I am very sorry to announce that Nigel has died.
He slipped quietly away with no pain or suffering and is now buried in the garden with lots of tennis balls.
Rest now old friend. See you in the sweet bye and bye.

Poor Nigel and poor Monty!

How sad, I’ll miss him.
I did wonder, when they got the little Yorkie. It’s obvs not a puppy, is it a rescue?

Oh dear. I'm not a pets/dogs person, but Nigel always looked so lovely and one could see how much Monty loved him.

Ohhhhhh I was just watching a recording of the last weeks GW where he was really wet but insisting of being with Monty in the rainy garden, I thought he looked sad (This has made me cry) RIP Nigel, such a lovely dog.

Oh no. We will miss you Nigel.

Terribly sad news and an awful loss to Monty and family atm . He always added a bit of humour, diversion and jeopardy to the show. Will be much missed

I actually cried when I read the news, he was a wonderful dog. I feel for Monty Don and his family, they must be so upset.

Oh no, poor Nigel, we did wonder if he was ok on Friday's GW when he insisted being in the rain. So sad 😢

Aw, poor old fellow. He did make me smile in last week's GW when he stayed out in the rain, you could almost sense the wet dog drying by the fire smell ! I can't help feeling that that flighty little yorkie, though sweet, is not going to bring the strength of character and gravitas to the programme that Nigel did.

Rather nice to think of him being buried with enough tennis balls for the afterlife, like an ancient King buried with his treasure.

Loved seeing Nigel & he was always so well behaved. No watering the plants, helping dig, jumping in the pond or knocking Monty over into a bush, all things I could imagine happening if my dogs lived there

It was such sad news to read this morning on his fb and insta pages [cry] I wonder if this Friday will be the last time he is on? I love that Monty buried him with loads of tennis balls. Such a good dog

I don't know if I can face Friday's episode now, it's going to be so sad. Monty is such a sweet soul isn't he, it's going to be hard to watch him suffer.

viques There is Nigel's daughter too isn't there? I can't remember her name but she's a lovely chip off the old block to remember him by.

(I can't remember what relative she is to Nige.)

Oh, no Nigel has been one of the high points of my week for a long time. He was a very good dog.
