You could try pouring a jug of warm water between your legs when you're on the toilet if it's really painfully to wee, you would have to run the bath and strip on entirely then.

Eurostar · 28/03/2011 18:57

x-posted with you saying you have been to the clinic. If you want to chat to some friendly herpsters, this is a good site, www.h-ype.co.uk. It looks like a dating site but it's a good support site too

I haven't heard of herpes blisters having a white head on them. Normally a red raised blister with a red surrounding area which would themselves would be painful to touch. Then burst and weep yellow fluid which forms a yellow crust then a typical looking scab. Did they take a viral swab?

Sounds like a bacterial infection to me.

I would go to your GP for a second opinion.

HooverTheHamaBeads · 28/03/2011 19:03

Def do the jug of water while peeing suggestion.

Even a drop of tea tree oil in the water is a good idea too to help fight infection.

TearfulAndAshamed · 28/03/2011 19:04

They wanted to do a blood test today but no way ive had as much pain as i can take.Ive cried with every wee for the last four days, had a constant headache,no sleep and the worst fever ever.My main concern was making sure i dont pass it on to my children via towels etc but the nurse today reassured me as i use my own towel anyway. She said unfortunately considering my shakes and high fever i have a bad outbreak although a more mild/moderate outbreak when it comes to the blisters.

TearfulAndAshamed · 28/03/2011 19:06

Hoover they arent painful well only one is which is ahem near my clit.Thats the only red angry looking one.I do have a yellowy discharge now though.

TearfulAndAshamed · 28/03/2011 19:08

They took a swab off of two of the blisters.Couldnt do an internal one as she said i would probably pass out due to all the swelling and inflammation.

what are you taking for pain relief? You can take paracetamol and nurofen together did you know? That might help you get some sleep tonight. Keep drinking water if you can.

You poor thing you sound like you are at rock bottom physically. Try to look after yourself as best you can. I too suffer from recurrent cold sores but find if I take a multivitamin with probiotic (the probiotic is important) and 1000g of vitamin C (the slow release Redoxon plus zinc one is good) I only get about one outbreak a year or less.

Have you been to your GP? Do you still have the sore throat?

HooverTheHamaBeads · 28/03/2011 19:12

The fluid inside a herpes blister looks like yellow water, if you dabbed it on loo roll you can see the yellow colour against the white.

Eurostar · 28/03/2011 19:12

H blisters, particularly in primary infection can have a white head, not unusual at all Hoover.

Sorry to hear you are suffering. Did they give you anti-virals to take?

HooverTheHamaBeads · 28/03/2011 19:14

Also a cold pack might bring some relief?

TearfulAndAshamed · 28/03/2011 19:21

I have been taking anadin extra for pain relief and an anit inflammatory which i was prescribed on wednesday for my period due to bad cramping from heavy blood loss.I didnt know could take nurofen and paracetamol together no.

I really am at rock bottom i cant stop crying as i feel so rubbish.Feel really bad that i cant look after dcs very well.I've had to let them on their computer games all weekend so as to get rest.

Still have sore throat,headache,cough and cold.The fluid/discharge is a yellowy/lightish green sticky,stringy looking stuff.Sorry for the detail.

Eurostar They gave me a five day two a day supply of anti virals and some cream to put on.Which i have to stay makes me jump about like a loon with how much it stings at first but after a while it helps.

WorzselMummage · 28/03/2011 19:27

I'm feeling your pain T&A ! Ooooooowwwwwwwww indeed!

Don't worry about the kids, they are probably loving it :)

Eurostar · 28/03/2011 19:31

The anti-virals should help quicken the end of the outbreak. It should pass soon.

Take care, don't worry about the DC on computer games, you'll be better in a few days.
Don't delay telling your DP. If it wasn't him who gave it to you (and if he's the only person you've slept with in the past few months, more than likely, though not 100% it is him) he could be at risk of a primary infection and if gets some antivirals and takes them at the first sign of symptoms it will help him avoid a nasty primary outbreak.

Winetimeisfinetime · 28/03/2011 19:31

A suggestion to possibly help with the pain on weeing - get a small plastic water bottle and cut the end off and when you have a wee use it like a funnel to keep the urine away from your sore areas. You may need to experiment with the right size of 'funnel' to get something that channels the urine away from where it hurts.

HooverTheHamaBeads · 28/03/2011 19:39

You can take the maximum paracetamol and the maximum nurofen at the same time but watch that you are not overdosing on each of them individually (if that makes sense) take each according to instructions.

I have just had five days of killer sore throat and took paracetamol, then nurofen four hours later on a four hour rolling schedule for five days. It took the edge of the worst pain and allowed me some sleep.

The fluid you describe - is it coming from the blisters or from your vagina?

SlightlyJaded · 28/03/2011 19:52

Bless you - that's miserable. Years ago I had a flat mate who used to get terrible herpes outbreaks a few times a year. The weeing was excruciating for her so on her absolutely worst days, she would stand in the bath and wee into the bath whilst simultaneously holding the shower attachement against her fanjo with luke warm water washing the acidic wee away. She said this was 'not a good look' but pain free.

If your DP dumps you, he is not only not worth having but quite possibly a hypocrite as the statistical chances are that you caught it from him.

TearfulAndAshamed · 28/03/2011 20:01

Hoover The fluid is coming from my vagina.Just now it was a little blood stained too.I guess i have blisters bursting inside??

SlightlyJaded I have just tried that with the shower attachment and it was a little better but i still cried.I really hope i dont get regular outbreaks i dont think i could cope. The way i feel now i want the hospital to admit me and give me a spinal block so i cant feel the pain.I would rather feel the huge needle go in my back than this(i had a spinal block with dc1).

Oh you poor thing, mucho sympathy and I hope you feel better soon :(

quazi · 28/03/2011 20:18

You have my sympathy - I had my first attack 13 Years ago and still feel bad about the fact I have this, even though I know I shouldn't! On the plus side, the first attack is always the worst and if you are lucky you may not have another episode. I sometimes get one sore if I am very run down, but never had anyhting like the first episode again. I find using distilled witch hazel soothing! Well done for going to the GUM and hope you feel better soon.

TearfulAndAshamed · 29/03/2011 08:21

Morning.I am now going for a pee standing in the bath using the shower.Still crying with every pee.Im hoping it may ease soon as i lost loads and loads of the yellow type fluid this morning so presume blisters inside and out have burst and presume the next stage will be them scabbing over which again i presume is when it wont hurt as much.

I haven't eaten all week.It really is strange how it feels just like flu.But thank you everyone for all the tips.

oh lovely that just sounds like the grimmest thing.

I hope all the drugs start working soon.

TheVisitor · 29/03/2011 08:37

Hmm, I think you need to go back to the doctor as it sounds like you have an infection somewhere. I wouldn't delay either. x

TearfulAndAshamed · 29/03/2011 11:14

Im just waiting for someone from the Gum to call me back to enquire about my symptoms.

I have been with Dp for 6 months so is it likely to be him.Im going to have to tell him over the phone tonight.
