2025 A Level Results Day and Sept Uni Starters - All Welcome

1000 replies

SlightlyJaded · 25/07/2025 22:26

I couldn't see board specifically dedicated to results day for our DC who have sat A levels this spring. And I know some of us STILL have questions about Uni starters.

DS has Liverpool as his first choice and Notts Trent as his insurance - both to study History. Anyone who recognises me from previous boards might remember the hell we went through with DD a couple of years ago, so DS has applied quite a lot of caution to his choices - perhaps too much, perhaps not enough. Neither of us have any idea what to expect with his results. He has genuinely fluctuated between a D and an A in some of his mocks....

I still haven't done anything about accommodation which is one of the reasons I am starting this thread.

But mostly, it's for nail biting, relief, tears, support, advice and all the other things needed to get us through the next few weeks.

Welcome :)

Dd has gone with her mates. Hope it all goes well for her today. She worked so hard. I’m nervously waiting for the call

icecreamfortea · 14/08/2025 07:56

Feel sick. DDs gone go school to collect results. Says she’s not looking at emails or UCAS before she gets them. Told me
i can’t look at UCAS either but not sure I can help myself! ( have her log in details…)

Alevelsarehere82 · 14/08/2025 07:56

I wonder if any parents go into college? Just wondering as i would go in if he wants me to.

Changed18 · 14/08/2025 07:59

82% have their first choice, according to UCAS chief executive just now on R4 Today. Good luck all!

Shimy · 14/08/2025 08:00

Best of luck everyone, its here.

Wow. I hope DS is in that 82%. It's good odds but happy enough with insurance too.

LadyLapsang · 14/08/2025 08:03

Best wishes everyone. Remember to secure accommodation if they are accepting a reserve offer, the right accommodation can make a big difference.

OvaHere · 14/08/2025 08:04

Ugh can't hear any movement from upstairs yet. The suspense....

DD and BF (who loves three hours away from us) both got into Durham - I can’t stop crying

butteredfly · 14/08/2025 08:05

Morning - what does it mean if it says your university is still deciding on your application?

Alevelsarehere82 · 14/08/2025 08:06

DS has his place!

Bobadob18 · 14/08/2025 08:07

@SlightlyJaded i remember you well from two years ago with your daughter. Mine was getting hers at the same time and I felt so sorry for the stress you went through. Hope it ended up working out for her. I can’t remember where she chose in the end but I think was it between Manchester and East anglia or something like that? I really hope you have a better day today with your son. Just wanted to wish you well.

Lemintonic · 14/08/2025 08:11

I so remember this time last year when dd was sitting at her computer and we were with her!! She also got first choice york amd absolutely loves it!

LadyLapsang · 14/08/2025 08:11

@butteredfly I would guess they have dropped a grade. I would get the results as soon as you can and then DC should contact the university, perhaps after advice from their teachers, to make their case.

DD too- phoned us in (happy) tears and got exactly her predicted grades which were very punchy and thought she’d never get!

KingstonTown · 14/08/2025 08:11

DS is in at Lancaster! He's on his way to college to get his grades.
I am way more nervous than he is.

UnimaginableWindBird · 14/08/2025 08:12

DD is also still asleep!

Probably slipped a grade or two but might still get the place, or perhaps be offered a related course instead. Worth a call to emphasise how keen to come when got actual results, especially if any marks are borderline.

Flamethrowers · 14/08/2025 08:13

top choices for both though some disappointment on grades.
