Couldn't agree more about tutoring topsy but would seem that's a minority view.

Brew As out for MRI this morning. Back later

jchocchip · 22/03/2013 06:43

Horizontal snow. Hmmmm.

jchocchip · 22/03/2013 06:44

Morning gig
+ve vibes for MRI

PenPerson · 22/03/2013 06:55

Good morning.

Sending good vibes to gig for today.

I was shocked that some parents told me bare faced lies about tutoring. One Mum gave me the whole 'we would be happy with the local high school grammar is not everything' spiel at length then the tutor let slip to another mum she had been tutoring the son and his younger sister for 2 years. I cannot believe it !
A grammar school tutor free boy in this household ! ( smug ? Me?)
The girls grammar here is much harder to get into however, so I may get my dd assessed by a tutor to see if she has a chance or we need to be looking elsewhere as she nears that age.
This morning I woke up early and took my tablets. Just lying in bed waiting for the miracle of feeling better. Think I may be here awhile.

Tonight I am having fish and chips. Excited much. Marmite sandwich today the works. A veritable iodine feast. I may even push the boat out and have an egg for breakfast.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2013 07:43

loads of luck gig and waves to new girls. Hooray for iodine foods pen !

topsyturner · 22/03/2013 08:15

Morning All

Good luck for today Gigs , will you get any results today ?

Woohoo for iodine food Jane
I would go for boiled egg with marmite soldiers ...

Snow day here . Both kids off .
DH off work on a Friday anyway .
DD worried about her party tomorrow ...

topsyturner · 22/03/2013 08:16

Ofcourse the food message was meant to be for Pen
Snow has obviously addled my brain !

Gigondas · 22/03/2013 09:00

Foods sound nice -hope you feel better pen .

Snow day will get in way of crochet and candy crush won't it topsy?Wink

Waiting for MRI now- always makes me Sad as had to leave mini gig for hours to have my first one when she was only a day old. Will probably get disc and report but will mean nothing to me so will have to find out on Monday what score is.

I am less concerned about this than lump .

smee · 22/03/2013 09:11

Got all crossed for gig and MRI. Hope you get results today too, even if in pain still at least then you can relax. Smile

Isn't Sparkle starting her chemo today? Will be thinking of you, Sparkle. Let us know how it goes. x

Happy Birthday yesterday to little Jane and little Topsy. Where's the cake though?? Surely you saved us some. Grin

Couldn't agree more on this new madness called tutoring. Though easy for us to say as round here they're all comprehensives, apart from the one grammar which I didn't even know about. I doubt we'll put DS in for the test for that though might go and have a look around to see what all the fuss is about Grin

smee · 22/03/2013 09:12

Pen, did you have your egg?? My fave comfort food is semi-hard boiled egg on toast with butter and marmite. mmm.. Smile

PenPerson · 22/03/2013 11:09

yes egg on toast followed by marmite crisps !

smee · 22/03/2013 11:16

Ooh yum! I gave DH a big bag of those for Christmas, then ate most of them myself Grin

Gigondas · 22/03/2013 11:48

MRI done - got disc but not report as that goes to onc who is off next week. Hope dr on Monday can interpret the disc . Have shopped for stinky cheese and nice bread to have with Winelater.

Copthallresident · 22/03/2013 11:50

Adding my good vibes for gigs and sparkle Where do you go gigs are you amongst the burkhas, just behind Oxford street or near South Ken, always provides me with amusing diversion from the sheer terror......

Copthallresident · 22/03/2013 11:52

X posted, glad it's done gigs

PenPerson · 22/03/2013 11:57

glad it is over gigs and just the wait for results. we will help distract you !

It is just like that round here too copt !!

smee · 22/03/2013 12:14

Yay, Gig. Glad you're through. Sinky cheese and nice bread is a worth treat. Smile

I had no idea people got so wound up about schools. Round here it's genuinely comprehensive, as the Yr6 kids take a CAT test at the start of the year, then are banded A-D. Each school/ academy has to take 25% from each band, so no point in tutoring or need. Makes the schools a fairer/ nicer mix too.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2013 12:29

am v glad that we had none of that here- no grammar schools. T has done pretty well in his school I think- nice mix of children from this town's schools and ones from outside villages. Next step will be more mixing up with students from here and quite a bit beyond.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2013 12:30

hooray for nice cheese and getting through the MRI gig - hope you can get results v soon.
Am sleeepy- have drawn a rough and am going to hgave a bagel and peanut butter for lunch (giving marmite a rest today) T loves marmite rice cakes but won't touch marmite on bread...strange boy.

graciesmall09 · 22/03/2013 13:58

Yay for MRI done and dusted gigs - hope your results come through quickly.

What a flipping miserable day. DD finished school for Easter at lunchtime and I was absolutely soaked. Not nice fluffy snow here just slushy mess.

Just a quick pop on as really need to do some online food shopping. Trying not to worry too much but have a very definite pea like lump which I can only feel when lying on my side. I have booked an appointment with surgeon for Tuesday night, mortified as I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac but this doesn't feel like the recently biopsied 'fat' necrosis. It feels like my original lump Sad

Anyway keep warm everyone.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2013 14:00

fingers crossed it isn't anything nasty gracie xxx

Hi all, sorry to have been awol, - I won't attempt to answer all posts, - I'd never manage, - so just jumping back in.

I see there are two new ladies - welcome to the thread Smile - I have read your posts but can't add anything to the great answers you have received (and given each other Smile)but it's lovely to 'meet' you both.

Gig - and sitting on the PB for you, gracie - also ,hugs. - hope everything is OK, I'm sure it will be, but always anxious waiting to get things checked. xx

Pen - are you still incarcerated? - fish and chips sounds good (even to a veggie like me Grin)

Belated happy birthday to junior topsy and junior jane, - hope they both had a lovely day.

Hope NI girls are not too badly hit by the weather (news is saying widespread loss of power - hope you are not affected).

Waves at Copt - lovely to see you back Smile

love to all, - I will catch up and read all your posts properly.

Feeling very sad - heard today that a friend of mine has died very suddenly, she was lovely, -she goes to the keep fit class I go to and I've known her since I started four years ago. She had a haemorrage, caused by a hiatus hernia, it would have been mercifully quick I think, but all the more shocking because of the unexpectedness and she hadn't been ill. Gosh she was such a sweetheart, she'll be very missed Sad

Gigondas · 22/03/2013 16:37

Oh kurri I am sorry- that is sad.

Gracie- come and huddle with me as that sounds very similar. And could well be infection lump or my mum had scarring and stitches that got stuck in her neck that caused lump. Still a worry- I See surgeon on Thursday next week.

Got rest of medical results back from routine medical and all good except Inconclusive smear. I am afraid I was bad and googled (am not worried as no sign and had issues years ago which were dealt with) but it only just occurred to me that chemo and radio to groin prob mucks up test results.

Yes it's just north of Oxford st copthall so you do get lots of Arab speakers. I like the ones who chain smoke outside the Macmillan centre Grin.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2013 17:16

oh kk I am sorry- how very sad and shocking.

OP posts:
smee · 22/03/2013 17:55

Sad kurri. That's awful. Did she have children and a DH? How shocking.

Gracie, your lump could be all sorts of things which aren't recurrence. Glad you've got an appt quickly too. You don't want that gnawing away at you. Buy yourself treats from on-line shop. Distraction sounds essential. x

Inconclusive smear sounds like not a lot, Gig. What do you have to do about it? Re-do?

So v.cold..! Am going out for a drink with a lovely friend in a bit. Kind of wish I wasn't now, but still am sure wine will keep the cold at bay. Wishing everyone a happy weekend. Keep warm. Smile
