Hello all, apologies if there is already a thread but I can’t find one.
May had finally rolled around and the first exam is a mere 2 weeks away. Exam stress has hit our house! It’s feels like everything is about waiting at the moment - waiting for the predicted grades, waiting for the uni offers, waiting for the exams to start, and then the long wait for the results!
This is our youngest DD but the first one in further education so would love to chat to other parents going through this

My dd is 18 on the 30th - the day after Prom which she’s slightly annoyed about!

It's weird isn't it when they are nearly a year younger than the rest of the year/cohort.

Strange thing...

ZittiEBuoni · 20/06/2023 20:56

Dd is livid with me for having her in July...

DS didn't feel that Maths went well today. It's the most down he's been about all his exams plus his chronic fatigue is bad at the moment too.

I'm inclined to book a holiday for results day so that we can forget about the last two years and be away from my judgy sister with her A* kids

@WhatHaveIFound I hear you! I am tempted to be away on results day too especially as DS hasn't applied to uni yet so we won't need to be here for the whole clearing shenanigans. It was much easier with DS1 who was a student back in the era of unconditional offers (2017)!

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/06/2023 21:25

Ds1 is a July baby. He's just passed his finals and become a Dr of bvetmed at the age of 22.
His mates ensured he was as drunk as them at his leavers prom.

blametheparents · 20/06/2023 21:51

As a summer baby, DS was a master of borrowed or fake idea back when he finished year 13!

Thanks @ono40

No uni issues here either as DS is going to sleep, eat and exercise himself well once his exams are over. His words.

He'll help out in the family business too. Only jobs that start after 11am though!

HairyMaclary · 21/06/2023 06:25

Final exam today, good luck to all the other Biology 3 students. It has been a long few weeks since his first exam in May 17th and I can’t wait for it to be over!

Bit sad that it will be his last day at school though, the end of an era!

Forestfriendlygarden · 21/06/2023 06:47

Thanks for being on here everyone. We are approaching 7.a.m. I've been up for an hour and not looking forward to seeing grumpy and tired DD when she gets up. I shall try to be civil and loving.

Hope the morning goes smoothly and she is off to get bus on time *with lanyard) at 7.40 ish.

KittyMcKitty · 21/06/2023 06:59

Dd was in floods of tears last night - probably the worst yet - she’s convinced she won’t meet her offer. I don’t know how we’re going to make it through till Friday - also the electricity board are switching our power off from 8-4 tomorrow (possibly longer) there is no mobile phone reception here so she’ll have to go into school for the day which is not what she needs.

im exhausted- she’s exhausted- the students at work are all exhausted- I want it to end!

Hang in there Kitty.
Me too, just about to go in to her room - face ultra grumpy and tired and make sure she is up...don't want a panic this morning...

Obviously your fault...😀

Forestfriendlygarden · 21/06/2023 07:10

Her Majesty is up. Not grumpy. Just tired.

Repeat after me: 'don't forget your water bottle, cereal bar and lanyard'...😗

Yes, there are so many mixed feelings here too...

Forestfriendlygarden · 21/06/2023 07:13

Party round at my place Friday anyone?😊

tribpot · 21/06/2023 07:14

we're in good hands then...

legalalien · 21/06/2023 07:36

DS playing cricket all day today, everyone else in the team has finished their exams so he’s fed up. I wish it would rain all day tomorrow - much more chance of a successful final burst of study before Friday! The first exam on 2 May seems like a distant memory. Good luck to all of those finishing today.

Forestfriendlygarden · 21/06/2023 07:36

Oh God she's cutting it fine to leave for the bus again...
'Don't forget your lanyard'....

Forestfriendlygarden · 21/06/2023 07:38

She's off out the door...praying she gets the bus okay. I can't say anything...

PacificState · 21/06/2023 07:39

Good luck biologists (and anyone else with exams today)

Forestfriendlygarden · 21/06/2023 07:42

Yes break a leg all. DD hasn't come back and there is no panicked phone call praise the heavens so must be getting bus okay. I'm a nervous wreck sorry.

ZittiEBuoni · 21/06/2023 07:53

I hope so @Forestfriendlygarden Grin. My 'thing' is making sure the atmosphere is calm and all the students feel prepared and secure. There is a lot of anxiety in this cohort (post-Covid generation thing?). God speed your dd's bus!
