know, and she herself is living with a secondary diagnosis. I'm sure she would not have meant to cause any offence. Certainly no one would think you have failed, it is a disease not a competition :) in fact, what drew most of us to this thread is the fact that it's a place free from all the pink sparkly bollocks about fighting cancer and being brave and whatnot. Of course you should have a break, especially as your treatment seems to have been much more of an ordeal that usual, and waiting to see what happens is a perfectly reasonable option, I know other people with secondary diagnoses who are in a similar position.

zippy that's brilliant news, glad you're able to leave the thread, not that we don't live having you :)

Normal yay for Difflam!

weebarra sorry you're sore. Try and look at it as resting now so you can do things sooner. If you overdo it too much you might set your recovery back and then be incapacitated for longer :)

Zombie glad your friend will be there for your results appointment, and I hope the seroma will be gone for good this time!

speedy great news about the shrinkage!

mrs good luck for tomorrow! I hope you are in and out quickly Flowers also hope that tonight's talk went well.

I hope everyone is having a good evening!

wee, Serena just won't take the hint. Zombie may need to get a voodoo doll of herself and stab Serena at the first hint of coming back. And, YES, you DO need to take it easy. Do what Zombie says, not what Zombie does. Wink

Thanks, Wren. Zombie's knows that if it's not so great news it will be bestie who takes it the hardest. Anyway, whatever the news is we shall consume champagne - one bottle only on Thursday night as we have to be back at hospital on Friday morning. Friday night? Who knows?? Grin

mrs, you will be in Zombie's thoughts and prayers tomorrow. xx

really, sorry, but MAS asked you a very reasonable question. Your reply was a bit OTT.

Gah! To being told how great you look with short hair! It grates after a while ..... I have started to get hair envy, especially as its falling out again.

mrs I was diagnosed in August and only told my youngest son last week .... It's amazing what you can cover up

Grin at voodoo doll Zombie, just be very careful of exact seroma site, we don't want to hear you're in hospital with a punctured lung or something!! Hmm

Report
RahRahRasputin · 20/05/2014 21:39

You'd look fabulous with almost any style foofoo but I'm sure it is so annoying when you haven't chosen the short hair. I wonder if actually a lot of people would look good with short hair but it's such a daring thing to do whereas with chemo there's no choice. I know I'd look terrible, my hair is very fine and limp so I'd look like my grandad Hmm

Gives MAS a wave as I haven't seen her around lately! Are you still swimming? Onc told me not to whilst on Capecitabine. He is being very strict with me as I had told him I wanted to go on holiday to Borneo and that I was having extensive dental work, neither of which he was keen about!
