Hello caz thinking of you and lolly. Believe me the worst is nearly over. Once you walk into the hospital you go with the flow and just look forward instead of dreading. And you can say goodbye to all your discomfort and pain. Plan some treats, chill down some wine and make the most of the rest -it really does go quickly
xx

Hi folks, and thank you CAZ for your comments, I was beginning to think I was weird, when I realised the bowel and leg problems ran together. Yes I have an appointment with the Gynae surgeon on 12th January, which should coincide with the MRI the Orthopaedic surgeon has ordered (I've had years of them saying my hip joints must have been causing the problems with my legs, but this one has said something is probably pressing on the nerves, and he wants to check the surrounding tissue properly! - thank God), so the scan from my waist, to my thighs will hopefully reveal all! Does anyone know if Anusol will show in the scan?, if so, I'm hoping it will, and that should make it all clearer to them. After reading how it is, for those of you still raising children, I think I am lucky to be 55, and past the chasing-after-toddlers stage. If I manage to get a repair done, my husband is willing to look after me, the cats, and the dogs (when he's not at work), and has recently been demonstrating his washing-machine operator and Sunday-lunch-cooking skills! (for which I was very grateful last week). I can't wait for the 12th Jan, and wish everyone a better New Year, than the one they have just had!

Nannasylv · 09/12/2011 22:12

CAZ, I wish you luck, and look forward to hearing how you got on.

Lolly and Caz, good luck with your operations. I would recommend packing either nightie type dresses or a couple of sun dresses. This may seem odd but they are invaluable for if you have a catheter. Debenhams do a nice set of a dress type top and trousers. You can wear the top on it's own at push, and to be honest, nobody is really going to be looking that closely!!! The other thing I did was buy a new set of basic M and S knickers. Basically you are virtually sacrificing them but it is nice to have nice new stuff when you feel delicate afterwards. Good luck and keep us posted!
I now have a date for TVT removal of 14 th Feb, 9 weeks away which seems like a long time but will be a relief to go forwards.
Catchme..any news on a date?

Lolly55 · 13/12/2011 10:21

EMMDEE73 · 13/12/2011 19:16

Lolly- I found maternity pads really good as they are very absorbant and also give you a bit of support/comfort whilst you are recovering.

l4k · 16/12/2011 15:14

Any news ladies? Hope all has gone well for you both. XX
Just back from scan and seeing consultant
Good news is hematoma is reducing
Bad news Have large( over two inches) cyst on an ovary
And he thinks I need investigations for upper GI/ gallbladder
But at least the hematoma is getting smaller

Lolly55 · 16/12/2011 15:36

Hi Ladies I am home !!! All went really well and I had a SPINAL Grin It wasn't really my choice but with all my other medical problems was highly recommended by the Anesthetist...I can honestly say it was brilliant..
Went down to theatre at 8.45am and straight into the room, given the injection in my back which was very nearly painless, then got a very warm feeling in my legs and hey presto totally numb from the waist down...
Then my surgeon asked if it was ok for 3 medical students to watch, by then I really didn't care and told him he could hold the staff Christmas party if he wanted Wink..
I then had something injected into my drip to make me feel a little drowsy and I really can't remember much more until I was wheeled out into recovery at 10.45am..Back on the ward at 11.15am wide awake and having a cup of coffee, then had lunch at 12.30pm!!
Started to get the feeling back about 3pm and they wheeled me to the loo around 6pm as I needed a wee, didn't have a catheter..I have only had paraceatmol as a pain killer and have opened my bowels twice with no problems at all..I just hope it continues to be so much easier than I thought it might be..
Surgeon came round said I was a text book case all went really well and he will see me in 6 weeks..
Making the most of being spoilt and resting, best bit was my grand daughter who is 2 and a half, came to see me, gave me her favourite teddy 'cos I got a poorly tummy' and told me she will climb on my lap if daddy gets her the stool as she is a big girl now and doesn't want Nanny to lift her anymore..

Speak soon, take care xxxx

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining. Was just searching and came across your forum :) have been feeling all alone in my suffering. I had a tvt posterior and anterior repair done on the 12th, I wish I had glimpsed this thread before hand, would certainly been more prepared. Have to say I found the vag pack akin to a babys head crowning for 18 hours :S thank goodness there are drugs! Main focus now seems to be like all you ladies (bm) and the heavy achy feeling down under. Am now in the process of trying to take on board more water and some senakot..... Before I need to go again..... Wish me luck.....

CAZ1958 · 18/12/2011 07:42

Hiya Ladies....I am back. So good to be home !!!
Dear 14k.....I really feel for you, at least they are on top of things, how are you feeling in yourself ???
Darling Lolly...so fantastic to get your messages, huge hugs XXX
WELL...My experience not as fantastic as Lolly's but not too bad. Went down at 12, had a GA & Spinal, then back on the ward for 4.30pm. In the end I had a anterior & posterior repair + pelvic reconstruction....was a bit out of it on Thurs. Had horrendous itching after the op (piriton sorted that out) & I was in and out of it for the rest of the day. Got terrible shakes as well, any idea's ??? I forgot to ask. In quite a bit of pain, I just took everything they gave me & buzzed for more when it got too bad.
OMG...the packing, what can I say....that coming out was the strangest sensation ever !!! They called it there magic trick hahaha. After that my pain dropped dramatically. Was allowed home late fri after having a wee...no BM though. Been eating liquoirse/lots of water & taking my movical religiously. It happened fri night (one scary moment). Bruffy..get some "Movical" from the docs, it reallty makes a difference !!!
I am resting in bed now...just got paracetomal/ibruprophen plus injections for 5 days, last one tonight (yuk) pretty comfortable most of the time.
Words cannot express my thanks to All you Ladies for just being there. XXX
Speak soon XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Morning Ladies xx
14k so sorry your still having problems, at least the clot is getting smaller, but now more added problems for you..I really hope they get you all sorted soon, thinking of you x
Bruffy, welcome :) like Caz said Movicol has been recommended here to help with the bowel problems you can get it from your doctor, saves a lot on chemist prices!
Footie, yes was great seeing my grand daughter, she lives 2 minutes walk from me and I look after her a lot, both parents work shifts and not always at different times..Not sure when I can have her again on a regular basis but was just lovely to see her..It's great having grand kids you get to spoil them rotten and then hand them back Grin
Caz x So lovely to hear from you, glad your out the other side now and on the mend..
I'm doing really well, feel great, not in to much pain just uncomfortable, and making the most of my enforced rest, being waited on hand and foot, being totally spoilt and enjoying every minute..
Take care ladies
xxxxx

l4k · 18/12/2011 11:13

You've done it caz and lolly!! Well done. XX
Hi to buffy. Nice to have you join us on our road to recovery.

I'm feeling better day by day.

Bruffyj · 18/12/2011 11:52

Thanks for the welcome ladies :)

had a bm last night bit of a shaky moment, you can still see my outline on the bathroom ceiling! Not sure if I can get movical out here, I'm in
Perth I have not seen it. I have seen on another similar thread that milk of magnesia is used 2 t spoons with each meal, that might be the way I go, I can get that :) at the moment i am taking sennakot washed down with as much water as i can stomach, the down side peeing almost every hour but not full bladders. I have stopped taking the majority of pain meds, just making do with paracetamol will let you all know how I get on with this and the milk of magnesia. Been feeling a bit nauseous since yesterday, is this to be expected? Hope you all have a good Sunday.
