Zippyswife please don't Google, it will make up miserable. Most posters just pop in to this thread and then disappear after they get the all clear. Let's hope you are one of them.

I have had a lovely day with my beautiful children today. Minibeast hunting, lighting tiny fires and rocking the roller disco. I treasure every minute with them.

Why just wanted to say Hi to the other ladies living with advanced cancer.

I mean "I" not why - stupid auto correct.

Marking place. First docetaxel on Monday and need to remember to take steroid pills tomorrow!! Non of this helped by DP and I going through a rocky patch so feeling particularly vulnerable at the moment. Sad

Morning all
Wee I'm so pleased that you made it and that they won ! Congratulations Smile

Feline have you taken your steroids ? I tried to take mind first thing and lunchtime so they didn't keep me awake too much. Sorry about DP problems hope you can work it out

Trice glad you had a good day

I had a lovely day in London with dd yesterday, went to see mamma Mia I may have shed a few tears at slipping through my fingers

Trice. Glad you had a lovely day.

Feline. Sorry you are feeling like that. Do you have anyone else to lean on at the moment? Hope you remember to take your steroids and it goes ok.

Did anyone else's periods not stop? That was the one side effect I welcomed and it hasn't happened! Very annoying but would explain why I have been feeling low- a nice dose of PMT to add in.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Considerably well done! That's fabulous news Grin the production sounds great, I hope your chemo schedule fits in nicely.

Waving to all, have a lovely day.

Thanks everyone. Have just taken first steroid. And yes speedy really looking forward to no more periods and mine haven't topped despite three FEC cycles. The last one was really heavy too and went on for over a week Sad.

Think I actually need someone professional to talk to. My mind is just so messed up at the moment

Hugs feline, were all here to listen if it will help. Going through this is not easy to say the least so take any support you can get. Is it worth a trip to your gp to see what they say ? I know some people have started anti depressants during treatment just to help a little. Just be aware that the steroids can affect your mood too, I found that when I stopped taking them I had a bit of a come done and had a weepy couple of days, might not happen to you but it's worth looking out for in case.

Wren48 · 18/05/2014 14:48

I've just been prescribed anti depressants by the GP. Not taken them yet. I found it reassuring for her to tell me that the massive hormonal shifts wrought by the chemo are responsible for low mood for a lot of people - aside from the whole fear/ grief thing that this jolly old illness engenders.

Feline, a counsellor can be really helpful too.. (I have one as well- taking all the help I can get). And, at the risk of sounding completely flaky, the best thing so far for my mood has been a healing done for me by an old friend... Buoyed me up for days.

feline I have just had first FEC last week and taken 4 days of steroids and I hate' em. They wind me tighter than a coiled spring and make everything and everyone annoying. I did warn the DC, but they are getting anxious now in case it's their fault. I need to just take myself off and be on my own. Hope this week brings some peace of mind, even if mood drops.

wren thanks for posting that, I had rather suspected that there would be a big emotional fall out to come later. So many of your posts have been upbeat, practical, can-do; there is so much more to it all, isn't there?

Hi All, Just wanted to drop in and offer an extra hand to hold to those who need it.

After reading the latest posts it amazes me how we all manage to have pretty much the same kind of emotions going on and it's reassuring to know it's normal and we are not alone Smile

Chemo fog is getting the better of me today and hope I am making some kind of sense Grin

DH has a rotten cold and now I have a sore throat too! Any advice on what I can take would be greatly received Thanks

Wren48 · 18/05/2014 19:45

Sorry to hear about your cold, mummywheel. I especially sympathise as I've got one too (feel a bit aggrieved about it actually - caught off ds1 who doesn't do tissues). Hot honey and lemon helps me plus, boringly, paracetamol. I'd love to know if there's a cleverer remedy out there...

Mummywheel, how about trying a salt water gargle. I had a sore throat a few weeks ago and it worked for me. Just add a teaspoon of salt to boiling hot water in a mug. Let it cool a bit so you don't burn your mouth. Do it 3 times a day.
By the way, my period has not stopped either, although to be fair it has not been too bad.
Hope everybody enjoyed their Sunday as much as possible.

Hope everyone has had a lovely sunny Sunday.

I've spent most of the day getting things ready for after Tuesday, ironing enough school shirts for the boys, cooking some meals, cleaning (MIL is coming for a couple of nights) and wrapping DS1's birthday presents.

It's all a bit surreal to be honest, I've known since October that I would need a bmx but can't really believe that in 48 hours I won't have any boobs.

Still, i keep thinking, if I can do 6 months of chemo, I can do anything!!

Speedypenguin · 18/05/2014 21:54

Thanks for comments about periods, glad I am not the only one!

Wine- hope the op goes well. Will be thinking of you.

Mummy- I tried the salt water gargle after it was suggested here and it helped my sore throat, although mine was down to the chemo.

I have just got my new Lands End tugless swimming costume. They have just started doing a mastectomy version with pockets. Very reasonably priced at £30 ish and very comfortable, made of good thick material, lined and a nice pocketed softcup bra.

Not the most glamorous swimwear I have ever owned but better than most of the granny suits normally offered to us uni boobs.

I bought dd a costume in dark blue with silver seahorses on and a little skirt. She has been frolicking in the garden in it today in the paddling pool and lookedabsolutely adorable!

Good luck with your op Wine. I think I was most surprised by how quickly I recovered. I hope you find the same.

Truce bet dd looks lovely in her swimming costume and you too of course !

Wee still can't believe you've got your planning appointment so soon ! You'll probably have a ct scan and they'll measure you up and give you your tattoos, just little black dots I can hardly see mine among my freckles ! Might all take a while though as they'll probably go through skin care advice and give you your dates and times

Another beautiful day here :)

Well and truly caught DH cold - last thing I need just after chemo. Thanks for the advice ladies. I suddenly went into panic mode as I wasn't sure what I could take while having FEC. I know I should ring the unit for advice but often feel better informed here.

Good luck to all who have appointments and treatments this week. My concentration isn't great at the moment Grin

Good Luck wine, I am another one who is recently post BMX. Like Foo said, good riddance! Just think, you can choose whatever size you want next time around. If you do get indigestion following the op (from the painkillers), don't wait and see if rennie works - ask for something stronger.

Mummywheel, I've just spent 4 hours at the hospital following reporting raised temperature from my cold. Sensible thing to do etc etc etc but oh how boring. Bloods ok, chest clear. Just a virus. Back home now thank goodness. Hoping (unrealistically?) to get to the chelsea flower show tomorrow and to a talk my DH is giving tomorrow night.
