God am so fed up. Day 10 of some filthy flu type virus and am still ill. The DCs and DH are over it but I am now sufferibg from a secondary throat and sinus infection. I hane lost about half a stone as just can't face food. Also occasionally vomiting, usually after a coughing fit.

Am now on ABs and hoping infection clears soon but still got a splitting headache, temperature etc.

Anyone else had this? I thought I would be over it by now. Have got tons to do, boss not happy as am still off work.

This really is the virus from hell.

Xmas Sad Xmas Sad me too...Xmas Sad
wish it had been norivirus - it would have been over - day 6 and no sign of improvement.
nellyjelly are you better?

TheInvisiblePoster · 22/12/2012 20:41

I have this rotten virus:( I'm on day 4, the DC are on day 7 and although their temps are now back to normal they are barely eating, they hurt all over and DD 4 has diarrhea and awful stomach cramps with it.

DH started with it yesterday so christmas isn't going to be much fun:(

I had bronchitis a fortnight ago and the GP said that if the cough was still there after I'd finished my AB's I was to go back, the cough never completely left so I went back on Thursday and saw a different GP as mine wasn't available, apparently the bronchitis had gone but I had caught this virus, However yesterday and today when I take a deep breath before coughing I'm wheezing badly.

I'm exhausted, just making a cuppa this morning had me feeling weak and I had to sit down with my head down because I felt faint.

I want it gone, Hope everyone here manages to feel better for ChristmasThanks

Badvocsanta · 23/12/2012 08:33

Hmmm...what's the verdict in coughing up gunk that's orangey/brown?
Ugh....

uggmum · 23/12/2012 08:36

I too have an awful virus. I thought I would feel better yesterday but ended up going back to bed. I have had a better nights sleep though. I bought some mucos cough medicine and it's really helped

nellyjelly · 23/12/2012 09:01

Still recovering slowly. Still feeling sick and having night sweats.

Hope you all start feeling better soon. We are driving down to see relatives for xmas today. I plan to sleep all the way in the car.

I have bronchitis!! Had a dreadful night - in agony, every time I coughed, so got to the emergency doc and yes, it is bronchitis :( never had this before, does it last long??

Tinkerisdead · 23/12/2012 14:39

Sorry to all those that are worse Sad

I'm far far better. Got a cough but its like a normal cough now rather than a wheezing painful disgusting one. I slept all night and have so much energy i've blitzed the whole house.

The whole thing lasted a month for me! So glad to feel normal.

Bakingnovice · 24/12/2012 12:03

I'm on day 7. The sweats shakes and fever have gone but I now have crippling headache and vomiting. I am dying. House is a tip. Nothing prepped for tmrw. Can't eat. Keep vomiting. No tablets help. Blocked nose. My poor kids. Dh poorly too. I keep crying. The headache is crippling me and I feel bad at how shit everything is turning out. Pls help!

Tinkerisdead · 24/12/2012 12:42

Oh baking - poor you.

I was like that on thursday but i think i made myself worse because i was panicking saying "i cant be like this its christmas". I think your just going to have to work whats important and just do those bits.

The kids will want chocolate all day and a present from santa. The rest is just decoration. If you eat pizza and have xmas dinner on new years it really wont matter it wont. Just try to get through the key parts and do it all when you feel better.

TheInvisiblePoster · 24/12/2012 13:10

Baking so sorry that you all have this too:( I really hop you start to feel better soon.

What is this virus? Where has it come from? I can't remember ever feeling this ill!

Me and the DC are feeling much better today, still snuggled under duvets watching films but starting to get our appetites back a little.

DH still very poorly with temp and headache and he has to go to work over Christmas so that's really rubbish:(

We won't be having Christmas dinner tomorrow, it's not worth doing it. We're still to ill to want to eat that amount of food and DH is working from 10am till 6pm so I think we'll save it for when we're all well and he's off work.

snoopdogg · 24/12/2012 13:37

I'm the same, gave in and went to the doc today after 10 days of vileness, chest adn sinus infection. My kids have been with their dad since Friday and I spent the entire run up to Christmas dreading the separation but I now feel so rough I'm dreading getting them back tomorrow and worried they will have a crap christmas with poorly mum....

Must pull self together and take thedoctors advice, it's only one day

Love to everyone else suffering x

TheInvisiblePoster · 24/12/2012 22:28

Well after not feeling to bad all day, I now feel as sick as a dog:(
Still got pressies to wrap as I've been putting off doing it in the hope I would feel better by now.

I've wrapped a few and i'm now sitting feeling sorry for myself. had a bit of a cry, this is so crap:(

nellyjelly · 26/12/2012 21:41

So sorry some of you still ill. I am now over it- i think. (Touchwood)

On xmas day for the first time felt ok, even had a cuppa without throwing up, ate a reasonable xmas dinner. The most food I have had for weeks. I did need a 2 hr nap after it though. Still night sweats but think it is my body expelling the last of the virus.

Had it 3 weeks. The most ill I have ever been. Good luck if you still have it. Hunker down and don't try and soldier on. Doesn't work.

Thanks to all for listening to me on this, really helped. Happy Xmas.

It's a beaut this one isn't it? We are like a plague house too, DS and i have been ill for most of December, and it keeps morphing into new nasties. Hubbby and I both have bad pulled muscles in chest and abdo from coughing, and that was one of the early symptoms (still with us). I also have bizarre very high temps (up to 39degrees C) that seem to happen between 12 noon and 4pm every day! What's that all about! And other symptoms. Did not bother with xmas dinner, nobody had an appetite. DS puked. Bloody sick of it.

TheInvisiblePoster · 27/12/2012 16:56

I'm feeling much better today. DH is still really bad though his temp keeps going up too Cairncake and he just can't get rid of the headache and queasy feeling:(

He was meant to be working yesterday and today but has had to call in sick.

I weighed myself today after my mum said I looked like I'd lost a lot of weight, she wasn't wrong! I normally weigh between 9 stone and 9 stone 4, today I weigh 8 stone 2Shock

LadyMaryChristmas · 27/12/2012 16:58

Day 6 for me, 5 for Ds. Coughing, sore throat, loads of snot. We've been ill all over Christmas Xmas Sad

abitcoldupnorth · 27/12/2012 17:29

Day 9 for me, and dressed for the first time. Haven't felt so dreadful since I had flu 4 years ago. Poor little dd2 now looks like she's got it.

Spent Xmas day under the duvet trying not to cry while DH took dcs to my parents for the day Sad Still, I couldn't stand up so I wouldn't have been much good.

Was craving chicken broth and veggies for about 3 days - finally strong enough make it today!

Ds is back at school on the 8th, I'm back at work on the 10th. We want to go to the cinema and have gifts that I've paid for which need collecting. We do feel a bit better today; coughing less and no sore throat. I sound like a frog though.

QueenOfCats · 28/12/2012 13:30

Think I may have this virus. Started with sore throat, niggly cough, stuffy nose, then aches and pains, stiff neck, headache, now tired, terrible hacking cough, back ache, chest ache, so tired, bunged up etc.

In bed coughing a lung up at the moment Hmm

frazzled123 · 28/12/2012 16:16

I just can't get rid of it. Been like it from end of November. Start to feel better, then get achey again and feel tired. Feel like its never going to go. Had weird taste in mouth coming and going and got dark circles under eyes.

Clairemum123 · 27/09/2013 17:16

Hi there

I've just joined here as I'm at the end of my tether, had this virus for nearly 4 weeks, started with cough then chest infection, my daughter has had it for a week, really poorly, no fever, aches and pains, chest pain, light headed, fatigue, blocked nose, headache, sneezing, we still have an appetite, no medication seems to help apart from inhaling menthol crystals and lots of rest and fluids, but as soon as you feel better it comes back. I've been on antibiotics and steroids which did help the chest infection a bit, but not the other symptoms. It really helps to know that other people have the same thing, has anybody got over it? How long did it take etc

musicalfamily · 28/09/2013 18:56

Hi Clairemum,

I am exactly the same as you, had antibiotics for a chest infection and sinus infection, some days I feel better than worse, blocked nose and cough and feeling generally rubbish, I am so fed up with it!!!

Hope you get better soon!!

musicalfamily · 28/09/2013 18:56

PS I have had it all month too...
