2025 A Level Results Day and Sept Uni Starters - All Welcome

1000 replies

SlightlyJaded · 25/07/2025 22:26

I couldn't see board specifically dedicated to results day for our DC who have sat A levels this spring. And I know some of us STILL have questions about Uni starters.

DS has Liverpool as his first choice and Notts Trent as his insurance - both to study History. Anyone who recognises me from previous boards might remember the hell we went through with DD a couple of years ago, so DS has applied quite a lot of caution to his choices - perhaps too much, perhaps not enough. Neither of us have any idea what to expect with his results. He has genuinely fluctuated between a D and an A in some of his mocks....

I still haven't done anything about accommodation which is one of the reasons I am starting this thread.

But mostly, it's for nail biting, relief, tears, support, advice and all the other things needed to get us through the next few weeks.

Welcome :)

Good luck everyone, I am up with a coffee as I just kept dreaming she had her results and then knowing it was a dream, pointless trying to sleep.
At least her course has dripped in clearing so we hope it may be lenient if she drops a grade.

Candleabra · 14/08/2025 06:37

Wide awake here. Liverpool offer which could be achieved on a good day. Insurance should be ok, but DD is super nervous and not confident about anything now.

It would be unheard of for a candidate to be rejected if their course has dropped in clearing and they have met the clearing grades. There's just no point to the university doing that. So fingers crossed.

I have awoken to the biggest poonami imaginable from DDog who was mopey all day yesterday but I put it down to the heat. This is not an auspicious start to the day..

Changed18 · 14/08/2025 06:52

Morning all! Hope all DC get what they need for their next steps.

MonkeyTennis34 · 14/08/2025 06:53

Up early to walk dog, back for DD2’s hopefully positive email then into school to get results.
Can’t believe this day is finally here!
Good luck to everyone!!!

OvaHere · 14/08/2025 06:53

Morning everyone. Not the best night's sleep. Wishing tremendous fortune to all our young people this morning.

ConsumedByCake · 14/08/2025 06:55

Best of luck to everyone. Feeling a lot of trepidation, but we went through it a few years ago with DC1 - didn’t go as planned on the day, but it all worked out brilliantly in the end. So: fingers crossed, but IT WILL BE FINE.

Good luck to all.

I have one question. DCs firm choice (Oxbridge) says ‘if you don’t quite meet the terms of your offer, we will need to see how close you are before we make a decision. be patient’. DCs school is on hand to look at grade boundaries, and make advice on next steps - which in some cases might be a remarked paper.

In this eventuality - and a student is waiting for confirmation from their firm choice - what would ucas actually say?!

I’ve been awake since 3! So much for playing it cool! Fingers crossed for everyone!

ps sorry for the mistaken quote - was going to say I don’t know about ucas but I do know that the college my child has an offer from sent out an email about what to do in the event of a missed grade (including thst they may consider a very narrow miss).

Wonderfulequipment · 14/08/2025 06:58

Up as well (DD asleep!) - no Edinburgh places at all in clearing for applicants from England, apart from nursing. That seems a bit weird but presumably normal for them?

HebeJeeby · 14/08/2025 07:06

Another early dog walker here, it’s lovely and cool right now. Just heading back home to see if DD is awake. She was very jumpy last night but trying to keep a lid on it bless her. Not too long now for everyone, so good luck all 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Only an hour left until we get email. D asleep now so I’m going to wake her on the dot. Eeeeek!!

Alevelsarehere82 · 14/08/2025 07:24

Morning!!

I had a dream DS got a U in Chemistry....
He found that one the toughest!
DS not going university this year but wants to next Sep. Hes had a really difficult couple of years and id love for him to be happy with his results.

Is anyone's DC going to get them online? He thought he may do that and then if they are ok go in person after!

Brienneoftarthismyhero · 14/08/2025 07:28

My dd is doing it online and then going to school. Yesterday was horrendous but she seems okay this morning and we all slept which was surprising!

I have that sickly nervous feeling in my tummy!!

good luck everyone

PunksVersusBrats · 14/08/2025 07:28

Yes@Alevelsarehere82, ds will get everything online and then go into college afterwards. He's declined breakfast, too nervous.

OvaHere · 14/08/2025 07:29

@Brienneoftarthismyhero my stomach is churning too. Really nervous.

Thistooshallpass. · 14/08/2025 07:35

Good luck all - I wasn’t this nervous about my own results back in the day !

mumonthehill · 14/08/2025 07:40

Ds wandered down stairs, grunted he was ok. Hoping UCAS does not crash at 8!!

Navigatinglife100 · 14/08/2025 07:42

Good luck everyone! Exciting day!

MargaretThursday · 14/08/2025 07:43

Ds is up. He's typing madly and making annoyed squeaky noises. Trying to ignore them.

UnimaginableWindBird · 14/08/2025 07:47

DD's alarm has just gone of, and I can hear signs of emerging life. I think she's arranged a lift into college with her best friend to collect their results.

KitKatChunkyCat · 14/08/2025 07:49

Omg we are finally here! Feel like I was the last person to fall asleep at 4 am and alarm off at 730
omg feel sick
already been loo

good luck everyone

CautiousLurker01 · 14/08/2025 07:52

Am a year behind you all as it’s ‘only’ AS levels we’re getting today - but they dictate when DS can continue to Y2 and what his predicted grades will be for next year… so will shape whether he’ll be applying anywhere at all in the autumn. Am a mess - dicky tummy, no sleep etc. No idea how you lot are all coping at all! Am thinking of you all and hoping everyone ends up where they want to or where fate decides they will be happiest! 🤞

OvaHere · 14/08/2025 07:52

DS is awake. Just took him a cup of tea. He's not coming down to look at results but will come and tell us when he knows. Leaving him to it.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 14/08/2025 07:54

Another poor sleeper here. Feeling a bit sick, but with a relaxed grin plastered on.
@CosyMintFish well done to your DC on achieving their STEP result! That sounds like an especially fiendish exam.
