So vocal and present during the campaign and haven’t seen her anywhere at all today 🤷‍♀️😳… just being nosey. 🤔

She is less educated than a shelf stacker, and that is in no way a disrespect to a shelf stacker. Only Labour would have someone like that on the front bench.

Someone who started her career in the care sector, who joined a union and built up skills, knowledge and experience, developed her career, became politically active, has represented her constituency consistently and risen through the ranks. And that’s without mentioning the levels of disadvantage she has contended with while doing all the above.

Yep, I think Labour would have someone like that on the front bench, but that’s not what you meant.

What facts were stated? It was the use of "less educated than a shelf stacker" as a insult that was deleted. Which is offensive both to Rayner and to any Mumsnet shelf stackers who might rightfully be a little offended to find themselves offered as an example of baseline ignorance. I'm guessing Mumsnet decided it was "not in the spirit"

The utter snobbery and absolute misogyny in many comments on this thread are disgusting- directed at a successful woman, our new Deputy Prime Minister, and made by other women.

It's the nastiest, most sneering thread I have come across on Mnet.

Really though? Ive seen so much worse

Can't stand her politics but does seem harsh people judge her so much for her personal life and past. Bit of an eye opener really 👀

But yeah I've seen a looooot worse on this site haha I ain't even going to go there

HebburnPokemon · 06/07/2024 17:02

"less educated than a shelf stacker"

Wow. You do realise there are many ways to succeed in life right? Not just by getting a degree.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 06/07/2024 17:38

I agree @LuluBlakey1 . Nasty, wrong and small minded.

Education for many people doesn't finish at the school gates.

Try reading a few books, it may improve your narrow mind.

I think she’s being judged because many view her as arrogant, opportunistic and a bit of a grifter. And the council house stuff did her no favours.

I’m no fan of John Major but he wasn’t as abrasive as she is.

Edited

Absolutely agree with this.

Why are so many alleging that we believe that Boris is the gold standard? He’s a fucking buffoon. I could go on and on about why he’s unfit for office. Both can be true…both Boris and Angela are unfit for office. Nothing to do with sexism or accent.

Edited

This.

Well, she’s not arrogant, opportunistic or a grifter. A grafter, definitely, but that’s positive. The ‘council house stuff’ was shit stirring nonsense and proved so.

BlueLimeRun · 06/07/2024 21:03

in your opinion @cardibach obviously others have a different view.

Well some of it.
Grifter - no. That’s fact.
Council house stuff - no, that’s fact. She did nothing wrong.

Of course she did stuff wrong. Funny how there’s always an outrage when the police refuse to investigate a Tory…

I’ve seen her ‘in action’ many times, she seems arrogant and a grifter to me. Plus, the stuff the neighbours have said about her doesn’t paint a great picture either.

Personally, I think she purposefully plays into a stereotype so that she can later dismiss any criticism as ‘anti-working’ class. This way she never actually has to defend the substance of what she says.

As I said before, if she had a PhD, dressed like Jacqueline Kennedy or if she was a man, I’d find her equally off putting.

Anyway, this is my opinion and I’m entitled to it, as you are to yours.

The police didn’t refuse to investigate her. They investigated as did HMRC. I don’t tend to listen to neighbours’ gossip. If I did I’d be even more sure Johnson was abusive after the call to the police about him in Carrie’s flat.
By ‘abrasive’ do you mean ‘assertive’? She’s certainly that. It’s great.
Grifting isn’t something someone can ‘seem’ to do. She doesn’t do it.
You’re entitled to your own opinion, obviously, but not your own facts.

No, I don’t mean assertive.

Assertiveness and arrogance aren’t the same thing.

I imagine you also don’t listen to anything anyone says about Tories or Reform candidates? Otherwise you’re being selective in your refusal to listen to ‘gossip’. Or is it gossip only when it’s something you don’t like?

BlueLimeRun · 06/07/2024 22:29

AR showed exactly who she was when she was so dismissive and obviously irritated when she was asked about protecting safe places.

Not ‘anyone’. I listen to some people. Just not random ‘neighbours’.

This.

Not much concern for working class women for someone who’s built their political career on claiming to be working class.

This is how I see it, anyway.

Edit: I wonder where she was when a working class woman was sacked by a large supermarket chain for honestly answering ‘yes’ when a TW customer asked if they looked like a man.

Kept her mouth shut then.
