Getting long again.
Batters, I got your CAT, thanks so much. I tried to email you but it bounced back, so I'll try again later. (My answer is positive!)

I'm glad you're looking forward to it (goes without saying that the boys are ) I hope it's a good one for you all.

tamum · 17/11/2005 23:13

I'm really sorry about the Macmillan nurse, how disappointing (and how useless, frankly).

Absolutely great news about the book though, well done you

suzywong · 21/11/2005 22:44

bit reluctant to post and deflect attention, but since you mentioned it droille, my friend's little boy is not doing too well. The tumour in the brain has grown back after the op to remove it 3 weeks ago and he has a tube directly in to the chest for chemo and is in a wheelchair with impaired vision.

S&it isn't it

sorry the Macmillam nurse was not much help and I agree with the others that your Christmas plans sound good. Hope you are all going to indulge in every whim that takes your fancy

marthamoo · 21/11/2005 22:51

I'm really sorry to read that, suzy

Clarinet60 · 22/11/2005 22:17

That's awful Suzywong. Poor little boy, that's grown back quick.
You're not deflecting attention at all, I'd like to hear how he's doing.

I must say i am quite shocked, Droile at the lack of support. I honestly thought that Macmillan nurses were for counselling and general help and support. Really sorry. Does you GP / HV have a clue, do you think? Can the combined determined minds of Mn find something? Broadly what area of the country are you in?

Droile - that is very excellent news about your book! I have never had any idea what you do. I'd LOVE to read it! I'll CAT you....is that OK?

Clarinet60 · 24/11/2005 12:16

Yes, that's fine Blu, CAT me. I'm a biologist really, just trying to be an author on the side.
I live in the northwest.
I'n going to see a gp in our practice next week, as she wrote a nice letter asking us to see her if we needed to talk.

ScummyMummy · 25/11/2005 21:56

The Gp sounds nice, Droile.
Brilliant news about your book!

Marina · 28/11/2005 21:11

Hi Droile,
Hope the GP appointment goes OK. Have been thinking of you and wondering how you are all doing.
Got some info back from CLIC Sargent as they are now known, today, which seemed promising. I have mailed you the details. Let me know if you want me to follow up some of the points.
Great news about the book

MARINAtivityPlay · 09/12/2005 10:26

Hi Droile, have not seen you around lately so just bumping up to find out how you are (hoping that enjoyable, social things are happening and local friends are starting to realise that it is OK to visit you...ggrrr)
I sent you a package - (not El Grosso LOL, that is still being tweaked by St Bundle of North London), but containing stuff from CLIC Malcolm Sargent, I hope it reached you OK and that some of it was helpful.
I am going to start supporting this charity in the New Year - apart from all they did for ds' schoolfriend, I was so impressed with what they achieve and am so hopeful they will provide you with plentiful support and advice.
Lots of love XXX

Fabulous. I hope it goes well Batters
I think that makes our Christmas Play collection look a bit weedy but it all helps

FauveGoldRings · 09/12/2005 11:39

Hi Droile - we haven't 'spoken' directly on MN before, but I've caught up with your threads. Congratulations on the interest in your book - that's an amazing achievement! But sorry to hear you're not getting much professional support; I hope you do find something. I don't suppose HomeStart would be appropriate, would it, if you have one locally? I think their remit is kind of one-to-one befriending of people with young children, whatever they're struggling with. You might not feel it's right for you, but just a thought - I think there are other people on MN who know more about it - some are volunteers, I think.

Just to add to batters' post, my dd's school is also doing the Big Sing for CLIC this afternoon - in fact, I have to go along to join in, so we'll be thinking of you.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 09/12/2005 11:53

Thank God for Marina. I have trying to find this thread for a few days now but kept spelling Droile wrong and coming up with no results - I knew I hadn't got your name wrong.

Hope DS is doing OK - and you and DH and other DS of course.
How are things shaping up? Any further help from the Macmillan nurse?

PottyinaPearTree · 10/12/2005 17:02

Been thinking of you too Droile - hope that your ds's are both well and getting suitably excitied about Christmas.

Batters - I heard about the Big Sing on the radio yesterday, brilliant idea

MARINAtivityPlay · 13/12/2005 10:50

I have just heard from Droile. They have another hospital appointment tomorrow.
Please keep the whole family in your thoughts as you have been doing, it does help Droile. She has been offline for a while dealing with it all.
Dear Droile, wishing you all a good visit tomorrow and that the staff are on helpful, supportive, empathetic form. Lots of love XXX

motherpeculiar · 13/12/2005 11:01

thinking of you all Droile - hope tomorrow's visit goes ok. Do let us know how it goes if you feel up to it. Otherwise just remember we are all thinking of you and hoping things go well.
