God am so fed up. Day 10 of some filthy flu type virus and am still ill. The DCs and DH are over it but I am now sufferibg from a secondary throat and sinus infection. I hane lost about half a stone as just can't face food. Also occasionally vomiting, usually after a coughing fit.

Am now on ABs and hoping infection clears soon but still got a splitting headache, temperature etc.

Anyone else had this? I thought I would be over it by now. Have got tons to do, boss not happy as am still off work.

This really is the virus from hell.

Day 7 here. High temp, horrendously sore throat, blocked nose, chesty cough, aching everywhere, nausea and occasional diarrhoea.

I don't usually get ill and am feeling decidedly sorry for myself!

nellyjelly · 17/12/2012 13:40

Sorry you are ill too but glad I am not alone. Sat MNing in bed. And drinking flat lemonade.

I am on day 7 here too. DH at work today and my 3 dc's have finished school. Just about managing to keep them fed and watered. My bug has moved from achiness, nausea, fever and chills to sore throat/chest/cough and is now in lockdown on my sinuses and head. I really worry about how much nurofen I have taken over last week. This morning I pulled a muscle in my back coughing.

I have got SO much to do - sob. I don't usually get ill either, certainly nothing more than a vague sore throat or a bit of hayfever. This is hellish.

Husband has had over 2 weeks off work to look after our two shorties now. First time I had stayed in bed. Awful scary chest infection followed by sharp sinus infection fever with hallucinations lost half a stone now got sense of taste back and can breathe but has been followed by ulcers all over inside mouth and the most painful swollen ear canal infection and deafness in left ear that in my 33 years I have ever known. I am actually taking painkillers which is pretty much unheard of for me. Dh been told he has to go in to work tomorrow. No idea how I
Going to get through the day. Just praying that the pressure and pain and exhaustion go over night. Been trying olive oil in ear, garlic ginger lemon and chicken foup to eat. Omega 3 and zinc and elderberry cordial as supplements. Red raw throbbing ear. How on earth will I get through days to Saturday and manage to get the two children to bed when I'm so poorly. Any ideas welcome that might help?

Dr said it was viral so no abs no family nearby and children are a spirited active 3 and 1 it's going to be full on I think. To top that as I am been unwell for well over two weeks now the house is "mr maytreearch" clean and tidy equivalent to tip. Onwards and upwards I hope overnight. Hope we all recover overnight!

Reenypip · 18/12/2012 00:28

My little boy has had it for 5 weeks now :-(

nellyjelly · 18/12/2012 08:36

5 weeks! Poor little thing.

Interesting about the foods though and will definately try the honey and lemon drink.

Feeling marginally better today. Head still throbbing. Really need to eat something. Have zero sense of taste which doesn't help.

Hope we are all feeling a bit better today.

DD and DS at nursery and school tomorrow so plan to sleep all day. Still throwing up occasionally so any food i eat does no good. Felt OK earlier but now completely wrecked again. Doc has signed me off for a week. That makes 2 weeks off but what can I do?

Pity poor LOs who have it.

DD 15 has been off school 2 weeks with this blasted thing,Its the sinus thing that seems to be lingering longest with her-pulsing/throbbing behind the nose and under the eyes etc. I feel awful at the amount of time she is off school as its exam year especially but what can you do?She is simply not well enough to go back. She had the dreadful cough, achy legs, headache also.

Birthhippy9 · 19/12/2012 00:39

This year it seems so much worse for everyone or is it just me thinking it is? My friend posted today that 128 out of 400 pupils at a school were off sick today alone. Has the financial crisis meant that we are not eating as much immune boosting foods or are the damn viruses evolving quicker than we can keep up with or both? Or is the rest of the uk ok?

Day 10 here, dd and my dad were over it days ago but I'm still plowing through, mum and my brother are just starting with it

It. Is. Hell!

I can't sleep, can't eat, can't breath, can't bend over, can barely walk in a straight line and can barely afford to keep myself in tissues the way I'm going through them!
A little bit glad that others have it too and I'm not being a drama queen but hope you're all better soon Thanks Brew

Having a bath is great but then the water cools down and you start feeling shivery again.

I am in bed, just woken up. Am feeling sweaty and hot. Head hurting. Still noy better then. :(

DD1 had sinus head ache for over two weeks, DD2 missed a week off school.

DD2 even went to the dr, because of ear ache. This is unheard of, she is never ill for more than a day. Hasn't been to the dr in 11 years (she was 6 months old)

So yes, too many horrid bugs about.
Hope you feel better soon.

Badvocsanta · 19/12/2012 12:54

I had a bad head cold at the start of dec.
Then it morphed into a kind of sinusitis type thing so I took loads of sudafed and now I am coughing up gunk and feel quite sick.
Feel very very tired but that's because I am up at nights with ds2 and have been since sat night.
Off to nap for both of us in a min I think!l

Badvocsanta · 19/12/2012 12:55

...oh, and ds2 woke after midnight last night wet through with sweat but no temp!?
Very odd.
He has grazed on food again today BUT no calpol or ibuprofen given yet today!
Can't remember the last day he hasn't needed them...

We've had coughs, sore throats, night sweats, aching, glands up, feeling sick, shivery and tired. I've been like it most of November and now most of December on and off, but mainly on. 9yo only one who has so far escaped. I think I feel better, catch up on jobs then suffer for it the next day.

ratflavouredjelly · 19/12/2012 16:51

Bleeeugh. I had gastric flu 14 days ago, stupidly went to work on day 3 (new job felt pressurised). Immune system not recovered. DD 4 got the virus then it turned into bacterial ear infection so on penicillin (temp spikes 40).
Now DS 5 is poorly with virus, bad chest, washed out spiking temps at night which wont stay down with Calpol/Ibroprofen.

Now I've caught what he's got. Been to docs who says its another virus: respiratory one. Have been laid in sleeping bag on sofa all day. Headache, temperature, sore throat, pulled muscles in chest, chesty cough, ... Am sick of being poorly. My DH is current unemoyed so our usual food shopping has been cut back. We're not eating as well which probs isn't helping.
