BTEC/T level/other vocational 25/26 - part 2

New thread for those of us with DC doing vocational courses (and for those with DC looking for an alternative to A levels next year and looking for advice).

My DC is currently doing a level 3 extended diploma. He struggled academically at school and was pretty miserable in year 11. With a lot of hard work he got the grades needed for the level 3 BTEC and is now thriving at college.

Oh, bloody hell, that sounds hideous. Wasn’t it older DD who was very poorly last year, but also DD? How is her MH at the mo, is she in a good place, so to speak? ( the Propranolol in the bag, even if “ just in case” …💖). And, her throat was quite bad ( maybe I’m having false memories!)

Ooooh… YAY to her 18th!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳DS is 18 on Friday, too! 🌟🌟🌟!🙀! He has declared that he is allowed to take the day off, says he has cleared it with his instructors……🤔🙄🤔🤷‍♀️! Do you have any plans?

Hey! Oh no! It is so hard now that they are older! Especially as we don’t get access to their timetables! Or, at least, I haven’t been given it!

Maybe your DS clears it with his instructors personally, and the college just contacts you as a matter of course? I do get the feeling that that is possibly the case with my DS… well… I guess I should wait and see if I get a call on his birthday when he won’t be there!

It is really positive that your DS is going down to the gym, though! I guess it’s better than doomscrolling at home!! 🙀😹

Dd deals with college and assures me she's informed them of her absences...no one has contacted me so assuming all is ok admin wise.
I think the UCAS stuff starts here after half term - fun! 😬
She's really annoyed she's missed shifts at work and will this weekend, too.
She still sounds horrible but says shes ok to go in tomorrow. I've told her to phone me if she wants picking up early (really don't want her ill for her birthday 😕)
