here we go...

OP posts:
thegreylady · 03/06/2012 10:31

Totally off topic but I am feeling a bit shaky ATM. I seem to have got myself involved in a silly row in the "baby names" section of all places! I have never experienced anything like it either in rl or online. It has included some really nasty pms. I hadn't realised how vulnerable it would make me feel so I have come here while I decide whether or not MN is the place for me. I do know I am over reacting but it has been horrible. The public part is on a thread called "does anyone know -heard of".
Sorry to bang on about trivia when so many are going through so much but I feel "safe" here.

Sometimesiwonder · 03/06/2012 10:35

I'll have a look - but sometimes these rows do seem to blow up Sad

Ignore the pms - if you don't respond the culprits should grow up and go away....But don't let them scare you off. Sod 'em. xx

Sometimesiwonder · 03/06/2012 10:42

Dear me! Shock

Have only read the first page but I can see that someone's feathers seem badly ruffled, and I can't for the life of me see how that is your fault, greylady. Resist the temptation to go back to the thread and don't even read any further pms. It really, REALLY isn't worth getting upset about. Let 'em rant into the ether. It's very puzzling... xx

topsyturner · 03/06/2012 10:54

Grey haven't read the thread , but it always amazes me how some so called grown women revert to playground bullying when hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet !
Ignore the twunts , move on , keep posting here where we love you !

Amber I read the report on Facebook that you linked to . And as someone directly affected by a single secondary I find myself greatly encouraged by it .
Thank you for linking to it , as always Amber comes up trumps with the research Smile

Glad to hear your mums meds are changed for the better Mas . Sounds very encouraging !

Going for a shower now and try to do something with my hair , it presently resembles a cross between 1970s Rod Stewart and Spock Grin

topsyturner · 03/06/2012 11:01

Just read the thread Grey .
Can I just say Hmm !
CDA is very obviously in a fight picking mood . And from what some other posters have said , she makes a habit of this style of posting .
There's always someone isn't there ?
I'm just sorry you got caught up in her nastiness .

snoopygirl · 03/06/2012 11:15

greylady I just read that and people are so bitchey and awful. She needs to grow up and get a life. When I was on the recurrent misscarriage board everyone was so lovely like on here. I spose we have bigger issues to think about than getting into scraps online. I have also ventured (lurked) on other thread sometimes and have been gobsmacked at the bitchiness.
Dont leave MN - their are so many lovely people on here so willing to lend a shoulder and some advice support. Before all this inc M/c I never went to chat online and have been amazed at the truly dedicated women who spend their time helping others.
forget about it and enjoy the rest of your day
x

thegreylady · 03/06/2012 11:35

Thanks all for the perspective I just rang and invited DD and family for tea as their park picnic has been called off so that is something nice to look forward to.

AutumnSummers · 03/06/2012 12:12

I hope that you and your family have agreat time today grey

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 03/06/2012 12:15

will go and look greylady - but a hug for you and stay on a civilised thread like this xxx
amber excellent posting on fb
sometimes don't work yourself into the ground - I'm probably not doing much this week as dh is off -and I seem to have a little gap while people find reference and info for me.
Ds has opened his presents and I was really happy that he said 'oh you've made a special card for me' which I had- I always think my family must be bored silly seeing my work all the time.

AutumnSummers · 03/06/2012 12:15

Ned I am chomping at the bit for the next episode. How the FUCK did he pull that off???!!!!

My blog is moved. Wordpress is pants. Blogger, for the Win!!

HRHQueenMaryAnnSingleton · 03/06/2012 12:31

graciesmall09 · 03/06/2012 12:50

Just nipping in really quickly as been overdoing it a bit over the last few days and totally zonked. Did I mention I love my syringe driver, best things since sliced bread but the steroid is making me a bit spaced and I could eat a scabby donkey.

Huge waves to everyone. amber would you mind linking me to your stats as I would love to read it - you always come up trumps in stats department.

topsy sorry your wound is being a pain hopefully it will start to mend soon.

mas great news about the parkinsons meds.

Well I have had such a busy weekend. Had inlaws all day yesterday for barbeque and catch up and we got up early this morning to watch the Olympic torch at Stormont. Bit disappointed with the turn-out which I thought was a bit poor but we met up with a couple of friends and had a lovely time. Kids got photos taken with torch bearers and holding the torch so all happy and then we skipped off church and went out for a slap up breakfast. Just waiting for the nurse to come to disconnect the driver and then I have mum up for lunch.

Hope to catch up later. Oh and greylady I haven't seen the post as I don't really venture anywhere but this board, but just ignore it all and put it down to ignorance on their part.

Sorry mammoth post again.

Sometimesiwonder · 03/06/2012 13:08

Well said, MAS! Grin

Glad ds liked his presents and his card. Of course your family aren't bored of your work Angry Wink The preview of the card you have just done for my dd is wonderful!

Baskets45 · 03/06/2012 16:51

Blimey, some folk don't have enough going on in their little lives, clearly. I wasn't going to read the names thread, as I feel quite good today (sorry about yesterday, everyone!!) but curiosity got the better of me. Like others say, someone just spoiling for a fight. I'm sure I don't know all there is to know about British or Scottish names. Why does a Turkish woman feel so adamant?? Strange, and sorry grey lady got caught up in it. Take care, GL, you will be still in recovery mode after pneumonia too. Hope you ahd lovely day with family.

Glad gracie likes her syringe driver!! It makes a difference not feeling/being so sick. I cannot find the exact route of olympic torch through Scotland. I must try harder ... It's funny how low-key royal stuff is here. I heard on radio apparently Scotland is 50 50 royalist-republican, yet in our small town on tourist route there are relatively few houses with bunting and so forth. Interested sociological musings from baskets. Hope those doing things - eg gig and family on Thames - having great time.

Topsy, I can quite 'see' you feeling upset after your op and developing such a serious infection. It will get better though. It's probably much better over last week. In another week it will likely be much better again. Onward and upward.

HRHMas, glad your mum's medication now working. My mum had PD too. It's hugely stressful watching someone who you've known as very active slowing up so much. Once they sorted her meds, my mum had some very good years despite PD and other ailments. Is the boy due to go to NY this week?

Autumn, the curry turned out to be risotto!! Twas quite tasty. I had hot choc for afters too. I began to watch a film, but stopped before end - theme of bullying in a girls' boarding school in Ireland. Who needs that when you can get bullies on MN?! I will watch it properly, just need to choose my moment. I had another 'exercise' session today, even ran a little. Though not very much. And had nice chat about bikes with a man, and later his wife too.

Probs getting boy motivated to revise for last exam. He spent yesterday looking for his glasses, then his memory stick. Thank goodness I'll not be looking after him when he's middle aged!!

BWs to all xxx

KurriKurri · 03/06/2012 16:55

Hello all - just back from my mornings stewarding at our Jubilee art exhibition, then I went to a friends house for coffee afterwards (and she has given me a lovely cucumber she grew Smile)

Thanks for all the AD info people were giving yesterday - it's very useful t know this kind of stuff.

I'm glad T enjoyed his birthday present and card MAS, and great to hear that your mum is having some success with her drugs at last Smile

hope the wound is improved a bit today topsy - more surgery would be a complete pain, so fingers crossed it doesn't come to that.

amber - v- interesting and encouraging info, thank you Smile

Greylady - please don't let an obnoxious person upset you, - I am sometimes astonished at the nastiness people come out with on this site - rather cowardly hiding behind their anonymity. You really wonder sometimes what makes someone write such horrible things - but it is very much a problem with them and not with you Smile - And if anyone sends you unpleasant PM's, I would report them, they are not supposed to do that.

Waving and sending love to all, welcome back Gig, hope you are feeling relaxed and full of croissants and stinky cheese.

Baskets45 · 03/06/2012 17:06

I meant to say, a few weeks ago there was an interview with a breast surgeon on Radio Scotland. Some of you might find it of interest. As i can't do linkies you can find it on RS website, prog called 'Stark Talk' and it's the one from early May with Prof Mike Dixon. He is one of the leading breast surgeons in Scotland, based in Edinburgh. Some of it was lot of talk about his life and his career, the point of the int after all, but there was a bit at the end about how woman can help themselves with exercise etc. Just tell me to shut up if you feel I'm being patronising. Or do a visualisation of Ned with her ex marine cum personal trainer .....

NedSchneebly · 03/06/2012 17:15

Afternoon all Smile

grey Blimey, what an unpleasant experience for you. I'd echo what others have said - obnoxious poster spoiling for a fight and not too bothered with whom! Stick with us - you are guaranteed love and respect over here x x

topsy how is the wound today? Hope you're having a restful one.

MAS glad T had a nice early birthday. Is he off to NY tomorrow? Great news about your mums medication - must be good to see her improving Smile

gracie take it easy, love. Or we will be round to duct tape you to the sofa. No, I am not kidding. . . Wink

autumn am with you on th Sherlock mystery! Apparently a squash ball is significant. Read an article/ interview with the writers that said all th information was in there somewhere to work out how he did it. Buggered if I can work it out. . .

baskets glad you're feeling better today. Don't ever apologise for having a bad day. We all have them, and that's what the rest of us are here for. Take it easy, lovely x x

kurri cucumber and marmite sarnies then?!

Waves to gig, smee sometimes, snoopy and anyone else I might have overlooked. Big hugs all round x x x

NedSchneebly · 03/06/2012 17:17

X post baskets I wouldn't try to visualise me doing anything. It might make you come over all peculiar. . . . Smile

jchocchip · 03/06/2012 18:08

Hugs to grey How can someone be so arogant and rude on a chatty thread like that!
Wonder how gig has got on on the rainy river! Had the tv on as wallpaper here and it looked rather wet.
No gardening today and we have shut the cat in as he kept going out and coming back in wet and muddy.

amberlight · 03/06/2012 19:48

Grey, so sad to hear of the horribleness. I think everyone deserves respect in this life, and have no time for bullying behaviour. Hugs from me.

topsyturner · 03/06/2012 20:48
