Poor you wine, that doesn't sound like fun. Can they give you anything to help?

reallyreallyworried · 29/04/2014 13:50

I like your thinking foofoo but actually it was 2.5hours out of my day! Then no time for a treat as it was then time to pick my youngest charge up from nursery! Nice thought though!

malt apparently my skin isn't 'bad' enough yet for them to offer anything to help?! Work that out. Seeing Oncologist tomorrow I will see what they say.

foofooyeah · 29/04/2014 14:25

Penguin. As I understand it you have the T bit if there is node involvement.

kitkat1967 · 29/04/2014 15:58

Penguin- I don't know how FEC and T work differently but I didn't 'need' the T part (the plan was 6 x FEC) but as my lump didn't respond to the FEC and it made me very sick/nauseous we switched to T for the final cycles. So there is some flexibility - one of the advantages of having chemo first is that they can monitor the response.

Updatingmywill · 29/04/2014 18:15

Hi Penguin, I asked the onc about FEC vs Tax. He said that they act differently; if there was something that hadn't been mopped up by the FEC, then tax would get it. I'm having both but with no node involvement (and was feeling a bit aggrieved by the idea!).

SE with tax have been worse than FEC for me. The foul tasting mouth / swollen tongue is getting better thankfully but 5 days of that was 5 days too many! Also stomach cramps for 2 days followed by diarrhea for 2 days. And I'm only a week in!!

malteserzz · 29/04/2014 18:34

Really has your skin broken yet ? Mine all peeled off, lovely ! It did heal with a couple of weeks though

I found fec easier than tax too, I was told they used to just use fec but now feel it's better combined with tax. As with all treatments though everyone seems to think differently !

reallyreallyworried · 29/04/2014 19:25

Hi malt I have a few small spots under my breast where the skin has broken and a patch about 2inches long and an inch wide that has peeled off! Then I have a really sore patch on my collar bone! I'm still using aqueous cream on the unbroken skin areas. But leaving under the breast uncreamed so the air can get to it!! Well it can't but you know what I mean!

I got the feeling that the hospital don't do anything until things look really bad! BUT I always thought prevention was better than cure! Although maybe the fact I still have a fair few Zappings to go means they want to save the 'good stuff' till the end? Who knows!!

Good luck with your meeting tomorrow! I think it was tomorrow. Hope all goes well. Xx

IamtheZombie · 29/04/2014 19:30

Evening all.

BiggerBuns, I'm only 12 days post-op but have already regained virtually full range of motion. I'm one of the lucky ones. After my first mastectomy I had full range of motion back in about 5 days but that was only an SNB. It's not that I'm diligent with exercises either. I just use the arm as normally as possible. My philosophy is that if it's just pulling but not hurting it's OK.

The steri-strips are now history! There are a couple of scabs at the armpit end of the wound that aren't ready to fall off yet so I still have a small dressing protecting them. I can shower though and put a fresh dressing on myself afterwards. The District Nurse will be back on Friday to check the wound again and hopes to discharge me then.

My post-op appointment with my surgeon is on 9th May. All my results should be back by now and the MDT meet on the 6th so she should be able to tell me exactly what's in store next.

Zombie hugs to all.

weebarra · 29/04/2014 19:47

So glad you are recovering well zombie - an inspiration!
Well, I am officially off sick from work now, that's my mat leave finished. Feels a bit weird.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 29/04/2014 20:21

really how many treatments have you had? My skin still looks good, but I'm only on day 12. Incl boosts, I have 21 more to go...

Speedypenguin · 29/04/2014 20:26

Thanks for all info on FEC and T. It's just all so confusing! Kitkat, that's what they are doing with me; seeing how lump responds.

Glad you are doing well zombie.

Updating- hope the SE wear off soon for you. Sounds horrid!

Early night needed here. Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep.

reallyreallyworried · 29/04/2014 20:47

mom today was number 23!!

malteserzz · 29/04/2014 20:56

Glad you're recovering well zombie, hope the time passes quickly till you get your results

Yes it's tomorrow really, I'm quite stressed about it to be honest. I have to take evidence of what my class have been doing this year to be assessed, it's really difficult when I've missed most of the year ! Also I find it hard to talk about being ill so if I have to explain why I don't know the children well I'm worried I will cry ! Hopefully I can stay at the back and stay quiet, thanks for thinking of me x

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 29/04/2014 21:21

reallyreallyworried · 29/04/2014 21:26

malt think positively, you'll be fine! It's understandable that you are doubting yourself. But after what you've been through over the last ten months, a meeting at work will be a breeze Wink Worse case scenario and you did cry?! I think they will understand! Trust in yourself Malt, you can do it!! Xx

malteserzz · 29/04/2014 21:56

You are right of course, thank you !! Getting my knickers in a twist about nothing, I can do it and if not I have a bloody good excuse ! It'll be fine x

reallyreallyworried · 29/04/2014 22:02

Grin that's what we like to hear! POSITIVE thinking! Now all I have to do is talk myself into thinking positively about my Rads!! Hmm

Lilymaid · 29/04/2014 22:28

Malt we can hand hold. My temporary assistant leaves tomorrow and I will be "back to normal". Even though I have worked part time all the way through treatment it seems a daunting prospect to have no back up.

reallyreallyworried · 30/04/2014 06:58

Morning all

foofoo good luck with the PICC line appt today! Hope it goes well. Remember to drink lots before you go and keep your arm warm Wink

Lily Good Luck with your first day back at independent work! I'm sure you will be fine! But definitely a BIG step in getting 'back to normal'!

malt will be thiking of you.

Right I must start work, need to get my charges to school and nursery before I head for my morning at the hospital!

Good luck to anyone else who has treatment/appts today xx

honeybeeridiculous · 30/04/2014 08:30

Good luck today maltes hope it all goes well and that you look back and wondered what you were so worried about Thanks

malteserzz · 30/04/2014 16:09

You were all right and it was fine, home nice and early too. Thanks for the hand holding, hope everyone's had a good day Smile

foofooyeah · 30/04/2014 16:15

Afternoon, picc line all done .... Now trying to find some nice covers. .... Few on etsy. Anyone had some luck else will commission a friend to Mae some.

Lovely Spanish guy fitted it so I could practise my appalling Spanish. It was very funny.

malteserzz · 30/04/2014 18:46

Glad it went well foo foo :)

honeybeeridiculous · 30/04/2014 18:53

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good day with treatments etc
DF had his last rads 2 weeks ago today, at which time his neck was red raw, itchy, oozing pus and generally pretty awful,
Fast forward to today and the skin is amazing, just pale red now, no angry pus or soreness. I just wanted to give those suffering with radiation burns hope that things do get better in quite a short space of time

Mind you, he's still knackered and can't eat much, and has a husky voice, but we live in hope Grin

reallyreallyworried · 30/04/2014 19:02

Sounds like everyone had a positive day........ So I am just going to say

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
