Smoking while Pregnant... (!!)

Hi Guys. Normally a lurker, wondering if anybody is out there....?
My friend (honest!)is 28 weeks pregnant with her 3rd. She's really worried about her small bump. Measured at 26 weeks with the MW. She also feels really small in comparison with the previous two. She smokes heavily, is not without common sence and is REALLY worried about her unborn baby.
Now, do I NEED to point out the obvious? is it necessary? Any other somkers out there? I just don't know if I should 'put the boot in' when I'm sure she knows the answer.......?

Blimey MarmaladeSun. It's funny you should say that as I know I am right too. I just wasn't prepared to be so dismissive of your opinions.

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:02

Iklboo...mine was never an opinion...this is what I do, day in and day out. If I didn't have absolute belief in what I do I wouldn't be as successful as I am. I SEE the results every day.

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:04

LOL, high horse? Jealousy ladies....

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:04

And dismissive of my 'opinions' is exactly what most of you were.

Iklboo · 27/07/2006 12:06

"but have to add my professional opinion"

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:07

It's a turn of phrase.

southeastastra · 27/07/2006 12:07

i'm not dismissive at all!

Tutter · 27/07/2006 12:07

jealousy? snigger. no, you're right MS, all MNers in fact left school at 14 and have never been eductaed or had fulfilling careers.

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:08

southeastastra...I know you're not. But unfortunately those people who feel threatened by an alternative have spoilt it for the rest.

southeastastra · 27/07/2006 12:08

maybe another day!

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:08

Tutter...you'd think so.

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:11

Ok Ok..I have to confess that most of these posts have been typed with a grin on my face. I am not usually so confrontational and I apologise to anyone I have insulted. But I DO stand by what I say and do...some people accept it, others don't...but I can live with that. Offers hand of friendship

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:11

But I don't talk bullshit.

Squarer · 27/07/2006 12:14

But so does Allen Carr Marmalade. And he acknowledges addiction.
Of course you have absolute belief in what you do - it obviously works, but that does not necessarily mean that nicotine is not addictive because the method you use tells people that nicotine is not addictive and works. It is a psychological tool. It works. Great!! So does telling people that it is addictive using a different method. It does not mean that people are sheep for not accepting your belief that nicotine is not addictive.

Iklboo · 27/07/2006 12:14

Semantics...

"Professional opinion" used to think that bleeding the humours would cure cancer. Professional opinions are still opinions and subject to review, change, challenge etc. Professional opinions are not necessarily completely 'right'.
That's what is good about opinion - it can (and often should) be challenged for the sake of progression and evolution of theory, practice etc.
I am more than prepared to listen to what you have to say, discuss and digest the arguments pro and con. I think your 'professional opinion' is very interesting. But you cannot claim for absolute fact that you are right. Nor can anyone of us.

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:15

No...you're right. But I took exception at being told I talk bullshit. Probably got off on the wrong foot.

Iklboo · 27/07/2006 12:15

That took so long to type it came after your "hand of friendship"!

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:16

Iklboo...challenged, yes. Insulted...not acceptable.

Squarer · 27/07/2006 12:16

Hmm, I was not trying to say that Allen Carr talks bullshit there! That was in response to a few posts ago

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:16

Iklboo...no problem

Northerner · 27/07/2006 12:16

Marmaladesun - you entered this discussion by making a sweeping statement that nicotine is NOT addictive, and you expect not to be challenged?

Many years of scientific research proves that nicotine is addictive. You weren't jumped on from a great height, only a few posters where challenging your opinion. I suggest that MN is not a place for you to be if you can't deal with this.

And as for us being jealous and you pitying us....

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Iklboo · 27/07/2006 12:17

Isn't he the guy off The Friday Night Project?

(I know he's not but am trying to lighten the mood. It's nearly weekend!)

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:17

Read back....I said challenged, yes. Insulted, no.

MarmaladeSun · 27/07/2006 12:21

And yes...I am well aware what years of scientific research states...however I have years of practical proof that what I say is right....so I prefer to go by what I see than what I read.
