Why is there a shortage? :( I really don't like the boots own paracetamol and codeine, too chalky.

Why have the manufacturers stopped putting in the ingredient doxylamine succinate, thats what made it so helpful,
Cheers.

It's just co codemol with caffeine. You can get co codemol for about £1.25 and drink with a coffee.

I was fooled into buying the new pack. Waste of money.

It's not the same. The doxylamine is what worked for me, and Syndol no longer contains it. Will take your advice scouseadelic and get some from Amazon. Still don't understand why it's been changed though.

I'll try to keep this as brief as possible! Ive suffered from severe tension headaches & migraines nearly every day for most of my adult life. Several + years ago It got to the point where i use to take 2 Syndol tablets - the original version obviously, every night - they were the only tablets that could touch my headaches, absolute bliss. Anyway I told one GP that I was taking them every night & she barely battered an eyelash - then after eight months of daily excruciating headaches, even though I was taking the syndol, another GP wanted me off them saying they were causing the headaches.

Fast forward 8, 9 years & I'm on 2 preventative migraine tablets that I take everyday, I've recently had a 2nd bout of Botox for migraines & I'm still suffering!

Syndol was brilliant, but taking every day can cause rebound headaches as can many other OTC pain killers like paracetamol, ibuprofen. Unfortunately Codine & caffeine are worst culprits.

I've got one really bad migraine today, nothing is shifting it & I've had to take some codine - I'd love to be able to take syndol, however I suspect the missing ingredient in the new version played a huge part, the Doxylamine as a sedative/muscle relaxant probably is what gave the relief, may have a scour round for that!

Hi everyone. Was going to try 'new' syndol yesterday but it will be a complete waste of money as the doxy is missing. I'm going to get some Sleep Aid from eBay which is about £13 for 132 tablets and take the same dose as old Syndol with a generic paracetamol/codeine/caffine product and hope that does the trick for my tension headaches. There really isn't anything like good old Syndol for those rotten headaches.

Are there any pharmacists here? I have a terrible tension headache and have some Syndol upstairs which expired in Dec 2013! Would they be safe to take?

both my husband and i used to take syndol. it was really effective for pain and was so good for de stressing, i believe that the new syndol does not contain the ingredient that really worked for us so whats the alternative, boots did their own brand which was the nearest we could get to the original syndol but that too has been discontinued
