General election 2024

Keir, what do you think?

Lovepeaceunderstanding · 06/06/2024 16:04

Labour will win this General Election but I don’t think Sir Keir will be party leader a year from now because there are many amongst Labour MP’s who will want to be more radical. Who would you like to see as leader of the Labour Party a year from now and why?

Yes we all do, as does Sir Keir who has been to Kiev several times. I’m pointing out that leaving the D Day commemorations early was disrespectful. I mean we all know he’s a liar but his behaviour today just about sums up Sunak’s morals.

Even the political editor of The Sun thinks Sunak leaving early was a mistake. 😂

Yes he should have stayed. Of course he should.

Alfreddoeblin · 06/06/2024 20:45

Yes. An honest discussion about the Tory record in government.
But they never want to engage. Just ‘reds under the beds, Corbyn, Angela Rayner is shudder common.’ The only things they’ve got. Watched two interviews on Sky today. Kay Burley was literally laughing at Mel Stride as he obfuscated his way through the interview, blatantly lying. Sophie Rudd did the same to Bim Afolami and Tom Swarbrick with Johnny Mercer. They’re a laughing stock.

Ah bless. Another champagne socialist. It’s embarrassing for you.

Honours rooted in the British Empire?
Sure no problemo.
But aren’t you a Socialist?
Well yes I am but but.. erm this is because erm .. because… 😂 pathetic.

@pointythings stated that Starmer received an honour on merit. That does not imply agreement with the honours system or titles in general. How embarrassing for you not to have even basic comprehension skills.

BIossomtoes · 06/06/2024 20:49

The Bim Afolami interview was classic. Now that really was rabbit in the headlights - the look on his face when she said £13k was priceless.

Darling. My family and some friends have various honours from the system. I don’t agree with it myself - it’s a bit like private school. Gives people a leg up. It really does imply agreement with the system. The fact left wing labour supporters condone it, is simply another example of the rampant hypocrisy within the party.

Gtfto2024 · 06/06/2024 20:53

This thread is hilarious. Seriously, there are one or two posters I thought have been on the glue, but fucking hell, whatever your on @DistinguishedSocialCommentator I want some. Oblivion to facts must be awesome.

Starmer is going to be in number 10 for a good few years.

Why is ‘rabbit in the headlights’ ok, but apparently ‘terrified owl’ is not?

Neither’s a great look on a politician, is it?

BananaLambo · 06/06/2024 20:56

After the shitshow we’ve all had to suffer for the last 8 years it finally feels like a grown up has entered the room and we can all get back to normal. I’m not a Tory - more centre leftish - but I didn’t mind the coalition or early Cameron, but FFS the rest of current lot are people I wouldn’t let babysit my cat never mind run the UK. People like Johnson, Braverman, Dorries, Mogg, Sunak and the rest of that unethical cabal shouldn’t be anywhere near public office. They only care about lining their own pockets and they treat the electorate with contempt. I’m looking forward to a period of watching the news and not saying ‘what the actual fuck do they think they’re doing?’ every 5 minutes. Hopefully all the dog whistling - Rwanda,National Service, etc. - will calm down and someone can get on with making life a bit better for the rest of us.

You are definitely a Labour disciple when your response is to say

but but the tories

rather than provide a constructive retort. 🤷‍♀️

Edited

There is no "constructive retort" to such a tenuous implication.

But I'll try. I think anyone who gets to the position of prime minister is by default extraordinary. And therefore its not too surprising if they have received recognition for that. Even Tory prime ministers - well the ones who won elections anyway.

My goodness you are tedious. As well as wrong.

I read that article. It made me like him more. But then I'm a socialist and proud to be one.

@srailfonaidraug I'm not sure that bringing fundamentalist religion into this is wise, it's quite murky enough already. But then I'm an atheist as well as a socialist.

Knowledge is recognising tomatoes as fruit.

Wisdom is not putting them in fruit salad.

ActivePeony · 06/06/2024 21:09

@ActivePeonytory voters say very much the same thing about Angel Rayner. Disgusting classist claptrap

Sorry I do not know what you are referring to here.

ActivePeony · 06/06/2024 21:11

On the contrary - I think it feels more and more like 1984 with every day that passes.

Alfreddoeblin · 06/06/2024 21:13

@ActivePeony Many conservatives hate AR. They say she is common, gobby, flash, badly spoken, uneducated. I reported a thread about her a few years ago. And these are people who at the time were crowing that the Conservative Party circa 2019 was the party of the working class.

Yup. The legislation banning protests. The hatred towards LGBT+. Britain as the sick man of Europe pre EU. Winter of discontent. More like 1979.

ActivePeony · 06/06/2024 21:16

The hatred towards LGBT+

Can you explain this more?

Also I think you may have missed my point about 1984...

Alfreddoeblin · 06/06/2024 21:17

Have you read the regular threads about men in women’s toilets ? Culture war pretty much like section 28 in the 80s.

Actually I meant Orwell's 1984 and women having to pretend that men are women is distinctly Orwellian. Women's rights are not a'culture war' and it is NOTHING like Section 28.

Men are not women. Even men in wigs and dresses. And women's loos are for women only.
