I've just realised that the year 12 2023/2024 thread is full - oops! - last message on 16 August - don't know if someone started another continuation thread but I can't see it. This coming year DS1 does A levels and university applications, DS2 will be in his GCSE year.

If there is a thread already started please let me know.

After tomorrow, DD is really almost done. 20% of English left and 70% of French. So less than one whole A Level! And it is really good that French is the last to be done as it's the hardest one for her so plenty of time to revise.

She's had a lovely half term. Plenty of time with friends and relaxing but she has done some work every day so feels OK about everything. Drama tomorrow at 9am and it's a really pressured exam with a lot to write in the time available so a bit nervous but mainly OK.

Sorry to hear of DC stressing out. I hope things feel calmer for them soon.

mumonthehill · 02/06/2025 05:50

Good luck to all this week. We have 5 left to go, and 2 this week. Ds gone off the boil a bit i think but we keep moving forwards until June 16th!!

PennywisePoundFoolish · 02/06/2025 06:55

Good luck to all and I hope there's no more weirdly worded questions

DS2 is about half way through. He's on study leave now, first exam this week is Wednesday.

He's decided he's not going to the leavers do after all. I'm concerned his mood is slipping but he denies this, said hardly anyone is going. It's a real shame imo because it's the day before his 18th, but he doesn't have a friendship group really so will just be with us. I just hope he finds his tribe at university.

autumndays13 · 02/06/2025 07:48

Had an ok half term here though DD now thinks she actually did not do well in Physics paper 1 as she keeps realising mistakes she made, so spiralled a bit about that. She’s clearly v bored with revising now but manages a few hours a day. 10 exams left to go. She will be exhausted when this is over.

Good luck to all. Nerves definitely settled for DD after the first exam so hopefully those starting this week will feel a bit better once the first one is out of the way.

@PennywisePoundFoolishDD says loads at her school don’t go to Yr13 prom thing either. I’m really hoping that my DD meets her tribe at uni too.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 02/06/2025 10:52

Glad to hear people are (just about!) hanging on in there. DC1 still hasn't started written exams. The first is tomorrow. She had a bit of a flat half term. We've both had a bug - nothing serious but lots of fatigue. Better to have had it last week than this week I guess!

@PennywisePoundFoolish DC1 isn't planning to go to the Leavers' Ball at college either. Apparently none of her close friends are interested, and she doesn't feel confident enough to tag along with the others who are going. It's a shame, but I'm trying to encourage her to plan something low-key with a few friends instead - currently an Alpaca trek is looking a good option.

3 exams here this week, starting tomorrow, and 2 the next and then all done. Ds has had his coursework mark for one of his subjects (subject to moderation) and got an A* so he’s pleased with that. Good luck to everyone for this week!

UnimaginableWindBird · 03/06/2025 17:20

DD had her toughest day yesterday, with a three hours exam on the morning and another in the afternoon. She was hoping for an A* in history, but doesn't think she did well enough.

Earlymornyawn · 03/06/2025 18:44

@UnimaginableWindBird hope that your DC gets her A*, you can never tell as if everyone finds it difficult, the grade boundaries could be lower 🤞🤞.

MonkeyTennis34 · 04/06/2025 11:28

Hey everyone!
DS2 has his first Maths A level this afternoon.
Would be lovely to discuss later once I get the feedback.
Last week’s Physics was apparently a hard paper…although isn’t everything about physics hard?!

Changes17 · 04/06/2025 12:17

Maths here too. Fingers crossed for them all.

autumndays13 · 04/06/2025 15:18

Maths here too 🤞

mumonthehill · 04/06/2025 15:46

Fingers crossed this those sitting maths, my idea of hell!!

PennywisePoundFoolish · 04/06/2025 15:56

DS2 said the maths exam went well and seems in good spirits. He's got Biology tomorrow and that's his weaker subject, though he's really enjoyed it and even read a book by choice, relating to what they had been studying. I nearly fainted tbh as he has never read for pleasure!

Changes17 · 04/06/2025 16:23

Mine too @mumonthehill!
DS seems to think it went well and has come out feeling fairly confident.

jamimmi · 04/06/2025 17:23

Dd reports maths aqa could have gone better but wasn't a disaster! Apparently nerves got the better of her. Biology tomorrow!

MonkeyTennis34 · 04/06/2025 18:11

DS2 said that Maths was “decent” although there were a few “weird” questions.

SheilaFentiman · 04/06/2025 18:40

DS1 seems happy, thank fully

GingerPussInBoots · 04/06/2025 19:20

Anyone else found this year quite intense !

Earlymornyawn · 04/06/2025 19:29

Maths here today too (Edexcel), DC said that it went well and was happy. Good to hear that others were happy as well, it was DC’s first exam.

Good luck to all of those with exams tomorrow, DC doesn’t have any until next week now but then it gets more intense.

autumndays13 · 04/06/2025 19:41

DD happy with maths (Edexcel). Sounds like people were generally pretty happy with it. Good luck tomorrow (biology for DD)

NCTDN · 04/06/2025 21:19

Ds also happy with maths though also worried that if everyone says that, grade boundaries will be really high !

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 04/06/2025 21:28

Anther one proclaiming maths to be "pretty good, actually", in contrast to yesterday's Spanish, when she was much less enthusiastic. Nothing now until Monday, can't remember which...

NCTDN · 04/06/2025 22:01

Physics here next Monday.

mumonthehill · 05/06/2025 08:59

Sounds as if maths was positive! We have biology this afternoon and geography tomorrow and then just 3 left. The countdown is on. I'm feel slightly odd about it all ending as last dc. However will be good to never go through this exam season again!!!

Thistooshallpass. · 05/06/2025 16:41

Apparently Biology was awful .. not a great Paper 1 at all and nothing like past papers ..
