Help!! How can I increase GB on laptop?

I’m really really not tech savvy..... dc have a gaming laptop and Iv promised sims4 of which Iv paid for on origin but can’t dowbload it as I need another 13GB! There’s hardly anything on the laptop so nothing to delete to make more room!! Can I put a memory card in it or something? Or does that not help??

Adding more memory won't make any difference. It needs more disk space. You could add an external hard drive.

You don't really need a gaming laptop to play Sims 4. I agree with PP it sounds like a disk space issue. Are you sure that you have bought a gaming laptop though as normally that usually has about 1TB of space.

It’s definitely a gaming one, spent ages in curry’s with the bloke deciding which one as needed gaming for the games dc plays... how do I add an external hard drive?

This is the laptop : says installed ram 8gb (6.9 gp useable) system type 64 bit operating x64 based processor....

It is Ryzen 5 with Radeon vega graphics.

They can connect via USB port
YOU should then move your data to the new drive and leave the apps on the C drive
How big is the disk drive ( you quoted the RAM short term memory size]
( not a windows person but if you open up the computer icon/folder you will see at least a C drive. For each labelled drive right click, properties to get the sizes and how full they are
Have you also run housekeeping, like checking you have actuall6 emptied the wastebasket?

Is it just the Sims base game you've bought, or expansion packs too?

Depending on which version of Windows you are running you should be able to see how much harddrive space there is by going into the file explorer, looking for the C drive, then look below it, it should say how big the drive is and how much free space it has.

Iv deleted a couple of games they have on the desk top and it’s not made a difference to the gb left?

I just went on a section that says ‘create more storage’ that gave me an option of deleting and have done that and again made no difference to the gb free??

Have you tried something like CC cleaner to delete old files and cache? That should free up some space also defragmenting the hard drive may help free up space. I would also restart because the amount of storage might not be updating.

How do you do CC cleaner? I’m just restarting it....

It’s gone down even more!! Iv deleted things and it says 3.28 GB free???

It’s currently compressing the os drive.... not sure if that’s a good thing

That's an awful lot of space being used, there must be programmes on there. Can you see anything under the Start menu? If not, go to Add/Remove Programmes and have a look to see what is listed there.

Also, as suggested above, download and use CCleaner to get rid of any old files that are cluttering up the system.

One thing, when you say delete, do you mean you uninstalled them? Or dragged into the recycle bin?

Do you have loads of photos and videos on it? Your hard drive (c:) is being used for something.

Yea uninstalling. There’s hardly Anything on it? Roblox is using the most at I think 25gb there isn’t anything else there that can be physically removed? There are no photos or videos at all. We’ve only had the laptop since end of last year?

Download treesize.. Its an app that will show you exactly which folders are using all the space.

Did you look in Add/Remove? That will show you everything that can be uninstalled.

If there isn't anything you can see, I'd suggest running a security scan because something is using up a huge chunk of the hard drive while staying invisible.

You don’t have an empty D drive in there do you?

Where’s the d drive? ?

I went on the add/remove and took off everything not needed etc and everything on there is minor Storage so in TB..... roblox is the biggest at 20 something GB.
