Ingrown hair on pubic area.

Hi i have a ingrown hair just at the top of where my pubic hair starts. I have antibiotics but am in agony. I have just tried a hot compress and am about to have a salt bath. Is there anything else i can do? It's a mess, even the nurse winced when she saw it. It's like having a ping pong ball down there. Tia

I've only ever popped mine, but if it's that big/sore I can only sympathise with you.

choufleur · 20/08/2010 20:44

Can you squeeze it?

Shaz10 · 20/08/2010 20:46

See if you can squeeze it gently so a little bit of hair comes out. There will be a pore somewhere! Then gently pull with the tweezers. I once had one hair that came out in a tight spiral. I think it was about 30cm long in the end .

IMoveTheStars · 20/08/2010 20:54

Have you been given anti-inflammatory's? they'll help a lot.

ArseHolio · 20/08/2010 21:00

Sounds horrible you poor thing :(

If i were you i'd have a really hot bath and then see if you can find the end of it and pull it out, you might have to squeeze it a bit. If you can see where it is bit cant get to the hair you might need to pop it of pick the skin off the top of it with tweezers.

I had to pull out loads of strange hairs from my section scar.

Hope you feel better soon :)

slowlygoingbonkers · 20/08/2010 21:03

I have tried squeezing it with a hot flannel on top if that makes sense? A bit of pus came out. I had to get my dp to have a look as i am 28 weeks pregnant and cant see down there. Wasn't given anti inflammataries. Can i take them whilst pregnant? Was advised to take paracetamol. 30cm Shock

pop it with a needle but have some wine first. Size of a ping-pong ballis ouch !

LastOrdersAgain · 20/08/2010 21:05

I would definately take a sterile needle to it followed by tweezers.

I love squeezing and popping things. I'm very Envy!

LastOrdersAgain · 20/08/2010 21:06

xpost with equally weirdy corn

IMoveTheStars · 20/08/2010 21:07

Oh, sorry, didn't see you were pregnant. I don't think you can, no.

If it gets unbearable and doesn't ease/pop then ask the pharmacist if there is anything you can take.

Hot salt baths will def help though

cornsillkk · 20/08/2010 21:08

lol last orders. Grin

slowlygoingbonkers · 20/08/2010 21:12

It's ok, i hadn't mentioned i was pregnant in op. Think i will get dp to try and squeeze it out for me. He is like lastorders and corn, really enjoys stuff like that. Grin

Also have odd secret enjoyment of squeezing things. We should form a society. Or start our own thread which everyone normal would hide.

Not sure I'd love dealing with what you've got though, OP. Sympathies.

jujuthejetmum · 20/08/2010 21:14

may I recommend this...

IMoveTheStars · 20/08/2010 21:16

wow, juju does that actually work?

LittleSilver · 20/08/2010 21:17

Oooh, you poor thing OP, I had this when was about 19 (convinced myself had SAI). It did eventually go.

moragbellingham · 20/08/2010 21:19

Defo no anti-inflammatories so close to third trimester e.g.ibuprofen.Sad

susitwoshoes · 20/08/2010 21:19

juju - can you use that when you're bfing?

OP - i feel your pain, I get these loads. Sterile needle, tweezers, popping. Am kind of Envy, I have a love/hate relationship with mine, the popping is such bliss but would rather not get them in the first place!

LastOrdersAgain · 20/08/2010 21:22

There is a website for freaks like us. Videos of people popping things! Will have t find a link...

OverEasyEggs · 20/08/2010 21:22

ooooo i want one!! i love popping stuff, get dh to shove a needle in it then find the hair end. popping is great but uncurling the hair out is vom inducing especially when you keep pulling and pulling and pulling...

DirtyMartini · 20/08/2010 21:24

Hmm, not sure I want actual videos of other people's popping triumphs, but I am morbidly curious now.

slowlygoingbonkers · 20/08/2010 21:24

Grin at all the poppers on here. Well you would think it's his birthday, he cant wait to have a go as he puts it. Is there a way of preventing these or is it just one of those things that happens sometimes?

Shaz10 · 20/08/2010 21:26

I searched on youtube for ingrown hairs, but am too scared to watch the videos...

SecretNutellaFix · 20/08/2010 21:29

do you mean POPTHATZIT?

susitwoshoes · 20/08/2010 21:30

oh, I quite like the uncurling bit, when I see how long it it's I'm like blimey, would you look at that.
