I'm waiting a few days as I've heard it takes ages to download due to the sheer number of people doing it now.

Theas18 · 18/09/2014 19:44

Am fence sitting. Getting my new phone tomorrow anyway lol

I only have 1.4gb of storage free and I need 5.8gb (for a 1.6gb update)!

cocacola1 · 18/09/2014 20:32

BBQs if you have a computer around you can install the update without having to remove anything to make space on your phone, I've installed it and it's going well so far

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 18/09/2014 20:34

Oh. I didn't know that Blush
Thanks

TranquilityofSolitude · 18/09/2014 23:03

I've installed it. It's ok so far except that Safari feels a bit cumbersome. When I scroll down the page the menu bar disappears and then I have to tap to make it reappear before I can move on. There may be a way to get around that, though. If there is I haven't found it yet!

cocacola1 · 18/09/2014 23:15

tranquility that's so you have more space to read :) to go back to the previous page, if you don't know, you can swipe from the left hand side of the screen

cocacola1 · 18/09/2014 23:16

There is also now a 'tips' app installed with little bits you might not know about, should be on your second page of apps

Cindy34 · 18/09/2014 23:46

I have it, safari is taking a while to get used to, keep getting annoyed that I can't open a new tab easily.

Sometimes the keyboard gets the auto word thing, not sure I like that or not.

TranquilityofSolitude · 19/09/2014 06:48

Thanks, cocacola1. I did know about swiping but on MN I was in the habit of going back to the top of the page and reloading 'Active' rather than going back a page.

Another issue I've noticed is that when I'm typing an email the keyboard covers my message so I can't see what I'm writing - does anyone else have this problem? I never had it before.

embox · 19/09/2014 06:49

Scroll the writing up and that should solve the problem tranquility

Southeastdweller · 21/09/2014 11:13

Is Safari freezing for anyone else? I have to press the home button to start again thus deleting the message I was typing. Might be just my iPad, though it's only a year old.

pilates · 21/09/2014 11:30

Safari is slower.

TranquilityofSolitude · 21/09/2014 22:09

Just wanted to come back in case anyone else was having the same experience to say that the keyboard issue I was having turned out to be an iOS 8 problem. It can be solved by holding down the keyboard key in the bottom right hand side of the keyboard and selecting 'dock'. I have had to do this in each app that uses the keyboard - Skype, messages, mail etc.

VivaLeBeaver · 23/09/2014 09:47

I haven't installed iOS 7 yet. Grin

PurpleFrog · 23/09/2014 10:13

I posted here a couple of nights ago, but it isn't here - I must have lost connection... again! My iPad Mini is not at all happy on iOS8 - i keep losing WiFi. It seems to be a known problem. I can't decide whether to wait for a fix or re-install iOS7 - various support forums indicate this is possible for a limited time.

ExpiredUserName · 24/09/2014 00:20

Agghhh! I'm so frustrated the iOS8 update has slowed my IPad (2010 version 64 GB) right down and its glitching all over the place. Angry. Safari is crashing left right and centre.. Angry Angry

I'm really good at adapting to new updates and find it easy to get used to new functions or turn them off if I don't like them but that's no use if your IPads buggered. I have lots of free space (plus 35GB) on my iPad
My iPhone 4s is not doing quite so badly but it's not great either. It's not much of an update if it slows things dOwn.
I'm so irritated.

Sillysausage2 · 24/09/2014 00:28

I did and it deleted all my music Angry
I shared mine on a friends phone a while back so now I can't download again for 90 days AngryAngryAngry

PurpleFrog · 24/09/2014 08:53

I backed up my iPad last night and restored to factory settings with a fresh copy of iOS8. The WiFi is still buggered. Sad

ShelaghTurner · 24/09/2014 09:03

Fine so far. Hate what they've done to photos though. I liked having a separate photostream so I could see what was being sent to the cloud and delete silly stuff from it whilst keeping it on my phone.

Otherwise it's fine. New phone now delayed to 9th October despite me ordering first thing on the 12th. Gits.

HappydaysArehere · 25/09/2014 09:37

I have the largest capacity I Pad, 125gbts so plenty of room but have run out of I cloud space. Really don't wish to purchase any more as you now have to give your credit card details and they take monthly only, not annually. Can I still download iOS 8? Also, is icloud really necessary if I back up photos elsewhere.? As you can tell, I am not technical and getting on in years. However, I am really trying to take advantage of all this so would appreciate any help. I buy I tune cards and purchase music, books etc but really don't fancy putting credit card details on it unless absolutely necessary. My daughter said purchase annually and take details off but as said you can no longer do that.

Behoove · 25/09/2014 09:39

Heard in the news that the update has been withdrawn. Apple are really all about style over substance aren't they?

HappydaysArehere · 25/09/2014 09:39

Sorry, this thread is about iOS 8 but got side tracked. Really did want to know about the ios8.

Hurr1cane · 25/09/2014 10:07

I'm not getting an update option on my iphone 5 :/

HattieFranks · 25/09/2014 10:17

I've done it on my phone and as a result am NOT putting it on my ipad. I hate what they have done to the photosAngry. Where the frick is everything? Bloody awful. Predictive thingy on texts makes me feel seasick (although I am sure I can switch that off).
