have it on Iphone 5S it has made finger print opening 100% before i hardly used it as very hit and miss. Love predictive texts.

Hurr1cane · 25/09/2014 10:32

Why hasn't it come up as an option on mine yet then? Does it come through in stages or something?

ChutesTooNarrow · 25/09/2014 11:08

I have updated my iPad mini and iPhone 5 purely for the ability to take phone calls on the iPad. It has blown my mind! I often abandon my phone and have no idea where it is, but my iPad is glued to my hand so I am not going to miss calls like I used to.

Safari is slow and inefficient though, I hate double tapping to scroll to the top. I also can't copy and paste anymore.

Behoove it is a patch to ios8 that had been removed, not the update.

picnicbasketcase · 25/09/2014 11:10

Hate the predictive text bar, have shrunk it down so I can ignore it.

NightLark · 25/09/2014 11:12

Have (only this morning) read lots of geek stuff saying don't update an iphone 4S with it, as it's going to do nothing but slow it down. Wish I hadn't been 'good' and updated the other day when I happened to plug my 4S into the computer and got a prompt. It has slowed it down, and Safari is now entirely dodgy about connecting to the internet. Bum.

ExpiredUserName · 25/09/2014 13:46

Grr, I'm absolutely seething. I have tried everything (including back up and full restore X 2 plus some other stuff) but my IPad 2 is now so laggy and slow that it's effectively unusable. My wifi is rubbish now... I have a super fast service but it's no use to me now. Sad

I can't even ruddy copy and paste properly Confused Angry

I unsuccessfully tried to reinstall iOS 7.1.2 which should be possible as I have an iPad2 and one of two models that should, technically, still allow it (although, presumably for a short period of time). There is info online about doing this ( EXAMPLE HERE ) but I can't quite manage to get it to work. I could do with a real idiots guide to it. Any ideas?

I'm actually having to type this in notes and transfer it to the thread after I have finished. Even doing it this way is irritating as my keyboard is in front of where I am typing so I can't see what I am doing. The scrolling isn't working. I Have to hide the keyboard to check it. It's MADNESS,

BTW I posted a new thread to remind people that they need to reset all their security, parental control and privacy settings. It's in Geeky Stuff.
Angry Angry Angry

Tweasels · 25/09/2014 19:55

Hate it, hate it, hate it! I've updated the iPad. Safari is dreadful, slow, keeps crashing etc. definitely not doing my phone Sad

ExpiredUserName · 26/09/2014 08:50

I'm still seething. I successfully reinstalled iOS7 but just couldn't get the old back up to reinstall as it kept wanting me to install iOS8. ...so I reinstalled iOS8 and reinstalled the back up. For a few scared moments I thought I had lost my Candy Crush levels but fortunately they reappeared from iTunes when I re-downloaded the app. All the data, photos and settings seem ok.

I don't think there is any other damage I'm bothered about but...

.....I'm still stuck with bloody crappy useless glitchy crashy iOS8 SadSad

I guess there might be some updates soon to sort things out. The iPad2 issues seem to be effecting a lot of people.

Very, very shoddy work by Apple.

ThrowAChickenInTheAir · 26/09/2014 08:56

Mine and dh's iPads both froze.

And scrolling up the page seems to lag behind and and can't keep up with itself. Not overly impressed so far.

Elliptic5 · 26/09/2014 08:59

I've got an IPad Air, I haven't downloaded IOS 8 yet, I assume the problems will be the same for me? I think I'll give it a miss.

Labrat72 · 26/09/2014 09:11

There's a new update. iOS 8.0.2 out this morning. It says it fixes bugs.
I've downloaded it although I wasn't aware of many bugs. My phone crashed & had to be reset once after I downloaded iOS 8 but apart from that it's been fine.
I don't like the pictures now either. They were better before, it's because of that that I haven't updated my iPad yet.
Hope the new patch fixes things for people a bit.

ExpiredUserName · 26/09/2014 09:16

Hmm, just had a look at the update and can't see it does anything for us poor buggers with practically unusable ipad2's Sad

It's as though they didn't bother testing the iOS8 update before releasing it?

nannynick · 26/09/2014 20:18

Just installing the patch, hope it puts Safari back to how it was... on iPad it does seem not as responsive as it was before. Come on patch, download... I want to see if it's been fixed.

nannynick · 26/09/2014 20:29

First impression, Safari seems a bit more responsive. Time will tell. Hope the keyboard lettering does not disappear like it did sometimes in the 8.0.0 update (iPad).

PurpleFrog · 26/09/2014 21:05

I installed the 8.0.2 update. It didn't fix my WiFi issue. I have just done some googling and discovered it is the combination of iPad mini with retina display, iOS8 and the 5GHz channel on our BT home hub 5. I have now reconfigured the home hub from my iMac, given the 2 channels different names and connected to the 2.4GHz channel. It has now worked for nearly half an hour. Success! Grin

ExpiredUserName · 26/09/2014 21:25

Seeing as my Ipad2 was so unhappy with the iOS8 update I thought I had nothing to loose by installing the iOS 8.0.2 update and it does seem to have helped. The wifi is now ok, Safari is behaving itself a bit more, I can even copy and paste now Confused . It's all still a bit laggy and glitchy but better than before.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 26/09/2014 22:19

Wish I hadn't bothered, took two day,s, cleared off lots of essential games and the keyboard is really laggy. Gaaaah.. My little ipad isn't happy.

lurkingaround · 02/10/2014 18:38

I am totally fed up with this ios8.0.2. It is frustrating! I downloaded ios8 in innocence and then the update, slight improvement but Internet is so slow. Screen keeps freezing. Typing can be a nightmare, so slow and it freezes up too. Really infuriated I downloaded it. It's dire.

YoYoYooooo · 02/10/2014 19:06

I still can't cut and paste properly on my ipad2 and the screen doesn't scroll properly. Grrrrrr.Angry

lurkingaround · 02/10/2014 22:28

Grrrr indeed.AngryAngry. What the hell is wrong with Apple?? Test your stuff Apple!

ThrowAChickenInTheAir · 22/10/2014 08:52

Are any of you still having problems?

I'm still finding the screen slow to form when I scroll up/down. Also wifi dropping out.

RustyDalek · 22/10/2014 08:55

There's another update out now (8.1) which is meant to fix wifi dropout and some other problems.

ShelaghTurner · 22/10/2014 09:05

8.1 also brings back camera roll and photo stream. Hurrah! Glad they saw sense.

ThrowAChickenInTheAir · 22/10/2014 09:23

Ah yes thanks Rusty, sorry should have said...I'm still having these probs with iOS 8.0.2 Sad.

ToniWol · 22/10/2014 09:45

Am glad I waited for 8.1 to update iPhone 5 and iPad. Although my phone wouldn't update properly so had to restore to factory settings and then restore the back up. Both seem to be working okay though.
