I've gone a bit mad with bulbs this year. Smile Looking forward to them coming up in the spring will get me through the winter I think. 🌷🌹🌺🌸🌼

I am a bit of a novice so it's all quite an experiement! I wondered if anybody else is doing the same and would like to join a thread so that we can share some photos when the flowers arrive?

Glad I did some Googling before commenting that OP might want to rethink planting lasagnes Grin

CandyLeBonBon · 14/10/2021 11:45

Is that a close relative of the spaghetti tree?

TheEvilPea · 14/10/2021 12:23

Lol! It was news to me too, but is quite addictive!

I've bought all the stuff too! Not quite sure what to do with it! 🀣

NutellaEllaElla · 14/10/2021 12:28

Strange name but good premise though I lost my gardening mojo lately

mildlymiffed · 14/10/2021 12:30

I've ordered all my bulbs too- exactly for this lasagna planting project! I got totally carried away and spent a small fortune!!!

mildlymiffed · 14/10/2021 12:32

I even have a plan as what different things I'm going to plant on each layer (I have a lot of empty pots as just moved house!)

I've bought lots of bulbs but my summer plants are still flowering in my pots!
I do, however, want to lasagne plant a new pot to give to a friend for her birthday next week but as I've never done this before I've been putting it off.
What sort of compost have you used?

mildlymiffed · 14/10/2021 13:26

I was just going to use bog standard multipurpose!

HuckleberryJam · 14/10/2021 13:52

I'm not doing lasagne, but I planted blushing girl tulips from Farmer Gracy in pots and have got my eye on the cream ranunculus

ClaudiaNaughton · 14/10/2021 13:56

Sarah Raven’s website has amazing bulb ideas and a video on bulb lasagnes.

TheEvilPea · 14/10/2021 14:09

I went crazy with Farmer Gracy and Sarah Raven, pre-ordering stuff and it was only when it all turned up that I realised I had thousands of bulbs!

I have been doing this too, mapping it all out! Now a mad rush to get it in the ground before I go on holiday. May have to be out planting in the rain next week. 😬

I've used bulb fibre for my pots, with some clay pebbles in the bottom for drainage and a bit of potting grit mixed in. But in the flower beds I've mostly just dug in normal compost.

The ones with the pink edges? They are so pretty.

This is wonderful, really appreciate you starting a thread on it (even though it's really put me in the mood for lasagne!).
I am yet to successfully keep any plant going but I still think I will give this a good go. X

Dizzywizz · 14/10/2021 14:54

This is great, Opened the thread read thinking it would be a typo of some kind! I’m definitely going to give this a go

Howshouldibehave · 14/10/2021 14:59

Yup-I’m doing this. I won’t be doing it until next month though-I’m sure I read that November was the best time!

Momniscient · 14/10/2021 15:02

I've just made up my lasagnes! I put the (quite large) bulb order in before we'd decided to move house... so bulb lasagne pots are my way of hoping to take the new plants with us! Seemed a waste otherwise Blush

HuckleberryJam · 14/10/2021 15:10

@TheEvilPea Yes, lovely.

I’ve done a few tubs like this! Layers of tulips, daffs and crocus with cyclamen on top to enjoy for now 🌸

That's great! I am a total novice, but bulbs seem to be easy gardening where you just plant and wait! Please do come back with photos once your creations appear!

I have gone a bit mad with tulips but I love them. I've combined them with a variety of hyacinths, muscari, crocuses, daffodils and alliums. Just need to wait until my dahlias are finished to plant up the last few pots. Also putting some irises dotted around. And some tulips and crocuses that naturalise in grass in the lawns. And some colchicum and autumn flowering crocuses to balance out the year.

I have no idea what I'm doing really so I'm sure some parts will be more successful than others!

Beautiful! I think I put a few of these in one of my flower beds too. Smile
